Peterbilt 359 from AMT kit
Old Buckaroo replied to Roadrunner's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Nice to see this old Pete getting the attention it deserves. Model Master RAF Interior Green (2062) makes a close match to Detroit Green. -
Thanks guys for looking in and commenting, It nice to know there are others who still like "Old School trucks" ! We are back in in business , Thanks Terry for posting the brochures. It took a lot of guesswork out of lengthening the frame. We now have a 180" wheel base. Should not have any problems with a trailer crunching those behind the sleeper stacks now. I need to round up a few parts to keep this one in forward momentum. I am looking for one (1) rear parking brake can (nope did not loose it, the post office mangled this kit beyound recognition) A pair of front Alcoa's (2) and rings (2) from a AMT DD Freightliner if any of you guys swapped them out Thanks for looking

Revell snap Peterbilt
Old Buckaroo replied to Old Buckaroo's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
While working on a few other truck projects this one has made an appearance again. The rattle can Silver and Orange paint never pleased me. Now that I got my booth plumbed in I painted it different. I present to you one of the Ugliest Peterbilts ever. But it grows on you (least it did to me) and looks just right for a work truck. I was going to repaint the frame semi gloss black , the orange does not look half bad. Any suggestions on what color I should paint the wheels ? -
The Peter Plane
Old Buckaroo replied to Superpeterbilt's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Ah geeze, I was not aware this one had taken a tumble. I am happy to see it back in the spotlight again though. Think among the intro of Col. Steve Austin - "Gentlemen, We Can Rebuild It. We have the technology. We have the capability to make the world's first Peter Plane . Man that Oscar Jones has grown since the last pic I saw -
What do you Drive?
Old Buckaroo replied to guitarsam326's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Cat D-10 N 's , Ingersall Track Drill's, Excavators ect ect . Once a 992 loader but that was real hairy as It was "Top Heavy" big time. Wish I had a better pic of it. -

how to find the center of a circle?
Old Buckaroo replied to southpier's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I use one of these templates (available at art and drafting supply stores) It has "cross hairs" outside of the circle. I place the disc in the hole it fits and use tape or a scribe and straight edge to mark the center cross. -
I robbed a pristine sleeper from a W-925 kit. I had a few old ones but they need a serious stripping. Easier to go with clean fresh vintage plastic. I have come to the conclusion this kit was not really meant to be built with a sleeper. Makes for tight trailer clearance. And that is even after moving the fifth wheel plate back 15mm. I am going to go ahead and lengthen the frame on this one some. Thanks for looking in

Truck Kits You've Scored Recently
Old Buckaroo replied to Superpeterbilt's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Man, I would of dug deep to have gotten that "Pirate kit" I had one as a kid . Other then building trucks nowadays I also build "Monster type models" That Pete has one of the nicest boxes I have seen in a long time. Good to know you had these still hidden away until recently -
Autocar Integral Sleeper
Old Buckaroo replied to Modelmikey's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
I was wondering "How did I miss this " then I saw the post date. Anyway I am so happy you dredged this one back up as this is a really super nice truck. I have a AITM cab that I hope will make it to the bench soon. Having this as a referece will speed that future project up ! -
Diamond Reo C-116 & Dump Trailer
Old Buckaroo replied to Superpeterbilt's topic in Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
10 Years ago ? That is one nice looking truck ! (the trailers and Reo load rate pretty high also) -
Clayton, that was actually the first thing I started with on this one Pretty simple to make if you have another donar kit. Terry - Wow, thanks for adding those pics. That 90" has made it to the "Must Build list" Casey - The decal sheets I have aslo have the stripe in Black. Also included is the "Diamond Reo" hood as shown on the 90" truck Terry posted above. Thanks to everyone who has looked in and commented !

After seeing all the great Trucks built over the past year and New Trucks starting to transform on the bench, I need to get back to work. Russell C posted a pic of this truck some time back and I was awe struck, I love to old school trucks and just had to build this one. I did a quick mock up of a few key parts to check against the reference pic I am using. Sleeper sets too high , but most likely wont use this resin brick anyway. It was just handy for the pic. Stay tuned
