  1. These were all done with spray cans, mostly Tamiya and Testors laquers.
  2. I agree with you, Andy. I'm planning to get a few myself.
  3. The problem with the model companies doing kits of what "we" want based on Ebay prices is that every time they do it, the kit ends up being a total flop. It's happened in the past. Unfortunatly, the high prices fond on Ebay and the secondary market aren't really an indicator of actual demand. On the flip side of that, I would love to see Revell and Round 2 reissue as many of their old pickup and suv kits as they can. I know some would require retooling (Dodge longbed Sweptside) due to alterations made, but many others could be straight reissues/modified reissues (the '77 GMC for example).
  4. The truck in the upper left corner is a Chevrolet Sport Truck.
  5. Yes. RPO Z77 Sport Truck Package. It was a secondary package that was part of the Scottsdale trim level. Only available on shortbed 4x4 models, both Stepside and Fleetside, as well as Blazers.
  6. There was talk of Round 2 reissuing that kit if there was enough interest. I never heard for sure if their going to do it or not. I'm hoping the do, or at least reissue the Ford half.
  7. Just for comparison, the top pic shows a '61 Nailhead from a Full Size Buick. The bottom is the 215 from the Special.
  8. The Rover engine has its roots in the early '60s Buick 215 aluminm V8 found in the Buick Special, Olds F-85, and the Pontiac Tempest. Other that a passing resemblance of the rocker arm cover design, it shares no parts with the Nailhead. It has a much more conventional rocker arm layout, rather than the vertical valves found on the Nailhead. It also shares much of its basic layout with the later Buick V6 and V8 engines.
  9. Mine's pretty simple, I own a 1:1 '55 Chevrolet 3200 pickup, which is the long bed 1/2 ton. I try to use the same name on all the sites I'm on, or some variation of it. The current avatar is Mok from the movei Rock & Rule, but is subject to change depending on my mood. I used to do the same thing when I was active on the Gearz site, usually with a monthly "Guess the avatar" post.
  10. Edward, if you need a better pic of how that rear window weatherstrip is made, let me know. I can get reference pix for just about anything on a Task Force Chevy truck, as I have a 1:1 '55 3200.
  11. The AMT '53 Studebaker Starlight is the only kit that comes to mind that has a correct R10 Borg-Warner overdrive, but the main trans is a B-W T89 instead of the GM SM319.
  12. No one has mentioned the absolute most important tool a modeler needs; A solid, level, and ample sized workbench!
  13. OK, Virgil, I'm getting in on this with some of the local rats from my area. Most of these belong to members of the Georgetown Junk Yard Dogs.
  14. The reason that the '64 Ford isn't included is that it is not in the current Revell catalog. All the kits listed are in current porduction.
  15. I have picked up the Nova to enter, but not sure what direction I'm going go with it yet.
  16. Depends on the grade of stainless. Some grades will rust, though nowhere near as bad as plain steel. However, most trim used on cars and trucks are made higher grade stainless because of its corrosion resistance and ability to be polished to a high shine.
  17. Jarius, I was looking at how you mounted the body to the chassis, and was wondering if a countersunk scew could be used instead? Or would the body be too thin to allow for that type to be used?
  18. You're really comparing apples to banannas here. Musclecars are generally considered to be a mid size car with a large displacement engine (though that isn't 100% the case, dending on who you ask), with said engine as factory equipment or installed by an authorized dealer, ex. Yenko. Street machines, on the other hand, are more of an extension of Hot rods, a car that's been altered from stock for more performance, which can include bigger/more powerfull engines, suspension alterations, body modifications, etc.. A Musclecar can be used to build a Street Machine. Also, plenty of Street Machines see track use.
  19. Dave, there's 2 different Italeri accassory kits with drivers. The first kit released, which also had a very nice hydrualic crane and a tailgate lift, had 2 figures in it. One was a somewhat skinny standing figure, wearing a windbreaker jacket and a ballcap. I beleive he may have had a mustache as well, The other was a sitting driver, much bulkier that his standing counterpart. He also has a jacket, but his is more of a leather jacket, and no hat. He also has a noticably receeding hairline. The second kit is the one with 3 figures, as you mention, 2 standing and one sitting. All 3 are have summer type clothing. One is in a T shirt and jeans w/suspenders and a ballcap (which is much better detailled that the figure in the first kit). He also has a mustache and looks to possibly have a wad of chew in his cheek. The other standing figure has a sleeveless short and vest, cowboy hat and boots, and is a little on the chubby side. He is wearing sunglasses and has a beard. The sitting driver figure is wearing a stirped longlsleeve shirt, sunglasses, sandals, and has a buzzcut.
  20. The lettering on those are spot on to the BFG Radial TA. Too bad they didn't take the next step and do the correct tread pattern.

  22. Yes, it did. The Road Agent also has a figure of "Large Father", along with his grinning rodent friend.
  23. I'll build pretty much any era vehicle, ranging from the Teens up to modern vehicles. I do tend to favor '50s-'70s for the most part, though. To answer Nicks secondary questin, it's basically the same answer, I'll build kits tooled from just about any era, if the subject matter catches my attention.
  24. In that case, you might look into picking up one of the Chevy/GMC van kits (A team or Vantasy will be the easiest to find, as they're recent issues) for the suspension.
