  1. How about this for a load - a load of hoods (on pallets of course) inbound for a truck repair facility ? I have a spare Pete 377
  2. Jt - dont get the idea I was nitpicking , No sir'reeee that is not my style. I was curious to see your method if you did.
  3. That is one loooong Reo. Do you add a carrier bearing to your drivelines on a project like this ? The orange looks really smooth like it is already been polished and waxed. I could not ever get results like that from a spray can. JT - did you make the bumper ?
  4. The build thread is here http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=94082 I was going for a daily worker without a ton of shiny , but what there is the driver was proud of it and kept it polished and clean. Thanks for looking in
  5. Nice amount of loot Terry, only one thing wrong those girls are too thin Clayton - Pics of the SD
  6. Forward progress, the cab is out of the tub of SImple Green and pretty cleaned up. As mentioned earlier "I have a vision of a 1970's era OTR customized truck for this one" and this is how it is looking right now. What is that ? You have Never seen a double bunk IH ? The cab length measures out to 115 " Either your not old enough to remember or you have forgotten the era of real custom trucks. My friends I present you the picture I borrowed from an ebay auction that is the inspirition for this project. I am awestruck everytime I look at that Black truck. On the plus side I now have a IH 4070 A daycab for another project.
  7. Mark - that is a terrific picture. I hope you do build that up someday. I have a lot of respect for those of you that rebuild / restore old models. There is a lot more work involved then building a kit out of the box. Out of two models I am still going to come up short on parts, lots of little items will need to be fabricated.
  8. Fantastic looking wrecker, nice work on the lift whatever you call it . I like the deck clutter. I have always wanted to have just a rim with the sidewalls flopping around in there loose, just like a real blowout !
  9. Yes leather punches work excellent for that. While I am not an advocate of poorly made chinese tools a simple punch set like this can be purchased at the "Harbor Fright" store for around $6.00 I suggest using a round needle file to remove the burrs on the cutting edge and also some fine sandpaper . Getting the disk out is a little bit of a challenge - I use a dull awl and push the disk to where it rotates to where I can grab it out of the tip with tweezers. A little clean up with a sanding stick to remove the fuzz on the disk and all is good !
  10. What kind of plastic are these made out of ? like model type plastic or that "rubbermaid type soft stuff " ?
  11. Oh man does that bring back memories. I had this one also displayed on my shelf with Semi's as a teen. Very nice work you have done and a great idea to hide the decal flaw. I would of never suspected any different. I like the extra large First-Aid kit so they can patch up the "bad guy" after the pursuit and shoot out ! Is this kit available again ?
  12. This is one my favorite coe's for a classic look. I acquired a old built up in a trade that need some tlc and bought another off ebay (which was a glue bomb) to try and combine the two. Truck from trade had a two piece front axle , ebay truck axle was complete but shipped in a box with no protection. Its axle turned into a three pieces. The frame had a slight tweak to it , just enough to annoy me. I cut the rear suspension off and worked the twist out (mostly) I punched out 4 round disk to compensate the air bags from the saw cut. I have a vision of a 1970's era OTR customized truck for this one with some truck stop bling to personalize it for the driver. Currently I plan on using rear two holer's (which will be chrome) from Double -Take Replicas. The cab is in a bath of Simple Green along with many other parts. Hope you find this one interesting.
  13. If the originals had looked this nice they might of sold more ! This is one Impressive beautiful build. Nothing on it makes it look like a model. Thumbs up on this one !
  14. This one is now on the shelf Thank you for following
  15. I really like this one, the wheels and tires look super after being painted. Chassis is top notch also !
  16. Oh yeah, one of my most favorite pieces of equipment. Very much looking forward to this one transpire. (I wish I had a model kit for every hour I spent contortioned down in the cab floor access on these )
  17. JT - I think Trumpeter has them or use to anyway. These are real popular with aircraft builders. I had one but I am pretty sure I gave it away.
  18. This 379 belongs to one of my neighbors, he hauls a lot of hay and cattle with it. You can hear that Cat rumbling up the road 10 miles away.
  19. Man, I reallly like this one. You really did a fine job on the Pete. What brand of paint and color did you use on this ? I have been looking all over for a rootbeer or nice brown. Can you also tell how you make the grease on the 5th wheel ? Thanks for showing this
  20. Yes, I will second that. I had wondered what happened to him. Hope to see you back real soon Alan !
  21. Jesse - I am glad you like the IP, I will write up a little how to tips (or maybe what you should not do) on my method. I use to spend hours detailing 1/72 and 1/48 aircraft IP's. I feel a little guilty as I did not put a lot of time in this one. Last update before moving to under glass. Tanks are clearcoated (just need to BMF the step and fuel caps) , pogo stick is mounted with white glue (so I can remove it to add air lines and pigtail when I source some wire ) Lights are all installed and added a door logo . Thank you for following and commenting
  22. This is a super project to follow. I really like these old Dodge's , I have only seen a few in real life. On cleaning off the BMF after painting , did you just use a Q-tip with a touch of thinner to clean off the paint ?
  23. Time to blow the dust off this one and get it back the front of the bench .
