  1. That looks really good, thanks for taking the time to post this. Very useful information for an upcoming project.
  2. I really like the tires on this truck - are those from the kit ?
  3. I noticed last time I looked at them at Tower Hobbies they were limited stock - now they have none (unless I am not seeing them) That is too bad - nice kit.
  4. Mark - I really like the way you did the rear wheels.
  5. Nice to see you building this one, especially since your Dad had built it once. Engine looks great, keep us up to date with progress.
  6. Wow - what a beauty ! Nice all the way around. Don't be shy about showing more of your oldies.
  7. Thanks Mark, go back and check out page 1 of this build.
  8. Thank you everyone for the comments and well wishes for the move. I also painted the air deflector for this kit black. I did not mount it for obvious reasons. I really want to find some logos for this truck and some plates for it. Also I normally build a "first kit" clean to learn the quirks then the next of the same will show a rougher life. What do you think - should this truck be pulling a Tanker ?
  9. Jeff - yes the front wheels are poseable. Thank you everyone who followed the progress of this truck. I finished it up as much as I was going to do as it will be packed away for a move to Montana in July. More pics - http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=90085#entry1191810
  10. My goal was to finish this before June 1. Many of you sharp eyed guys will notice a few things not on the Truck - Mirror cross brace, rear mudflaps, stack grab handles. (mirrors are on temporary with white glue as well as the pogo stick) Sadly this will be packed away starting tomorrow 6/1 for a move to Montana. This is the first Peterbilt I have ever built, I am sure I logged in close to 100 hrs at Tims Trucks The pics The build can be seen here http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=87574 I gave this truck poseable front wheels - another first. Thanks for looking, hope you like it as much as I did enjoy assembling it.
  11. More pics of the Dozer http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=69229&hl=
  12. Well that looks pretty nice to me. This is a pretty nice forum you have landed at with some really helpful modelers. I started building trucks as a teenager moved on to other models and went back to Big Rigs 35 years later.
  13. Off and going ! Alan did you shorten your front axle ? It is too wide for the stock tires let alone the T/M wider ones. Also the 1/1 looks like the front has been narrowed quite a bit. Just building this truck stock needs about 1/32 or 3 mm taken from the center. But since this is an older truck pitch the front brake hubs and thin down the inside of the wheel back if you need more clearance.
  14. Very Impressive work, so much can be learned by studying your pics. You have a real eye for bringing out the details.
  15. Kevin, you cant tease us with mention of the "Blue Mule" and not provide a picture. Do you have a build thread on this truck ? Great info Terry !
  16. Yes but I am sure it will be Super once you get going on it !
  17. Thanks Terry Beings this is my first Pete I have ever built , my instruction sheet is nothing but notes on what Not to do and how to do my next one. I painted the fuel tanks with Alclad, BMF for the straps and cap, stripped the chrome steps and painted them body color. Getting down to the last of the parts. Thanks for looking in.
  18. Jim - Thank You ! Those are two Fine looking trucks. The R685ST would look good in front of a set of doubles. The Cruiseliner glass is flawless , nice work on both. I have been accumulating parts to build a Cruiseliner.
  19. Jim - you cant make a reference to such fine trucks without providing pictures.
  20. Oh dern, Anthony is correct - round fuel tanks.. relax , breathe normal...
  21. This was my 50th B-Day present to myself last week . Picked it up off ebay at a $39.99 BIN price. Sadly the kit does not have the spoke wheels as shown on the box. Blasted Alcoa's instead. Anyone know of a good source for spoke wheels ?
  22. Hey Harry, Where my wife and I are moving to in Montana the mail only gets delivered on Monday and Friday. I wonder if it will be coming by horse & rider or by stagecoach ?
  23. I love the color , super sharp. I spent many a Friday nights cruising is a sleeper like this. At the time we thought it was a punishment when all the other kids were driving F-bodys. Now you would be hailed as a hero for having such a classic.
  24. Wow - what a nice looking truck. I am in awe at all of the detail. I also like the fuel tanks color - very realistic. What paint did you use for that ? Thumbs up for the older headlights ! I need to put this one on my wish list - believe it or not the "air clutch" for the fan sold me
  25. Thank you Carl, Jeff & Tom I did find out too late that AMT positioned the tractor and maxi brake knobs wrong. Oh well noted for the next build !
