  1. Aww Shoot! I forgot all about the Anniversary today...........too much goin' on lately with the house and all............ Cake looks reeeeeally good! Hopefully the dust will be settled enough so I can get down there to chow down at the Christmas Party!
  2. Darin, that is a real stunner for sure!! It would be sweet if someone who is just lurking here took your idea and made a 1:1 out of it..........yours is that stunning! 8)
  3. Yeah, I talked to Steve Kohler from Star Models a couple weeks ago, and he said that Ray hasn't sent him anything for a while..........He didn't have any of the kits I wanted. Ray had open heart surgery a while back, and when I last talked to Ray (maybe 3 weeks ago) he said he won't be doing any more of the smaller shows. I was hoping that he would have made it to our show here in PA.....but that's not to be. He said that from pretty much from here on out, he's only going to focus on the larger shows, like Toledo, NNL East, Etc......... There's a number of neat kits he makes I want to get from him!
  4. Dave, at a well stocked hardware store they sell a "sponge brush". What's nice about this is if you need to brush paint something by hand, the sponge brush shouldn't leave any brush strokes. As Andy said, Future is pretty self leveling as it is, but the sponge brushes come in a variety of widths.....much wider than your standard paint brushes. This would make things easier covering everything in only one or two passes.
  5. That's a cool car! 8) Is that the old Monogram model? Don't see too many of them lately! I would like to get the resin of the '56 Caddy Eldorado Seville.............but they're hard to get unless you can catch up with the Ray (R&R) at one of the major shows. Were you planning to keep it stock, or make it into something else?
  6. I wish I could Roberto......... I'll be moving from where I am into a new place sometime in the near future..........after being put through the ringer by simple landlords and property managers..........I'm now fed up and planning to BUY my own home now. In fact I'm going to take a look at my first property Tuesday, and if all goes well and I like it, I can move in this time next month. Unfortunately, it won't leave me much money to do anything else for awhile. Hopefully I can make it next year as I'm dying to get back down there again! Nos vemos!
  7. Easy Off works well for me........however if you use this, be sure to get the Easy Off in the yellow can! The Fume Free doesn't do a dang thing and it's a real waste of time! :x What I like best about the Easy Off is that it will also take off the clear lacquer that the model companies use in the plating process. I'm not sure the CSC or Westley's does that. As with all these products MAKE SURE you're wearing rubber gloves as each of these products are nasty to your skin!
  8. Some of the other guys will have their favorites......but one I've been using since 1994 is the Badger Crescendo. Yes, it's the very same airbrush I've had since '94 and besides replacing the needle bearing, it hasn't missed a beat! It's easy to take apart to clean, and you can get different size nozzles and needles for it. The best thing though is the tip head is made flush so you don't get that buildup of paint in the tip.......causing spitting and causing you to curse! I've sprayed Alclad many of times through it with no trouble at all...........although I recommend spraying Alclad through the finest tip that the Crescendo offers.
  9. Siggghhh! Makes me wish I still had my 1:1 '69...... Beautiful job Bob! I think yours is the only one I've ever seen done with the shadow treatment! Interestingly, I still scour eBay once in a while to see if my 1:1 shows up somehow. Believe it or not, I still know the VIN number on that car after all these years!
  10. Ahhhhh! That looks good now Ismael! 8) The other one wasn't bad...........maybe just a bit too low. I'm guessing you used acrylic paints?
  11. I'll say!!...............Looks like a real car that woulda raced in '74! That Modelking kit gives me an idea...........wonder how much trouble it would be to make that a street car??
  12. Here ya go Terry.............You have to have the directly behind the URL for it to work. Interesting pic BTW........
  13. Alex's tutorial is great especially about using a tight knit strainer when applying it. However, there's one important piece of equipment you may seriously want to consider....... A respirator, or at the least some kind of dust mask. Those flocking particles are very fine, and if you're susceptible to any dust or have any asthma/allergy troubles, I would strongly advise wearing one when using flocking. When I apply flocking I'm a little more timid in how I apply it because of all the dust. I apply it square by square as per this pic here......... Then I pat it down like Alex does..... I just can't stand all the flocking going everywhere......and it kinda saves on the flocking in case you're running low. BTW, sorry about the big original pic.......I forgot to resize it before I posted it! Hope all this helps!
  14. FANTASTIC!! I Love It!! 8)
  15. Cruz, you may not think so........but I think this is one of the best ones you've built! Getting those doors on and getting them to operate correctly is a trifle difficult on those old tool kits. Stance is nice too for a car that's about to launch down the line! 8)
  16. Cruz did an Altered Wheelbase!! 8) Wish I could have made it yesterday.............got too much goin' on here trying to house hunt.
  17. Hey Cruz......... There should be a "add image" URL at the bottom left hand corner of the message box. Click on that, and a separate window will show up. Click browse, and you can upload photos out of your hardrive and then they will show up on your post as a semi thumbnail. One needs only to click on the pic to get the full size version. Otherwise, you need a photo hosting service (ie: Fotki) and use the image tags which in your text box will look something like this....... If you use Fotki, you need to get the "Share Photo" URL to get the pic to show up here. Play around with it and give it a shot!
  18. Irv, here's Ron's pics.........just resized a bit so they'll fit on the screen..........
  19. Lookin' good so far Ron!.......I wish someone could see fit to repop this one in plastic or resin! Bob, as far as the photo host..............I agree. I think you have to resize the pics on your hardrive (I have Paint Shop Pro) to keep them a reasonable size, but it would be nice if the photo host did that automatically. :? Maybe 600-700 pixel range wouldn't be so bad..........
  20. I don't see a problem Bill as it looks GREAT!! 8) Has an old school "American Graffiti" feel to it for sure! I like your engine details for that 'ol Chevy straight six!
  21. Nice Job John! Hmmm........I don't have one of those in my stash..............I should try and find one. It's nice to see a '63 built with the standard hubcaps instead of the more common knockoffs.
  22. Good Job Samantha! 8) It's nice to see a young lady getting into the hobby!
  23. Happy belated birthday Casey! Gee what a cool Mom you have! 8) Nobody did that for me when I turned 16! Come to think of it, I can't remember what I got for my 16th birthday many years ago!
  24. Well, 'bout time you made it! hehehe Guys, you're gonna see some real sharp work from him! 8)
  25. Whoops! Sorry 'bout that...........it is the quart can I have! I was thinking about the paint cans I get from the local shop that are the pints. It would be nice though if BIN came in a smaller size since the spray cans are hard to find where I am. Probably another hardware store in the area does have the sprays............but I hate shopping and traipsing all over creation for one small item. I also hate calling about something.............might as well speak Turkish to them as a lot of clerks have no clue what I'm talking about. :?
