Truck Kits You've Scored Recently
Old Buckaroo replied to Superpeterbilt's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Those would be boiler rivets. I sanded mine smooth and will do any future kit of the same. -

Old Buckaroo replied to Old Buckaroo's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Starting to add some "cab candy" . I spent the morning scouring my bench looking for the door handles I robbed from a Revell '69 Nova kit, cant find them anywhere. It is always something Thanks for looking -

Old Buckaroo replied to BubbaJoe's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
I remember seeing those - I think X-acto called it a "Master shipbuilder set" or something similar. Nice find , let me know if you ever want to part with it. -

Most guys that narrowed theirs removed 3/16" out of the center. The steps seem to be troublesome also , stripping them of the chrome and thinning them seemed to be the cure. -

Angelo , Those stripes look fantastic with that color. Dont stress out about that seam, very few of these kits are ever seen without it. -

I have the Freightliner FLC kit for the donor. They suggest the FLD but you cant find that one as easily or gently priced . (frame is the same anyway) -

Kevin, I like that Freightliner kit , As said the tub is tight - take a sanding block to the sides and back and all will be good. The front axle is to wide, I cant remember at the moment on how much to shorten it . I left the front brake drums off of mine and it was ok. Read back on about 5 - 6 of these WIP's and learn the quirks. One other thing AMT instructions show the cab release handles upside down. Cab handles points down not up ! -

I would rather give credit to someone who doesn't delete their complete thread after a week. Rule of the internet - without pics it didn't happen ! -
April Mack Madness
Old Buckaroo replied to Superpeterbilt's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
I just want to build a truck to where I dont have to build a custom exhaust. Terry - I have never had either of those kits. -

Sam - there is nothing wrong with working on more then one truck at a time . I am looking forward to it as I have a kit or two I would like to build and maybe a surprise thrown in . -

I have a folder with some of the Reo Olinger pics in it that I saved off google. I never knew who built it until now. That is one tough looking work truck , actually they all are. Nice collection ! -

Thanks guys for looking in and commenting. Ken - my son always had legos, I started using them for leveling tail feathers on aircraft 10 years ago. Still making forward progress, little things here and there. I have given up on p/e slam locks for the headache rack, so I will fake them with some thin styrene. -

Well that is embarrassing , sorry Sergey for loading the wrong picture. I have a file of these trucks for reference and I grabbed the wrong one . Your build is still my favorite as it progressed as there was so many great tips to learn by . -
Czech Truck Model Deliveries?
Old Buckaroo replied to modelercarl's topic in Truck Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
I have not dealt directly with this outfit , but use to order quite a bit of stuff from same country and Russian Federation. I never started looking for it until about at least a month and half from time of ordering. -

Thank you Terry, I plan on building several more . There are several things I would do different that I missed on this one. Gorden , thank you - , as said this was my first semi for many years. My headlights came from a "Bank Pen" as I had no plastic tubing on hand. I razor sawed the end of the pen off, chucked the tubing in my cordless drill and shaped the bevel with a flat needle file. Sawed it off and repeat. Cut a styrene disk for a backing the same size and mounted them . -

Thanks Lucas, this was the first truck I had built and completed after 30 year break from trucks. The color is WWII Russian Interior green, It looked good enough to pass for a fleet color. I remember the old Safeway trucks and would love to build a few if I could source some of those "S" decals. -

Movin On Kenworth decals?

It does make for a hard choice to send your money off when you cant even get a reply to a question , or several over a six month period.
