So since our Dr left the office we saw a new Dr at another office within the same organization. My wife is a nurse and my interpreter on medical terms or to what level I' screwed. I swear it was like watching a tennis match them two going back and forth like I'm not in the room. While I got the A1C down from down from 9.9 to 7.7, it's crept up to 8.3. WTH....No Doritos...no peanut butter cookies.....no pop. She's keeping me on the Metformin, but switching to extended release which more people seem to tolerate {read as less explosive diarrhea}. I also get one of the injectable meds too. Thankfully I married into the medical field as I had so many allergy shots as a kid I don't do needles! On the plus side, my BP actually read low for one in....ever. So we know those meds are working well. My mom died of a massive stroke in 2007 as she had high BP but never took the meds and tossed them I her dresser. I have a lesson close to my heart to do what the Dr says. Showing my age here but growing up one of my favorite bands was Molly Hatchet. Lead singer Danny Joe Brown left the band and came back a few years later but he passed of complications of diabetes. Just wasn't the same with the new lead and can remember how it impacted my music choice at that time. It really stuck with me....

Dr called in an Rx for pain med at 9a today until she can get in to see the neurologist. Walgreen's having no sense of urgency sends her a text at 2p it's ready. By the time I get Frank (dachshund) in his crate and a few other things its 2:20p so I make the ten minutes drive. One car ahead of me in the drive through (judging by the number cars in the parking lot it would be too peoplely inside). Few minutes later, I roll up....."Oh we're just finishing it up, should be another 5-10 minutes" Seriously? I told the young lady its no problem, put the car in park, put the tinted window back up and turned the stereo back on! I'm not driving around or going to do something as you texted her 30 plus minutes ago. About 90 seconds later, oh look the little ray of sunshine is back with my Rx. Wow...I seriously just channeled my father on this one! I still have a pact with a neighbor that if either of us catch the other mowing the grass in black socks and sandals, just take that person out! No warning shot!!

Went to the lab to get my blood drawn for a twice a year check up. We went to an office on the East side but the Nurse Practioner left that office when the Dr she was practicing under retired. Until they got a replacement NP, they had floaters covering the office. Once they were drawn, they said a new set of orders were put in place for the next appointment. I show up and there's no orders......WTH?!?!?! I call the Dr office and they said that since I'm seeing a different NP, they would have to put in the orders not knowing what they want to check. Well......I didn't always see the primary NP at the former office yeah visit so since its all the same organization, not sure why this is different? I'm on blood pressure meds as well as A1C meds...maybe test for at least those??? She started making excuses again and I told her 'incompetance....total and complete incompetance!" and hung up. Two other times, that office forgot to tell me to fast before my visits so they couldn't run some of the tests. Last time, the NP asked me why and I told her to go ask Tanya at the front desk as I even asked if I needed to and she said I didn't have to.

Ohio BMV!! Their motto should be Home of the Sloth!! Tried for trifecta of plates for the car I bought for my son for college, renew mine and get the updated drivers license. Can't do the drivers license as I don't have the plethora of ID's. When we got to the plates, he asked what color is the Hyundai? What did you have originally? It's still the same color! I said its a Genesis per the badging on the inside and outside of the vehicle. Ohio had it as a Hyundai (which make Genesis). Went back today for the drivers license. Presented the lady at the first counter all of my infot, gave me a form to fill out all the info they have on the current license so I packed it all back up and sat in the bullpen. When I got called up to the other guy, I had to start all over puling out the information. When I asked why, he said he had to scan it into their system. I presume that placing the docs on the scanner at Step One was above her skill set. The geek taking my pic encouraged people to smile for the drivers license pic. I had a serious over this three ring circus and it looks like a mug shot. Only time my license leaves my wallet is when getting carded or their is an officer at the drivers side window so I wouldn't be smiling at that time!

NFS.....the boxed promos were $25. The 69 Chevy has a cracked A-pillar and missing the rear pan below the bumper. Growing up, my dad had a 73 Impala, albeit a four door, as a company car. I think that was the car that hooked me on the full sized sedan

Hobby Shops Closing ?
HomerS replied to Jon Haigwood's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Being in commercial real estate, I seriously question why anyone would open a brick and mortar store as too many people want a cut of the dollar you earn: My last mom used to own a beauty shop. The local bank said on a business account, it would charge her account $0.08 per check deposited because it was a commercial account. She could be deposit them in her personal account for free. The bank offered nothing in return for calling the account a commercial account. Same was true for the phone company wanting more for a commercial line. My employer has hundreds of nationwide and I see it more here: 1) Some cities have an annual alarm permit fee (usually a couple hundred bucks). If its not current, the police wont respond to a burglar alarm. (This actually happened at one of our stores!) 2) Florida and Arizona charge sales tax not only on rent, but on the common area maintenance! Even thought the cost of the owner taking care of the parking lot, trash, landscaping is a reimbursement, they slap a tax on it. One AZ site has a sales tax down to a thousandths of a percent (0.00x%). 3) Post Covid, states raised property taxes...and not based on value. Ohio went up 20% across the board statewide. A city near Area 51 landlord apologized profusely as the property tax on the complex my company has a store jumped 50% due to the lost tourism money. 4) License to do business in their city. I know of at least one we pay $5k to operate in that town. -
After baseball, Dave Parker retired back in the Cincinnati area. My parents were in the parking lot of a local IGA grocery store and my dad spotted a spotless 50's era Mercedes. Dad's testosterone took over and he lost focus on the mission and went over to speak to the driver of the car. The tall gentleman was very accommodating to my Dad showing him the car as my mom patiently waited in the parking lot. As he finally refocused, he walked back to join my Mom to get back to why they were there, my Mom turned to him and said "you know that was Dave Parker?" Dad was NOT a fan of any sports so they first question out of his mouth was "who is that?" Dave gave more than he took from his hometown. He brought the Popeye's chicken restaurants to Cincinnati which employee hundreds. Met him at several events and always a very pleasant person.

Little over two years ago, I adopted Riley (formerly Shasta) from a local animal shelter. Clearly she was abused mentally and physically and struggles to overcome her past. She is reluctant to go out the door on a leash as she still thinks she i headed back to the shelter. She gets so worked up, she's hurled in my car going to the groomer. I told the wife lets try something new......she drive my car (God help me!) and I will ride in the back with her like my son and I did when we first adopted her. First half of the trip there, she just stared out the window not knowing her fate. Suddenly she turned around and put her head into my chest.....followed by one paw and then the other. You could fell the fear going through her. All my dogs LOVE my groomer and when she walked in, and marked the walk off mat at the front counter, she saw Jane and started to relax. Couple hours later, I picked her up and she rode home shotgun, but stared out the window with a "we're still not talking" attitude. She got over her attitude when it came dinner time. One of her predecessors Jamie (also an Aussie) would be have an "I'm beautiful and I know it" attitude every time she came home. I miss my little deva!

There are probably suckers out there or else they wouldn't do it but I had a pest control salesman in the neighborhood treating a home nearby and offering a great deal. Any problem with ants, spider, etc due to the rains....nope! What about mice in the garage....oh well let me tell you about the crazy cat lady who feed all the neighborhood strays at the house behind my next door neighbor. I really do have a crazy cat lady behind us but they stay out of my yard as we have three dogs. What about garden snakes....notta one as we have hawk nests in the oak tree out front...come here and I can show you what they look like. There is one of the three squirrel nests but one was 'repurposed' by hawks but you can't see them when the tree is in full bloom. I went full 'turning into your parents' on this guy just like the TV commercial. He kept trying to walk away but I kept reingaging. Doubt he will be back. One of the benefits of getting old......

Didn't know they made a 1/18 Renault Feugo. Aftermarket wheels on it but not horrible. I had about a half dozen cars from the 30's that I bought cheap at an auction years ago which someone pimped the wheels so I'm searching for parts cars to get back to something more era correct.

My wife and teenager saw them a couple years ago in Savannah. This weekend was my first game. We had tickets for Friday and Saturday but the forecast was for rain on Saturday (possible postponement or cancelling) so we went Friday.....and of course it rained. Folks complain that it's not real baseball.....neither are the Harlen Globetrotters. All of the players have college baseball experience so they are truly athletes. Lots of meet-n-greets. Music plays the entire game. They pulled out of the former league they were in a few years and travel with their own opposition. They added two other opponents with two more next year. They always bring in local talent to suit up so in this case it was former Cincinnati Reds Sean Casey, Todd Frazier, Bronson Arroyo and Danny Graves.

Due to my A1C, the Dr put me on Metformin. My wife is nurse and warned me the major side effect is diarrhea. Not just diarrhea.....let me just say the scene from Dumb & Dumberer with Jeff Bridge's in the bathroom is no longer funny! Do not trust your sphincter to determine if that flatulence is a liquid, solid or gas!!!

Recent auction wins....all at current MSRP price. All three sealed inside. Missed out on the Pro Stock Camaros when they were first released. Round2 has been taunting us with the 78-81 Camaro for a while now so I jumped on it in case it doesn't come to fruition

I usually skip the cars & coffee if its rainy as higher end car don't usually come out as it moves the first floor of the parking deck which is would cut the number of attendees by about 75%. The local Concours D'Elegance is today and on the Saturday before they have a tour of the country side. Weather permitting, there is always great stuff. in the past, Lane Automotive Museum has brought a Messerschmidt, a Tatra, etc. There has been a DeTomaso Mangusta, and other rare cars. I passed yesterday as showers in the area I didn't expect much. This is what I missed yesterday!!!

I got two EZ Pass toll warnings from two different e-mails ten minutes apart.

My youngest graduates on Wednesday and his last day was this past Thursday. The school send a Senior Survey....not sure if it was for the students or the parents as well but the wife and I received it in our e-mail so its for game. Don't wanna know, don't ask!! Survey asked about the view on security. Low score for letting the kid who made the Facebook threat of shooting up the school come back after spending time in juvie! And a second offense of a threat directly towards a teacher. His first offense should have been expulsion/prohibited from school grounds. Final question was what I change.....I said the entire office staff!! Mispelled his name on an award Junior year, marking him absent when the golf team had matches, a clerical error that took over a month to clear and I had to go to the Superintendent to fix, absentee calls when we tell them (live person) the day before his college visit. His last day was Thursday....I got an absentee call yesterday and Progress alert this morning for something he didn't turn in yesterday.
