  1. I've noticed that the board is running a LOT faster than previously! That's nice as I'll be posting another somewhat lengthy update on the Merc later on! Whatever souped up job you did to the board fellas, she's movin' mighty fast now on my end!
  2. Hi Gary and welcome! We had a thread about that recently here.........if you want to check it out, just click here. Hope this helps you out some!
  3. Welcome aboard Gary! That '61 Olds resin is worth more than you paid for the entire stash! Some guys have all the luck! I agree also that '60 Pontiac Bonneville is DEFINITELY worth bringing back to life!
  4. Very Nice!! I think the limit is ten photos per post, but trust me......you won't get "barked at" by the caliber of work I've seen so far!
  5. Beautiful "B" body!! Some might sniff at this one because it's 1/24th..........but IMO it's the more accurate of the B-Bodies compared to AMT's that were put out a while back. Nice touch with the hood pins!
  6. That kit is one you have to follow the instructions to a T!! Nothing can be taken for granted with that one as it can be pretty fiddly! You've got a great start on the chassis and body paint so far! I've got a restorable one that's begging to be restored, as well as a new kit...........which one I'll ever start on is anyone's guess.
  7. Hmmm.........that's interesting Bob! I wonder if they changed things yet again since the time I bought mine back in the spring? You've seen the BMF demo I did on my Merc buildup...........it was the "new and improved" sheet that's on it. I didn't have any trouble with that sheet, but I'm going to have to replace it soon!
  8. Cruz you did it! Those BMF'd tail-lights look good! Now see, that wasn't so hard was it??
  9. Well, I saw this on another site, and was blown away by the "Obsessiveness"! I didn't want to spill the beans, but I knew what it was as soon as I saw it!
  10. Lookin' good as usual Cruz! Yeah, get crackin' on foiling those slots on the tail-lights!
  11. Either that Cruz, or just lay the BMF on the very edge of the ridge, and then take your X-acto and cut in the open space of the slot. Any excess you can "tuck" under the backside of the tail-light slot.
  12. VERY ambitious project!! I'm curious to see how this one goes! First issue '59 convertibles were molded in blue, while the hardtop AFAIK has always been in white. I have the convertible that I've got the roof section and other parts to do a "flat-top" 4 dr hardtop............the ambition's got to hit me really hard though before I'll tackle that!
  13. I'd have to check with my Dad.........he's the one who would have taken any pics, or at least one of his brothers/sisters may have. Plus we're talking circa 1967-68 so who knows if the pics (if they're still around) would be in decent shape. I did recently find a pic of my sister and I standing in front of my Mom's then new '68 Javelin. I had posted that one on the board so ya never know!
  14. One question I have about this kit is this............Does anyone know which year this kit is supposed to represent?? 1962-'63? If I buy this one and decide to do a factory stock version, I want to get the exterior color correct and whatnot.
  15. Section an inch or two out of the middle of the body (it still looks "fat" to me), make it a true hardtop, and I'd be all over it!
  16. Great work so far guys! I'm glad that they molded the windshield frame separate from the rest of the body. Nothing's more irritating than a bent windshield frame---------no kind of bending/shaping will ever get it right if it happens!
  17. That's it! Ours didn't have the slot car "tracks" though.............just some stout guard rails to keep things safe. If the cars went more than 10MPH tops----they were doing something! Thanks for the pics!
  18. HA!! That's so neat! Back in the late '60's, I can very distinctly remember an amusement park ride at Hersheypark here in Central PA that had something called the "Turnpike". Their cars looked an awful lot like your Desoto bodies! The "road course" was about a ¼ mile long........and you got to drive by yourself. As a seven year old kid, I LOVED this ride------it was my favorite one in the whole park! IIRC, the cars were powered by gasoline lawn mower engines of some sort. Unfortunately, sometime in the '70's they took the '50's cars away, and replaced them with "brass era" cars. They also changed the rules that at least two people had to be in the cars. Of course by that time I was driving my own car, and I had no more interest in them. That's a very interesting piece! Thanks for bringing back the memories!
  19. Water based acrylic paint is no where near as "hot" as an automotive lacquer/acrylic enamel one. Using an automotive primer UNDER the acrylic paint shouldn't be a problem. The reverse though would be hair-raising!
  20. To answer your dehydrator questions........enamel needs a good 8 hours in the dehydrator to dry completely. It's one of the reasons I so dislike hobby enamels---------they take so dang long to fully cure. Problem is there are some hues that you just can't get in a fast drying lacquer IMO (some of Humbrol's neat colors come to mind), so the next best thing is the dehydrator.
  21. Whoops! I almost forgot about this one! I built this little gem back in '98.............It's starting to show its age though............
  22. Ditto! I wouldn't have thought of using the '57 Chrysler for it's wheelwells! Knowing how I do things, I would have filed out the wells, filed, and filed some more! Then cursing because I gouged the trim! Excellent save Bud! She's gonna be really sharp with your attention to details!
  23. Bud, Don and Carol sell the dash separately......Just click the link below if you want to order it. 1959 Dodge Custom Royal Dashboard
  24. Hmmm.............John, looking at my 1:1 pics and comparing it to my Johan body, it seems that it would involve more than just raising the rear wheelwells....... The whole entire side trim would have to be raised a scale inch or so.........I'm not sure Bud would want to go through all the trouble for that! Here's a pic of a 1:1................ I say either ignore it, or throw some skirts on it and call it a day! Good one on the '58 Plymouth! That's one that I have all what I need to fix it...........it's a matter of getting the ambition to do it all. Edit: On closer look............naaaah I'd leave the trim alone. Gotta be careful you don't get too close to damaging the side trim if you're going to modify the wheelwells like you mentioned John. You learn something new every day!
  25. I've got several of those Johan '59's and I never notice the rear wheelwells! I DO know if one wants to start fixing that horrendous RC2 '58 Plymouth.......the Johan '59 Dodge has the perfect roofline. You'd have to swap windshield frames from the '57 Chrysler though as the Plymouth hardtop wouldn't get the "bubble-wrapover" windshield until '59.
