  1. These pics I took just last night..........my camera was on a tripod on a desk and it sits rather low-----making me seem taller than I am. I'm 6' 3" and as of this morning I weigh 256. I just got in from the gym and they have a very accurate scale there. You would have been floored by my Great-Grandfather who WAS 7 foot!
  2. Well, I just posted a pic of myself in another thread................you all can check HERE.
  3. I don't mean to hijack the thread................but this has been another one of my "obsessions" for the past year or so! As promised a couple new pics of me taken just a bit ago........................ Just goes to show that it CAN be done..................and your health will be the better for it. BTW, the shirt I'm wearing is an XL (and it's a little too big now), that's a far cry from the 3XL's I was literally busting out of just a couple years ago!
  4. Hey I remember that picture! Has it been five years already?? In that photo Cruz, I'm a good 295-300 lbs then! Like you said, it all starts with the mind-------I go to the gym at least four times a week to run the treadmill, or do the elliptical machine. There's also a workout routine I do here at home (bodyweight exercises), as I don't have time to be in the gym more than 30-40 minutes. Diet is a bigger part than exercise though.............I try to stick to as many 1 ingredient foods as possible! This means no (or very little) prepackaged stuff, no high carbohydrate foods for the most part, and absolutely stay away from anything containing corn, soy, wheat or dairy. I do give myself a "cheat" day which is usually Saturdays when I'll eat just about anything. By Sunday, it's back to normal. You're looking pretty good there in that pic Cruz, I can definitely see a difference from five years ago! Later on, I'll snap an up to date photo of me and post it here. Edit: Actually if you look at my profile pic, that was taken a couple months ago...................a better pic is coming!
  5. Congrats Gregg! I know where you're coming from as I once weighed just over 320 lbs as of June '09. Well, after too many nights of acid reflux, knees and ankles hurting constantly, and the big threat of diabetes looming-------I decided to change things drastically. As of today, I weigh 257 lbs........I went from a size 50 in pants down to a 40 and I stand 6' 3". My goal is to be back to a size 38 where I was when I got out of the military in '92. My knees and ankles no longer hurt, and my blood sugar was checked recently and it was normal. Clothes fit a LOT better, and I don't have to be embarrassed by going outside with just a t-shirt on (if you know what I mean). Keep up the great work, and if I can give one bit of advice as told to me by an older gentleman at the gym one day................"Getting rid of fat is part of the battle-----Keeping it off is war!"
  6. Nice job on that '60 Bill! Those subtle changes make a big difference in the end result................that's where good research comes in.
  7. Excellent work on a classic that will never die! Nice and clean!
  8. Excellent work on that Olds----------and that's how the doors should open on that one! I got to give you a compliment that your doors open straight out as they should, and not "sag" when opened.
  9. If all else fails, check out one of the Revell/Monogram Jeep kits which come with an AMC V8. All AMC V8's from the 290 through the 401 were the same externally---------you might have to scratch together an air cleaner, but the basic bits are there in the Jeep V8's.
  10. Very nice build! I'm a big fan of AMX's ever since I used to own one (a '69) years ago. And yes, that is one of the nicer colors for that car. Looks like he used the old Johan one (or its reissue)-----in fact, I believe Johan was the only one to make that kit although some were reboxed as AMT kits.
  11. It will be 33 years for me come this fall.............didn't get started until I was 17 and in my last year of high school. IIRC, my first model was Monogram's very recently new '57 Corvette kit. I had stopped for a couple years in the mid '80's, but picked it back up again and haven't looked back.
  12. Are you guys using the yellow can Easy Off and NOT the "fume free" stuff?? That fume free junk is worthless IMO. If it's not working, either Easy Off isn't as potent as it used to be, or the model companies are now using some mighty potent undercoating which the only result might be sanding it away.
  13. Easy Off (yellow can) should take that stuff off with no problem!
  14. Jon, do you or anyone else know when this kit's supposed to be released? I've seen it mentioned, but have not seen any test shots or heard anything about it in a while.
  15. One of my favorite '60's road racers done up right! That shade of blue is especially striking! I've got Harold Bradford's (HRM) resin kit of this car, but I've been too chicken to tackle it. Harold does such an excellent job casting and packaging it, it's almost like molesting a fine work of art!
  16. Jeff you really captured "the look" on this one! Something about those steelies gives it a rather sinister look! I've got this one too and haven't looked at it in years................now I've got some ideas.....................
  17. Yup! That's one neat feature with Mozilla. You can also do that as well in IE but I seldom use IE for various reasons!
  18. There's also always the "Print Screen" option when all else fails.
  19. A 1969 AMX 390 as I once owned one! Mine was a very basic, go fast, no options car. It even had vacuum wipers! I haven't built a model of it yet though as I have several kits including a '70. Second favorite would have to be that Superbird at the top of the page. I was fortunate enough to get a good look at this car every other weekend when these were new. A friend of the family had a next door neighbor who had a white one with a Hemi (I think).............when we would go over to her house for Sunday dinner for instance, there it was usually parked right in front of her door! They were cheap cars for a long time throughout the '70's.............but come the '80's, prices EXPLODED! Anyone who has one these days it's like having rolling real estate!
  20. I'm not much into lowriders, but I'm really into '58 Chevy's and that one is mighty cool! LOVE the color and graphics!
  21. Right Steve.............AMC 390's were a bit of a metallic blue with a very slight hint of green------the exact name was called "Alamosa Aqua". My 1:1 '69 AMX's engine was painted in that color. Here are a couple pics out of a restored car.............. This shouldn't be too hard to mix manually.............some dark blue and a touch of green, and some aluminum to mix. Just keep adding the aluminum to the blue/green til you get it.
  22. You guys are talkin' Studebakers, why not a 1957-58 Golden Hawk?? That would be one I'd buy in a heartbeat!
  23. There's a way around that with Windows Snipping Tool in Vista...........Hee Hee!
  24. Hmmm.......I wasn't even noticing the opened decklid! I was looking at the front roof crown as the Revell one always looked more accurate to me than the old AMT version. The Revell one's a good kit BTW------------shouldn't have much of an issue building it when you get all the pieces.
  25. Justin, others may have different methods, but the best way for me is to use the BACK edge of an Exacto blade. This will take some time and you'll need to be patient-------but you simply want to keep rescribing the door lines on each side of the door until it breaks free. Now you may need to add some plastic back to the door to keep the door shut lines realistic (no huge gaps), but since you haven't done this before, I highly recommend you practice on a junk body (bodies) until you get the hang of it. When I have a door that's overly thick in the door section (molded thick), I might take my dremel tool and grind out some of the plastic around the perimeter of the door opening, so that my knife doesn't have to do so much work. HTH!
