Hmmm..........Nice list there! I'd like the '66 Chevy and the '72 Olds as well! I hope Revell doesn't cheap out and neglect to include an uptop for the Olds. Interesting to see the Big Tub back too...............now what do I do with the two that I have? I've got a built one and an original unbuilt in the box. I'll have to get some more shelf space to put 'em! Now if they could just give us some new cars! I'd love to see the new ZR-1, Corvette Grand Sport, Saturn Sky, Cadillac CTS..................

Revell 2009 Dodge Challenger
MrObsessive replied to Gregg's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Yes, I always thought the car was too "tall" and "fat" to be really appealing to my view. The car's platform is based on the Charger/300 so it's stuck with those unfortunate proportions. The dash to front axle distance of the platform unfortunately dictates the length of the hood which seems short to me also compared to the original. In better times Chrysler would have designed this car from scratch (just like the old days!) but with them about to be bought out by Fiat (maybe) this car will most likely be short lived. A pity.......... -

Bernard, BMF has recently been cleaning up their act regarding bad sheets of foil. I got a new sheet back in January (It said "New" on it) and so far so good! I just used it a couple days ago on my Cougar II build for the scripts, and it's sticking very well. You've definitely got a bad sheet there as everyone else has mentioned. Take your time with the BMF......it may seem a bit intimidating at first, but once you've used it and have mastered it, you'll definitely be spoiled by BMF!

Click here for a website that has a '57 300C under full restoration. VERY nice pics and excellent detail showing to do that kit!

I got one of these recently as I was VERY impressed by the beautiful box art! I've always liked the 1960-61 Fords (I saw enough of 'em as a kid) and the Starliner is one of Fords best designs to come out of that era. Yup Brian! I'm looking at the kit right now and they give you TWO complete engines to build! One to put in the car, and one to display next to it!
-
ABSOLUTELY IMPRESSIVE!! I'm blown away by the detail of this thing Greg! Tamiya does great detail to begin with in this scale but you're doing this fine kit super justice!

Beautiful Modena!! That Paintscratch is some good stuff ain't it? Just about any color you want and doesn't cost an arm and a leg to get exact colors!

This is my favorite color for this gen 'Vette! Absolutely beautiful David! Stance is spot on also for this kit!

Reasons For My Self- Inflicted Exile
MrObsessive replied to Harold's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I wish I got that kind of deal when I got my house several years ago! Anyway, you'll find a WORLD of difference between renting and owning. The breaking point for me when I wanted to move was every landlord getting neurotic when I mentioned that I had two cats. I finally put my foot down and decided to BUY a home..........so if I want to put a pink elephant in the basement-----I can do so without a neurotic landlord. -
Ooohh! I love those old Studes! That color is spot on for that body style! Especially the later Hawks I could look at for hours! Nice job!!

straighten out a resin body
MrObsessive replied to drodg's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
Hot water and then ice will work BUT...............make sure NOT to wash the body in hot water again to clean it as the distortion may come back. Resin does have a memory and it can go back to the shape it was before you changed it. Also, I wouldn't recommend using a dehydrator to quick dry the paint as the warp in the resin can also return this way. HTH! -

Problems with Itunes
MrObsessive replied to FujimiLover's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Hmmm........this is why I LOVE Carbonite! Backs up everything silently for 50 bucks a year........UNLIMITED STORAGE! Suffered a hard disc crash? Once you get the new hard drive in and Windows restored, log on to Carbonite and SHAZAAM!! All your files are back on your hard drive! I've got it on my desktop for sure, I've also got an 8GB thumb drive to transfer files to the laptop when needed. Backups are critical in our digitized world of today. -
Problems with Itunes
MrObsessive replied to FujimiLover's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Just a shot in the dark, but what OS are you running? Also how much memory (RAM) does your computer have? Low memory and/or incompatible OS's can cause iTunes or the like crash or not respond. Have you downloaded the latest security updates from Microsoft for your OS? (I'm assuming your running Windows) It could be when you upgraded your iTunes, you might need to have a newer OS such as Vista with Service Pack 1 for instance. Also your registry might be screwed up in some way..............you might try running a registry repair program (PC Tools Registry Mechanic is a good one). Other than that, I don't know what else to tell you except to make sure your data is backed up somehow and reformat the drive. You'd be basically wiping the disk clean, and reinstalling everything, but you would get your computer back to the way it was. Your computer should tell you if there are any bad sectors on the drive-------has it done this? Hard drives don't always necessarily give a warning when they're about to go........they just go. Just the same as I mentioned above, back up all your data and maybe go get yourself a new hard drive just in case. One more thought-------I can't stress enough how important it is to BACK UP YOUR FILES! Hard disk crashes are common and your case is a classic example when this can be a must! Hope all this helps! -
World's Smallest V12
MrObsessive replied to Nick F40's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Ahhhh! Nothing sounds like a Ferrari! Even in small scale! That one I definitely saved on my hard disc...............I love hearing that over and over! -
I might let it sit overnight to make sure it's rock hard before spraying. Future is also good to put over bodywork that may involve superglue as superglue doesn't always react well with certain paints. Alclad comes to mind in that regard. The Ferrari you see in my signature was airbrushed with Future before primer and paint because I used superglue as a filler in certain areas. Granted the color coat is acrylic enamel (Krylon) but the primer IIRC, was lacquer based. Also check here for pics of my '05 'Vette buildup. Because of the soft plastic Revell used in this kit, I also coated the body with Future. While the primer was a acrylic enamel base (I think) the top coat was definitely lacquer as it dried almost instantly.

I totally agree there..........each engine had it's own "signature" or sound to the trained ear. As well did Ford and Mopar. Of course it came down to the almighty dollar--------but the end of discontinued makes isn't over yet! There will be more dominoes to fall before this is all over I'm afraid.
-
I've used a heavy dose of Future Floor Wax to barrier against that sort of thing. Now some poo-poo Future, but I've been doing this for years and y'all know my builds by now. For those of you unfamiliar with Future and it's many uses......just click here for some great tips.
