Very nice and clean Hudson. Your paint jobs are always incredible and this is no exception. Nice pics, too! The interior looks very good to me. The shade and the semi gloss shine on that blue really makes me want to jump in. Very realistic looking seats. One of the best Hornets I've seen...Congrats.

I use Primer only when I paint bodies or parts with spray paint. When using brush paints (I use Revell & Humbrol Enamels) I see no need for a Primer. But when painting with sprays, it makes life much easier as paint will stick better and it won't run from sharp edges so easily.

It looks great! I like the color. That red fits very well on a Falcon and your paint job looks good too. Great detailing in the engine bay and a nice stance. Really nice work. Only thing is that this is not a Gasser. In Gasser classes you were not allowed to build AWB cars. This would be more like a '60s Match Race Drag Car in my opinion. But whatever it is, it sure looks good!

The Howard Cams "Rattler" ..............
W-409 replied to Old Coyote's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
Great Build, John, but what else could we expect from you? As always, nice paint job and great detailing. A very cleanly assembled Dragster overall. -
Yep, very nice and clean Dragster! I like the blue body panels and how they fit together with the grey frame. Nice detailing, too. I like the wheel and tire combo, too.

Beautiful Javelin with super paint job. I like the color and wheel & tire combo. It's very nice to see these rare subjects being built, this one makes me want to pull mine out from the stash. It will be a Super Stocker...

Good looking Coronet Super Stock! It's always nice to see a model that's built to match a full scale Drag Car. Especially when they are this nicely done, super paint job and incredible detailing in the engine bay, too. The decals on the windows are silvering a little as you said, but other than that I see no problems...Very nice build!

Thanks Jason... I appreciate it! I started assembling the engine. Nothing really special, but I got the valve covers, intake manifold and carburetors on. Timing Chain Cover was installed, too and I painted all bolts and nuts with silver. I also added some minor black wash to the engine to bring out some depth and I think it's a bit better now. The next step would be scratchbuilding headers as I can't put plug wires yet. I broke my drill bit that I used for them and now I gotta get a new one.

Best Father's Day present ever?
W-409 replied to Harry P.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I'm have to agree with the guys here. Even if I had money, space and everything to buy that one, I'd definitely pass it. Personally I'd like to have a regular car that I could drive with, like a '63 Impala SS. This is in the same category as many show cars. Both are very nice, but I wouldn't want to own something I could not drive with. However, if I bought that one, I'd drive it a little, just like Al said. There are some very valuable cars that can be seen on the public roads sometimes. This is the Art Russel Plymouth that won Grand National Roadster Show in the '60s. It can be seen in local Cruising Nights here in Finland sometimes. -
Thanks Aaron! I agree with you, it's a lot of fun to be able to Drag Race in 1:1 scale, too. Here is a video from West Coast Street Cup that was on last weekend. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aMFeqyfz2dI Here's a little update on the Impala, too. I scratchbuilt the hood scoop, but I'm not completely sure if I like it or not. So I'd like to hear your honest opinion on that. Anyway the bottom part has two holes where air will go to the carburetors. Same size holes will be drilled on the hood when I can mock up the engine and see where those holes need to be located. If I will end up using that scoop, I have to do some finishing touches for it with Bondo. I'm sorry the pics are not the best. That thing was very hard to photograph.

WOW!!! It's so great to see someone building a '73-'77 Chevelle / El Camino. Especially it's nice to see a '74 as I drive Stock Eliminator with '74 Chevelle. Your body work looks fantastic so far. That's a lot of cutting and slicing for sure, but looks like a talented modeler has no problems with it. This really gets me motivated on starting my Missing Link '73 Chevelle. And who knows if I might find myself from eBay buying one of those Stock Car Malibus to do a conversion of '74 Chevelle.... Keep on building, I'll follow this one very closely.

Yep, doing a Burnout with a Dremel and a spare tire works well! Just collect the rubber bits and you can glue them on easily with some clear paint as well.
-
Not only you build fantastic models, you do it very fast, too! Do you sleep at all ? The talent in this thread makes me really speechless...Fantastic work.

I have a pair of resin Carter AFB's, but I have absolutely no idea where did they come from. Anyway they are top notch quality and need only minor cleanup. Though the carburetor throats need to be drilled open, as always.

1990 lx mustang street car finished! 8/1/14
W-409 replied to Dragfreak's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
That looks really good. I like the cage and I think the wheels and tires look good, too. This will be an interesting project for sure, as you do very good work as your Hemi Cuda proves. I can't wait for more. Here's a little inspiration from Finland: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fCrR9onblK8 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uKdJ9MYl7OE -
Thanks Guys for the comments! Unfortunately I've made no progress as I've been very busy with school and Drag Racing stuff. Last weekend there was the season opening in Finnish Championship Drag Race Series and I drove Stock & Super Stock there with the '74 Chevelle. I set four new ET records for that car and four new 60FT records as well. The Eliminator went well, too, now I'm on the third place in the points. And yesterday there was a West Coast Street Cup- event at Pori Airport which is not a Finnish Championship event. I set a new 60 FT record there as well! Anyway I'm planning on getting back to this one real soon. The summer vacation starts in one week, so stay tuned for more updates.

Really nice Grand Am Funny Car. The paint job turned out great after all and the detailing all over is incredible. The engine looks like it could be fired up any moment! Nice work on a rarely seen subject.

1:25 Scale 2012 Mustang Brembo Brake GT - Replica of my Ride
W-409 replied to Eye4Detail78's topic in Model Cars
Incredible! It must be a lot of fun to build a replica of your own car. This turned out really nice, it matches the 1:1 car and is very well built. Especially the paint job is fantastic. Maybe I gotta get me a '60 Impala and build my dad's car. -
Very good looking Studebaker. Just perfect in every way. It looks excellent with the slicks and those wheels. Stance and engine choice is great, too. Model is well built and I like all the little details you've added. That must have been a neat 1:1 ride.

You got very good responses on the glue business. I live here in Finland and I use EriKeeper, but it's probably not available in your area. Personally my favorite way on doing black window trims (I do them very rarely though, as most cars I build have chrome trims so I don't have much experience on this) is that I mask the area and then paint it by paint brush. If I did it with spray, the masks would probably leak from somewhere...
-
That definitely looks interesting! This is one of the most beautiful Buicks from that era and your scratchbuilding skills will do it a justice. It looks very good already, keep it coming.

One of my favorite Chevrolets of all time. I'm glad you've built one of these and shared it with us, as it's one of the best '62 Bel Airs that I've seen in a long time. Good looking details in the engine bay and smooth paint as well. Your BMF work still amazes me, even if I know every time I see your post that it's gonna be awesome. Nice job.
-
Welcome to the forum! The 1:1 car is not actually something that interests me, but you did an excellent job with it! Especially if it really is your first one, it's a lot better than mine. A tip that will help you when installing clear parts. Use white glue instead of regular Model Cement or Super Glue. White glue will dry invisible so it doesn't matter if a bit of it goes on wrong place. Another thing that I'd suggest is that you could paint the window surrounds black (I believe they are black in these cars). It will give a more real car look. I think the best way to do this is when you mask the area with tape and then paint it black. Otherwise I think it's just right...Very nice work!
-
Another Masterpiece from your bench! I like the paint colors, they match very well to each other and to the car body. Smooth and shiny paint job with that super sharp BMF works really nicely. I'm building the same car right now and I hope it'll turn as half as good as this one. Great work!

This is the coolest Volvo 850 that I've seen... Actually I think it's the only cool Volvo 850 that I've ever seen... Great work with the roll cage, I can't wait how this turns out...Keep it going.
