  1. For some reason this caught my eye, and while I'm not a truck guy per se, all I can say is WOW!! Super excellent weathering, and I swear the last outside pic you took, it looked for all the world like the real deal! A definite A+++ build!!
  2. Yup! Did the same thing myself Chuck! When I'll build it, I'm not sure, but the kit in itself should be MIGHTY impressive! One of my favorite Benz's, and one of my all time favorites of the '50's.
  3. I should say that this would be the first MODERN Benz that I've seen in this scale. How could I forget their other Benz's like the one I sold you Harry? The Porsche I had came with a lot of stuff to detail it with, especially for the engine.......I just flat out lost interest in it.
  4. Ooooooohh! Look at that engine detail!! That's it...........I WILL get one of these!!
  5. I wouldn't mind springing for one of these myself Harry.........I might have to do something about that seam though if that's how it's going to be constructed. This would certainly be a first for a model this size to be a Benz (AFAIK), and it would look mighty impressive sitting on my coffee table.............in a case of course! Got to keep those cats away!
  6. Hmmm.............I'm hoping what Pocher doesn't do is make the doors and such plastic such as in their 1:8 Porsche that I once had. Nice model but could have been so much better if it wasn't executed so "toy like". The plastic construction of the doors comes to mind on the Benz, due to the weight of them wouldn't be as much to support in the "up" position as much as diecast metal. If indeed what Christian posted above is coming detail for detail from Pocher...........I dunno......
  7. Cats can be just as bad! Years ago, my 22 lb. orange Tabby decided to take a leap on top of my dresser drawer. Just so happens that a '58 Studebaker Golden Hawk that I had finished a few years earlier was in a case on top of the dresser. Well, they say that cats always land on their feet-------well almost! Kitkat missed his "landing spot" on the drawer, and ended up toppling the model over in its case, wrecking the hood. Needless to say, I was FURIOUS and the cat had the nerve to take off and hide for the next several hours. Knowing cats though, it was probably out of embarrassment, and not that I was terrifically angry at him!
  8. Ditto what Chopper said! This kit has so many good things going for it, I overlooked that one too! Very easy fix, and shouldn't really give anyone a coronary.
  9. It makes me wonder if Pocher will go the same route as Eaglemoss-----offer the kit as part of a subscription. Although, that would make the build achingly slow for those of us that want to keep steady at building this, and doesn't seem to be Pocher's "thing". Hey Skip, when you speak of the Mustang, are you talking about this? That's another one I've been dreaming about! If Pocher did offer this, it would be a first for them, as I don't believe they've ever had an American car in their lineup AFAIK.
  10. Ooooooooh!! I just happened to see my next Holy Grail! That is a definite MUST HAVE in my collection before I leave this earth!! I would LOVE to see Pocher branch out into more classics in 1:8! '57 Corvette anyone?? Or how 'bout a '63 Ferrari 250 GT Lusso??
  11. While I like all makes if it interests me, my Dad was a Chrysler man through and through, as that's all he owned until the last which was a Honda. I give my nod more to Mopars more than anything else as they were the most memorable to me as a kid growing up in the '60's and '70's. One of the MOST memorable cars that I can remember Dad having was a '57 Plymouth Belvedere circa 1965-66. Those fins were very hard to forget! Interesting enough, at the end of '14 when I knew that I would have to spend the money to get another car, Dodge's Challenger was not on my radar at first, until a friend raved about this car that was at the dealer's just around the corner from him. Of course, I got nosy and well---------the Challenger came home with me! Rarity might have a lot to do with why I like Mopars a bit more than anything else. You'll see GM's and Fords all day on a nice day going down the road, but you just don't see as many Mopars. They're out there, but not as prolific as the other makes, especially the vintage muscle cars.
  12. Future can only be brushed or airbrushed on. The actual name is "Pledge with Future Shine". If you need to brush it on, I recommend going to the hardware store and pick up a "foam brush". Much less chance of seeing brush strokes if using one of those. Hope this helps!
  13. Bo, Future is excellent in sealing that nasty red or yellow plastic from bleed-through. Some fellas poo-poo the idea that plastic can "bleed", but it does something to that effect as the plastic may have a strong color content in that regular primering doesn't do the trick. Eventually, enough coats of primer would stop the bleed-through, but then if there's scripts or other details that need to be seen, they're buried under multiple coats of primer. I like to use another product in sealing bodywork, and colored plastic.............. Been using this for awhile, and if this doesn't work, nothing will! I airbrush it on (I recommend the heavy tip for this), and alcohol will thin it out if need be. Keep up the great work! I had one of these Pocher kits years ago, (the one with the dual spare and folding top), but 1:8 scales are not really my thing, and I eventually sold it to Harry P, who built it here on the board.
  14. I look no further than what Revell did between their '59 and '60 Chevy Impala hardtop kits. Same basic car in 1:1, but IMO Revell (then Monogram) missed the mark in the shape of the roofline on the '59------totally wrong in my eyes. They do the '60 a bit later, and it's 'bout perfect. One of the reasons I did the roof swap that I did when I wanted to build my '59. So yeah, there were some major "corrections and interpretations" going on there!
  15. This is an interesting thread because a while back, I thought about doing this exact conversion. The pics are a big help as I can see just where changes need to be made. Y'all know I have no problem hacking and cutting away at plastic------so those molded in fenders are no problem for me. I have to wonder what the engineers involved with the Imperial way back when, why they decided to stick with the separate frame, while the rest of ChryCo went unibody starting with the '60 models? Sales numbers? Exclusivity? Thanks for all the info!
  16. You all saw the pic I posted yesterday...........here's an update on what's piled up since! The view from my back porch......... There's a car under there............somewhere! Making some progress......... That looks like more than 30½ inches, but OK....... At this point the car is completely free and facing the other way. Needless to say, I still have a lot more shoveling to do as I have yet to get to the front of the house, and also to make a wider path for me to park in the back. The borough I live in still has their Snow Emergency in effect till Wednesday at 3 PM. I'm definitely taking the day off tomorrow! In my 5½ decades on this planet, I've NEVER seen this much snow in such a short period of time! It certainly beats the snow we had back in '83 which was 25", and the '96 storm we had pales in comparison even though that one was much more destructive when we had this happen............. OK, all of you who had a like snowfall out there, PLEASE BE CAREFUL! Shoveling snow can be the toughest thing on your body, especially if you're one who's not a regular exerciser! It really can take a toll!
  17. My CATS seemed to like what I got them. As for me, I enjoyed some leftover pizza I've had in the freezer for awhile, some ice cream, and a brownie. Besides being snowed in, today's a "cheat day" for me. Tomorrow it's back to normal food wise-----well almost! With all the shoveling I have to do (and probably re-shoveling due to drifting), I may stray a bit and have something "decadent".
  18. Well, in a sense there's a bit of Karma at play here. She's one of those kind of neighbors that HAS to be parked right in front of her door no matter what! I had enough of the butt of her car parked partially in the driveway of my place, so I called the police as technically she was illegally parked (the corners are painted yellow). This was the last resort as I had (a couple times) ASKED her to please move up about five feet or so I can get out easier and avoid an accident. They must have ticketed her as she no longer parked that way. I got soooo tired of having to swing way out into opposing traffic to avoid hitting the back of her car, so I simply called the police and let them take care of it. Now with this really big snow we've had, she's now faced with not just the towing fees, but also the fines and storage fees for wherever her car is. Too add to that, where in the world could she put it as EVERYTHING is snowed in, unless you had a space beforehand?
  19. As of now according to our Harrisburg Intl Airport, we got 28.6 inches and it's still snowing! This is THE BIGGEST snowstorm we've ever had in this area since records were kept, and then we'll have blowing snow to deal with. My biggest gripe will be where to put all the snow since my car is literally BURIED in the back of my house. I had a neighbor who lives a couple houses from me have her car towed. As I mentioned before, the road I live on is a snow emergency route, and there's NO PARKING ON THE STREET while the emergency is in effect. Well, she insisted on leaving her car there knowing a storm was coming and sure enough, the tow truck came with the police there, and they scooped it up and took it away. So while it's a pain to deal with all the snow at the back of the house where I park, better that than to deal with having your car to God knows where.
  20. I'd sure like to see Round 2 offer those tires as a part of a separate set!
  21. No such luck on a snow blower Jim. It'll all be hand and arm power for me. My next door neighbors are a young couple (early 30's) so of course, they'll be out helping. Some kids will come by probably later and offer to shovel in front of the house. I'll have to see how tired I am to have them do it........ If it's still bad come Monday morning with blowing and drifting snow............guess who's going to take a snow day from work??
  22. Well, I just took this shot that's in the back of my house just 10 minutes ago............ There's maybe two feet already?? You can't even tell that's my Challenger BURIED under all that snow! The other car is my next door neighbor's Kia Sportage. They usually park on the street (something I NEVER do), but the road we live on is a "Snow Emergency Route", which is in effect for the time being. NO parking is allowed while the snow emergency is on, and they reserve the right to tow your car away if you're in violation of that. As of right now, it's still snowing quite hard, and it's not to let up till sometime this evening. Of course, tomorrow the fun begins as I'll be digging myself and the neighbor's car out. The winds are to really pick up though, so it may be a feckless attempt to even try. Sigh...............already I wish it were Spring...........
  23. Lookin' Good Luis! I'll go so far as to say that will be a giant killer when done!
  24. Chris, I'm a big fan of the polishing cloths as they're more versatile to me. The pads are nice, but you're limited to broad flat surfaces such as a roof or hood, and then you have to be careful about any creases or ridges getting the paint wore away. The cloths at least I can fold up and get in those tight places if need be. I still have the foam block from years ago, so the pads to me are a bit redundant.
  25. Well, HOPEFULLY they get this sorted out! I do have two of these......one original untouched kit, and a built one I did about 20 years ago. I'd like another one as I'm a BIG fan of this car, and it's the ONLY correct version I know of that would sell for a reasonable price. Italeri's kit can bring horrendously big bucks on the 'Bay (and they rarely turn up), Gunze's 250 GT SWB while nice is very pricey, and the body shape misses the mark IMO in some areas. Forget Esci's kit.......to me it's pure junk as the body is woefully inaccurate, and of course, it's the one that turns up the most on eBay. Then there is Model Factory Hiro's version------very nice but price wise is in the stratosphere for most builders!
