  1. MagicMustang: That is the first time I've seen that Edsel kit built! It looks great. I wish I had one of those on my shelf... Well, maybe someday. Didn't even remember that the '65 Chevelle even existed either. Great looking models!
  2. I understand that problem very well as we have the same kind of problem here in Finland... Though it's not 8 degrees, we had -2 degrees today (Fahrenheits). Anyway this Chrysler turned out really nice!
  3. Thanks for the kind words everyone, they are highly appreciated! Todd: Yes it did ! That car has a 477 Cid Mopar Big Block with a Twin Turbo setup and lots of horsepower. The best ET with that car is 7.89 and here is a video of 7.95 run. And no, it does not go smoothly in this run... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pNdlffPF0Lk That's absolutely one of the finest cars in Top Street category with the vinyl top and everything. Carl: I like to see how this build ends up as well. I've never did anything similar so it is a neat challenge to my skills. Hopefully it will turn out good. Gene: Heh, I only wish I would finish these as often as I start new ones... Here is a little update on the Mustang. Roll cage is pretty much done, or I mean that no more tubings will be added. Still I need to smooth out and clean all of the joints before painting. So I added some styrene tubing to the doors and to the back of the cage. I also fitted door panels on place and they fit perfectly. Only problem is the seat which will need very minimal lowering to make it fit perfectly inside that Funny Car cage.
  4. Thanks for asking the situation with that '55, Gene. I'm happy to say it that it's finally back on the bench and I'm going to mask those blue areas away tomorrow and spray some white as the 2nd color on. But it has been sitting just like I left it in early November: http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=90198&page=1 Anyway today I did minor progress with this Fiat. I started working with the fuel lines and I made the lines from carburetors to a junction block on bottom plate of the intake manifold. That junction block was made out of beer can aluminum, fuel lines are Scale Dreams' spark plug wire material and fuel line fittings are made out of the rubber part of an electric wire that I painted silver. Next step would be painting the fuel pump and its belt & pulleys. Then I can continue working with those fuel lines.
  5. Good looking builds for sure! That Straight Axle '55 Chevy must be my favorite even if I've always preferred shiny paint jobs. Your rusting just looks so good! Excellent job on that one, but the others look really good too.
  6. This turned out really good! This body has never been one of my personal favorites either, but I have to say that this looks very, very good. Your paint and detail work is always so nice and clean, but as always... That incredible BMF work blows me away. I hope you can get around taking a couple of outside pics for us. Not that there's something wrong with these, but models always seem to look even better in outside shots.
  7. What ? I think it's almost impossible to do a clean flocking job if door panels are molded in. Even if I hide the door panels with masking tape when I spray some paint to the floor and add the flocking, once I take the tape off a lot of flocking will stick to the door panels and they are almost impossible to keep clean. Also foiling the chrome trim on molded in door panels is a real pain in the... Well you know where. That's why I never use flocking if door panels are molded in. If they're not, I will. Of course if someone has good tips how to keep those door panels clean of flocking, I'd highly appreciate it.
  8. Thank You Jeremy! Your builds are super-nice so I really appreciate the kind words.
  9. That's a very cool kit! (Yep I have a '60 Impala in the garage). I bought one of those kits too and my plan is to build a Mild Custom as well. If you want to install a detailed chassis to replace that one piece chassis that comes with the kit, AMT '59 El Camino chassis will work with a little modifications. If I remember correctly it will have to be widened a bit and maybe some other minor modifications, but nothing too hard. As for the Street Fighter kits, I don't know as I don't have any of them...Yet. Anyway I'll be looking closely if (when) you post a WIP thread of this one.
  10. Wow, a big bunch of good looking models right there! It's always great to see that someone has been able to finish this many models. Especially that GMC Van looks really good to me. Is that one the AMT A Team Van kit?
  11. Thanks Everyone! The kind words mean a lot & keep me going. Cliff: I'm glad you enjoy seeing what I've built. I hope you'll have a good 2015 as well, I really enjoy seeing your nice and clean builds as well. And Traditional style is my favorite, too. Michael: Yep that is true ! Actually I'm building a V8 Boat and a trailer and it will be towed with that Oldsmobile. It should be done next year. Peter & Mike: That Oldsmobile is probably the best build I did this year. I think it has the best paint job and when considering what modifications I had to do, it might be the best of them. But stylewise my favorite is that '62 Impala, nothing beats an old Stock / Super Stock Drag Car. Bruce: Hopefully I can keep them coming. I should have two models finished in early 2015 though. That would be a good start. Bob: Yep, three seems to be "the thing" this year. And while looking at your and other people's builds too, I'm definitely in a good company too. I hope I can start the '73 Chevelle next year. I took a break of creating the master for my Frontrunner tires but I think I must finish it now and send it to the resin caster. Then I can get going with that Chevelle. I can't wait! James: Happy 2015 for you, too! I enjoy seeing your builds as well. They're always so nice and clean. And thanks everyone else, too! I highly appreciate all comments. Thanks !
  12. Looks like you had a good year, too. I always enjoy seeing what you come up with as your next build subject. That Little T is really sweet, but as I'm Drag Racing with a '74 Chevelle, the El Camino must be my favorite. But all of them are really nice and clean, thanks for sharing them and can't wait to see what you'll build in 2015.
  13. Your work is always top notch and I always enjoy seeing your latest pieces of art. I really like Traditional cars and they all are so nice that it's impossible to pick a favorite. I can't wait to see what you'll come up with next year.
  14. All of them are really nicely done! Looks like you had a good year. That Hemi Dart and Firebird are my favorites, but all of them look very good. Great work.
  15. I just checked this one from DrasticPlastics and I must say that it looks Fantastic! Maybe you could try uploading the pictures in Fotki or Photobucket to be able to post them here as well? I don't know what would be the problem as I've never used attachments while posting to forums. I think the end result was worth the wait. Now just let's hope you can get the pics in here, too.
  16. Yep so when kit's cage was together I started adding some more plastic rods to it. Actually this step was a lot easier than I originally thought and only really tricky part was getting that Funny Car cage right. Note that the cage is not finished yet, it will need still more plastic rods here and there and of course some major cleanup. Everything is just roughly glued together right now, so I will have to do some smoothing with Super Glue or Putty when all of the tubings are glued together. And here is one shot with the body on:
  17. I know I shouldn't start any new projects, but as I'm getting closer finishing a couple ones and I got this kit as a Christmas Present I just had to start building it. This will be a very interesting build for me. I have been building lots of older stuff this year and now when I'm building a car that would race today there is much more detail to be added. And that's one thing I like. So I got Revell's '90 Ford Mustang LX Drag Racer kit as a Present and right away I knew what I was going to do. These Mustangs are really popular in different kinds of Street Classes of Drag Racing and Finland is not an exception. Those Mustangs that race here in Finland have inspired me to do this. This Mustang will be built as a Top Street Drag Car. Top Street is basically for "Street Cars" but really only a couple of cars are street legal that run in TS. They have to run with Drag Radials and front suspension must be original type. In Top Street all engines have somekind of a power adder and engine tuning is free. To give you a good idea of this class, here's a link to Top Street Qualifying video from Finland: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uk0__J1fBkY I'm going to go with Ford 347 Cid Stroker with a couple of Dominators and NOS on my build. The kit is really nice. It has great Race parts and it is a good starting point, even if it needs lots of work of course to be a proper Top Street car. And here is the body that everyone says doesn't look like a Fox Mustang.... To me it looks spot on! Drag Radials (325 X 50) are from Ted's Modeling Marketplace and they fit just perfectly to this Mustang. I'm not sure about the wheels, though. This kit has Weld DragStars, but I've never been a fan of those wheels. I must look what I can find from my parts box. Usually the actual building starts from an engine, but this time I thought I should try building a roll cage first. The kit provides a cage that won't be enough for this build. I knew I had to build a roll cage that will work up to 7.5 second passes, so using Tyrone's Mustang build as a reference I started adding more tubes to the kit's cage. First I test fitted kit's cage together and realized that the tubes that go back from that main roll bar are too short. I stretched them a little and then added some Bondo to cover ejector pin marks on the tubes. After that kit's cage was glued together (But not on the floor of course). More on the next post...
  18. Good looking builds Jack and Jesse! I have built one of those Novas years ago when I was younger and the build turned out nowhere near today's standards. It was a lot of fun though and I'm planning on building another one at some point when I find a kit and time to build it.
  19. Thanks Guys, I appreciate the comments! Gene: Yep I like those carburetors too. When I tried painting them that way I had been looking for a good shade of color for carbs for a long time. After my first try painting them like this I really liked the look and after that most of my carbs have been painted that way. I think it brings out the details really nicely and the shade is excellent in my opinion. Snake: That's a great information... Thanks! I will have to see if I can find Model Master enamels here in Finland. I know they are not the easiest ones to find, but that could be worth trying if I found a bottle of that color somewhere. I'm slowly working on the fuel lines. I should have an update in a couple of days, but another build I got as a Christmas Present is slowing me down a bit. Another WIP thread will be coming soon, but it doesn't mean that I have boxed this one and put it back on the shelf... This one is still on the bench and I'm making some progress.
  20. I really like to follow your projects as I enjoy saving old Glue Bombs as well. Great job taking parts from different Glue Bombs and making them fit together perfectly... That mock up is looking really good, period correct just like the real thing too. I'll be definitely keeping a close eye on this one.
  21. This year was overall really good for me. Well, finishing only three (!) models was a major disappointment, but because quality is much more important than the number of finished models, I'm really happy as I was able to improve the quality of my models again. Other things slowed me down a lot, but here they are: 1. '61 Oldsmobile F85 Wagon. Built as a Mild Custom from Jo-Han kit. Painted with Tamiya Sprays, added engine details, scratchbuilt door panels and modified dashboard, backseat, trunk, floor, firewall and center console. Metal axle hole on the engine block was filled, air cleaner was modified a little, I added a carburetor, made new windows etc etc. Lots of work went into this one and I'm really happy how it looks: More Here: http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=84746 2. '62 Chevrolet Impala S/S. This was built pretty much box stock from Revell's excellent kit. Only minor modifications were done, but then I added lots of details to the engine, interior and chassis. More Here: http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=68400&page=1 3. '69 Dodge Charger Daytona Cannonball Run. This was built for the Cannonball Run CBP and of course most of the work was done in a hurry as the deadline was coming closer. Anyway I didn't rush it and I'm pretty happy. Front clip was molded as one piece with the front fenders, a couple of other unneccessary items were shaved from the body. I added lots of details to this one & did lots of little modifications. More Here: http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=96237 Thanx For Lookin'!
  22. Very good looking Firebird! I like the color and those stripes look great on it. Nice detailing in the engine bay as well and I like the wheels a lot. Great looking Pontiac overall.
  23. Santa brought me some really cool stuff... -Black steel wheels for the back and Chrome Reverses to the front for my '60 Impala. -Brian Setzer's Rockabilly Riot All Original. An excellent Rockabilly CD! -Tigers' Story book (It tells about a popular Finnish Rockabilly band Teddy & The Tigers). -New speakers to my daily driver ('87 Chevy Van). They're not the most expensive and the best ones, but as long as they're better than the original speakers I'm happy...Rockabilly sounds always good! -Chocolate (Of course), a pair of new jeans, a couple of shirts etc. And then I got an In Car Camera that I can use on the '74 Chevelle Stock Eliminator when I'm on the race track. I tested it today on my Chevy Van and it works really nicely: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u3hy7W9Ak9s
  24. I'm glad to hear you got the belly pan installed properly. I can't wait to see this one done as it's looking very good already, but I just hope you can solve the problem with the pics. And Merry Christmas!
  25. Thanks so much, Christian! Yes the body looks really smooth after molding that front clip as one piece with the fenders and shaving a couple of other things. I like it too, thanks!
