Revell snap Peterbilt
Old Buckaroo replied to Old Buckaroo's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Getting closer, Still need to Clear the fuel tanks as the paint used was flat. I cant find any type of wire to use for the pigtail and air lines , moving sure can make even the simple task difficult. -

I will include a pic of the interior before the cab gets mounted to the chassis. That steering wheel gave me fits on getting it painted to my liking. Paint - strip - paint x 3 -

Nice job on the DV.III, was the lozenge decals ? Base looks super also. I still have the first 1/72 Biplane I ever built , Soviet WWII IIyuszyn I-153 - old Aurora kit. Back then my eyes were good enough to rig it. -

Filling And Sanding in Tight Areas?
Old Buckaroo replied to impcon's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I never used the Squadron white due to I always have the green. But for filling little areas with precision this is my method. Take a small drop of Squadron putty and place it on a plastic lid - like the old clear ones that came on real metal cans of coffee. Once you have that drop add a drop of laquer thinner to it and stir it with a toothpick to make a creamy paste. Use a small old paintbruss that hasbeen cut off (1/8 " of bristles works best for me) and apply the paste. This is the method I used for years on aircraft seams and small areas. -

Thank you Guy's for all the great suggestions. As of now , the Fuel tanks, battery boxes, mirrors, luberfiner (it was correctly mounted fill cap on top) Bumper and stack have all been stripped of the shiny chrome stuff. Jesse - gotta go with dual horns as I am not filling a hole and repainting the cab. I also cut the seats down - I did not like the looks of those highbacks anyhoo. Mark the front hubs will be painted, just giving the paint time to cure. Not so sure about the rings - not as steady as I use to be and twice as blind. -

Glad to see you guys approve of the "New colors" Basically like comparing apples to oranges. Both will build up nice , they both are affordable if you shop around. I feel less guilty cutting up the Revell kit to experiment with then the AMT. Got a chance to get back to this one today, I am not impressed with the super shiny fuel tanks and battery boxes. I might give them a shot of dull coat to tone them down some. What do you guys suggest for the tanks and bat boxes ? -
A truckers view of mother nature.

That is Zues showing his annoyance of a Peterbilt with "Werner" logos Seriously those are some magnificent pictures. You guys should collaborate and make a calender. -
My Wife and I really like Halloween, so every year we do a Yard Haunt. I like to build our props and this is a witch I made a few years back. The beginning , a foam wig head cut up and added foam chunks for nose and chin base, More detail added with clay . Texturing with paper towels. Skeleton of pvc pipe , chicken wire covered with ducktape My wife sewed the outfit to dress her. Just another model on a larger scale !

I'm going to say your base coat will affect the color. The ones I put on my Green Pete have a creamy light green color to them in the light. -
Truck Kits You've Scored Recently

Very nice assortment of kits to come home to Tom. I have been searching for an Alaska Hauler also . -
Believe it or not I have clocked over 5 hours playing with this exhaust system. White glue is your friend on this type of stuff. I believe I have it to where once it cures I can remove the piping from the turbo and sand all the seams and fill gap wedges . Mark - If I knew where my rolls of solder was , I would of went that direction. I cant find anything since we moved.. Glad to hear the template has been of use - Looking forward to see what your gonna build !

Hey Mark, glad you stopped in for a look. Yes the stacks will be behind the bunk. That has been my ardous task since early this morning. Building and piping the exhaust with minimal supplies. Clayton - I almost gave mine to Goodwill as I had not used in in years. Sure beats scuffing. Gordon - Thank you
