  1. I just want to build a truck to where I dont have to build a custom exhaust. Terry - I have never had either of those kits.
  2. Sam - there is nothing wrong with working on more then one truck at a time . I am looking forward to it as I have a kit or two I would like to build and maybe a surprise thrown in .
  3. I say get one of Frontier Resin's GMC Cannon ball cabs and "do something special" !
  4. I have a folder with some of the Reo Olinger pics in it that I saved off google. I never knew who built it until now. That is one tough looking work truck , actually they all are. Nice collection !
  5. Thanks guys for looking in and commenting. Ken - my son always had legos, I started using them for leveling tail feathers on aircraft 10 years ago. Still making forward progress, little things here and there. I have given up on p/e slam locks for the headache rack, so I will fake them with some thin styrene.
  6. Well that is embarrassing , sorry Sergey for loading the wrong picture. I have a file of these trucks for reference and I grabbed the wrong one . Your build is still my favorite as it progressed as there was so many great tips to learn by .
  7. I have not dealt directly with this outfit , but use to order quite a bit of stuff from same country and Russian Federation. I never started looking for it until about at least a month and half from time of ordering.
  8. Thank you Terry, I plan on building several more . There are several things I would do different that I missed on this one. Gorden , thank you - , as said this was my first semi for many years. My headlights came from a "Bank Pen" as I had no plastic tubing on hand. I razor sawed the end of the pen off, chucked the tubing in my cordless drill and shaped the bevel with a flat needle file. Sawed it off and repeat. Cut a styrene disk for a backing the same size and mounted them .
  9. Fantastic looking Astro. Good to see this one getting another chance. Really like the back window setup !
  10. Thanks Lucas, this was the first truck I had built and completed after 30 year break from trucks. The color is WWII Russian Interior green, It looked good enough to pass for a fleet color. I remember the old Safeway trucks and would love to build a few if I could source some of those "S" decals.
  11. What a great thread ! My favorite from my collection a Freightliner I back dated to 1968 And my favorite built by another modeler Sergey's "Love Machine aka Pig Pen" Mack
  12. It does make for a hard choice to send your money off when you cant even get a reply to a question , or several over a six month period.
  13. I would guess like a bus, removable panels. Fact is that thing looks like a bus, all it is missing is a greyhound.
  14. (sigh) Alaskan Hauler and the Doubles.... Good for you Sam, those are some really nice kits !
  15. This has become one of my most favorite truck builds of all time. That station wagon is the topping. Man what a car - can you tell me more about it ? (kit, resin, promo) I am sure my model collection is incomplete now as I dont have a station wagon.
  16. That is an annoying bugger, I need to find a fuel cap to hide that ! Dennis - Thank you . I need to get this finished so my level of stress will drop .
  17. That sounds like a good way to grow up. I remember seeing a few doublebunks when I was a teenager (late 1970 & eraly 1980's) I thought they were the coolest. Thanks Gordan - It was one of those ideas that so far has worked out Dennis - It was a challenge gluing in that foil I was not at all impressed with the kit manifolds and pipes. Reminded me more of a boat exhaust. I robbed a couple Cali . Hauler manifolds and then got to fab up the pipes. This is the second set - the first time I did not place the fuel tanks - ooops. Here is all my fancy pipework before it gets hidden by the cab. Thanks for looking in
  18. Clayton - your going to need a moving truck just for all the kits your acquiring.
  19. I have been dragging my feet on this one . The final assembly is something I look so forward to but dread doing it. I wanted to add sound insulation under the cab. I cut aluminum foil in scale 24"x 24" squares then trimmed them to fit under the doghouse. I also need to spray the bottom of the cab and around the insides a bit. Once that is done next will be the lights, mirrors, grab handles ect. My retainer strips are not as straight as I would like - but I can live with them (maybe)
  20. This week I have been making forward progress. I always have problems using prebuilt frames , if it does not have a twist it is curved. This one had a little of both. The twist is permanent due to the cross members being glue welded. I cut the front axle airbags loose and used some styrene disk to shim the axle to level it out. The headache rack now has support legs instead of a leggo block. Arnd -The hood is a butterfly, perhaps the scribed lines will show in the angle of this pic. Also got the Detroit settled in and fabricated the drive lines. Added treadplate behind the fifth wheel. (saw a really cool 1/1 353 over at Tim's site that way) I believe the frame is almost ready for primer. Thanks for looking in and commenting
  21. Dang, Italian was the first thing I thought of. I had a book on early axis aircraft and weapons and remember seeing that picture .
  22. Thanks Mike, I was considering one for a "donas chassis" but that would put the steering box and all that other fun stuff on the wrong side.
  23. WWI German tank ? No idea of the technical name.
  24. Does anyone know it this truck comes with a "left hand dash" like the KW kit does ?
  25. I had this Aurora book , and took it to Goodwill right before I moved along with about 80 Squadron "Walk Around" reference books on aircraft I tried trading them off on several forums and never had any inquires.
