  1. Off and going ! Alan did you shorten your front axle ? It is too wide for the stock tires let alone the T/M wider ones. Also the 1/1 looks like the front has been narrowed quite a bit. Just building this truck stock needs about 1/32 or 3 mm taken from the center. But since this is an older truck pitch the front brake hubs and thin down the inside of the wheel back if you need more clearance.
  2. Very Impressive work, so much can be learned by studying your pics. You have a real eye for bringing out the details.
  3. Kevin, you cant tease us with mention of the "Blue Mule" and not provide a picture. Do you have a build thread on this truck ? Great info Terry !
  4. Yes but I am sure it will be Super once you get going on it !
  5. Thanks Terry Beings this is my first Pete I have ever built , my instruction sheet is nothing but notes on what Not to do and how to do my next one. I painted the fuel tanks with Alclad, BMF for the straps and cap, stripped the chrome steps and painted them body color. Getting down to the last of the parts. Thanks for looking in.
  6. Jim - Thank You ! Those are two Fine looking trucks. The R685ST would look good in front of a set of doubles. The Cruiseliner glass is flawless , nice work on both. I have been accumulating parts to build a Cruiseliner.
  7. Jim - you cant make a reference to such fine trucks without providing pictures.
  8. Oh dern, Anthony is correct - round fuel tanks.. relax , breathe normal...
  9. This was my 50th B-Day present to myself last week . Picked it up off ebay at a $39.99 BIN price. Sadly the kit does not have the spoke wheels as shown on the box. Blasted Alcoa's instead. Anyone know of a good source for spoke wheels ?
  10. Hey Harry, Where my wife and I are moving to in Montana the mail only gets delivered on Monday and Friday. I wonder if it will be coming by horse & rider or by stagecoach ?
  11. I love the color , super sharp. I spent many a Friday nights cruising is a sleeper like this. At the time we thought it was a punishment when all the other kids were driving F-bodys. Now you would be hailed as a hero for having such a classic.
  12. Wow - what a nice looking truck. I am in awe at all of the detail. I also like the fuel tanks color - very realistic. What paint did you use for that ? Thumbs up for the older headlights ! I need to put this one on my wish list - believe it or not the "air clutch" for the fan sold me
  13. Thank you Carl, Jeff & Tom I did find out too late that AMT positioned the tractor and maxi brake knobs wrong. Oh well noted for the next build !
  14. That first picture is fabulous. The old Freightliner cabovers are one of my most favorite trucks. Feel free to drop a pm on adding the skirts - I used a sleeper from a "California Hauler" to make mine. Found it easier to cut and remove then patch it in. The cab curve was a perfect match also. The splice was made right behind the molded in light under the door vent.
  15. Very Impressive, I always wondered how these old timers built up. Yours is looking really good !
  16. That color looks super and I really like the decals also. Very Nice !
  17. Glad you guys like the dash. Maybe I still have some of that mojo from painting all those aircraft IP's for years on end Starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel. Got the hood mounted and figuring the modifications to make the cab line up nice. Thanks for looking in
  18. I like the day cab look myself Nice to see a FLD being worked on.
  19. That is a really nice looking truck. Great to see you were able to save it. Where did you get the decals for the door ?
  20. That is a fancy looking interior. Colors look like real upholstery. Nice work. JT - That is a awesome looking trailer.
  21. That is really Impressive. I could think of all kinds of wondeful things to put on one of those. Very nice work.
  22. JT - what a deal. Wish I could stumble upon a deal like that. Rio's are great trucks.
  23. Mark - thanks for looking in and commenting.Following your build has distracted me some and gave me ideas for that next truck Clayton - I call Elmers the poor mans liquid mask.. Still plugging away at this - I have roughly 7 hrs a day of quiet modeling time. I get about 30 minutes at the bench and spend the rest of my time looking at Tim's awesome sight What turns out to be a quick look at a reference turns into where did the day go. Here is my latest progress. Thanks for looking in.
  24. A Walthers catalog is the reference bible for scratch building supplies.
  25. Good thing the little toad driving the blue rig showed up to take charge and save the day
