  1. I would like to build a "pancake Freightliner" someday... but it is hard to find any pics. Come ' on JT where is your sense of adventure , build another
  2. Terry this project is very inspiring. Keep at , your almost to home plate. Have you ever used Tamiya tape ? I have found it is very forgiving and used a lot on iffy stuff.
  3. She is a rough and tough looking old gal Very nice work, I am in awe of your weathering techniques.
  4. I miss the old advertisements. Thanks for posting it - I printed it out to decorate my modeling room. I had that same add on my wall when I was a teen many years ago.
  5. This is my method but seems like a lot of modelers do theirs seperate. I am beginning to think I am missing the bus on something ! Clayton - Thanks for the info
  6. I have noticed a lot of modelers paint the hood and fenders seperate. My question is how do you glue the two together after painting without disolving the paint ? I use liquid cement and it is not friendly when it comes in contact with a painted surface. Do you use a CA type cement ?
  7. Some of you know I recently moved . I am still in the process of getting my modeling room set back up. Before the move I had purchased several items to build this Fall. One of them was this Peterbilt assortment of resin and other kit parts. Honestly at the time I was only intrested in the Bill Signs chrome trees included. Several days ago I opened this package and actually looked at it. Somebody had done some really nice work and had a vision that I feel should be continued on. This will be a completly different build for me as I really dont care for stretched trucks. But I feel this truck needs to be built for the time already invested in it. I will be repainting the work already done. Here is a teaser pic I really like the door panels and the dash is nicely done with toggle switches even. Stay tuned
  8. Russel, you never stop amazing me with your unusual builds. This is one of the coolest models I have ever seen !
  9. Fantastic looking truck worth of a front parking space on the display shelf. Glad you stuck with it and toughed it out as this is one really turned out I missed this when it was posted due to moving in July..
  10. Hey those old magazines are treasure, isn't it amazing how talented and the spectacular models that were built without kits ? Rob - my son went into the Navy a year ago straight out of High School. He loves it and is very happy with his decision.
  11. We just moved from Washington state to Montana. I cant wait to get my bench assembled and unpacked. Luckily I have a spare bedroom at my disposal for my hobby stuff again. Not sure what I would do If I did not. I have seen many a wonderful model built from the kitchen or card table. My problem with that is I am too spoiled from always having a designated room to have to clean every time.
  12. That picture brings back some memories. I was just a young kid and my brother who just got his license got to drive my parents '60 Impala station wagon to school. Well being the person he is, he skipped school went for a road trip scored some beer then had a head on accident which left the front of the car looking just like your model. My Dad was not happy *, he pulled the 283 engine and traded it for a l-head Jeep engine. Car was never fixed - it became filler for a washout on an irrigation ditch. Still had the wheels and hubcaps on it. * I was not allowed to get my drivers license until I was 18 thanks to him
  13. I have found Tamiya primer to work very well on odd molded colors. This looks like a nice kit , hope to see you get back on it after seeing the start date on it.
  14. Jim - I dont know about James, but after seeing the two you built I have the hankering to build one. I would like to build one as a single daycab.
  15. That is something else - a very realistic looking truck. If it had a different background I would believe it to be real. I dont even want to be near that 5th wheel plate as that grease would get all over me Excellent Work !
  16. This is a great looking truck your building. Where did you source your rear wheels from ?
  17. Are you rebuilding one ? or just a kit short on parts ?
  18. James, that one was in a "Mack Cruiseliner" kit. Also included was a flyer for "Star Trek" posters.
  19. Your very much welcome. I will try to get a better pic tomorrow when there is better natural light.
  20. Just unpacked the kit that contained this yesterday !
  21. James, there was a Bison kit on eb yesterday with a $25.00 BIN price - just checked on it, someone bid on it for opening bid. (why they didn't pop for the extra $5.00 and seal the deal ) The box was rough but kit looked good. Jim, those are two fantastic looking trucks.
  22. Wow, those look fantastic. Great color combination. Those would look very realistic if not for the tile floor. What is the total length for the both ? If I was to build either of these I hope they turn out as nice as yours.
  23. That is a nice looking cab. You should not have too much trouble mounting it. I have several Aero cabs that I plan on using the 123 chassis for. Seems to me there was no real differences in the frame except the length . But it has been several months since I looked at them . (pre move packing) Other then improving the tilt hinge and relocating the rear cab mount. I plan on using a piece of aluminum or brass tubing between the frame rails with pins for the tilt. Not prototypical but functional.
  24. Those are really cool. I never realized so many cars were featured on matchbooks. Bonus points for the Hobby Shop one ! Several years ago I was in a shop that was cutting a quarter panel off a Ford (cant remember the model) but the guy pulled out a handful of Ford 20th anniversary matchbooks and a coffee cup saying the same. Kind of neat someone left those treasures for the future. Edited as I had the year wrong
