  1. I went for an interview, checked in with the security desk, met with the director's admin....and then waited....the person I was to meet with never materialized so after 20 minutes I left. I understand things come up but either have the decency to reschedule or at least come let me know what's going on.
  2. Vipers Snakeskin green on the Challanger
  3. 1/24 die cast Presidential Limo......$4.99 at the thrift store. Missing hood ornament and fender flags.
  4. 1/43....1/32...? Don't know but couldn't pass up the Thunderbird. All complete except Firebird which is missing glass and rear bumper
  5. Back parking lot actually....the original monster truck Bigfoot
  6. Rains rolled in before I could make the Cars & Coffee in Dayton.... 2019 Camaro SS
  7. What about the first time you saw what was in a Palmer kit? (sorry......had to go there)
  8. I stopped at the local RC Shop yesterday after the Cincinnati Auto Replicas show and the young man was extremely helpful but didn't have the size I needed. Went to Lowe's this morning (best bet to get a retiree who actually makes the effort to help you!) and we found ones that worked......#4 x 3/4.
  9. It's bad enough when radio stations speed up the music to jam in more commercials, but when country singer Eric Church sounds like one of the Chipmunks, they need to back it down a bit
  10. Coming home from work Tuesday night, I can see a HUGE puddle covering half of the road coming up ahead. It's bubbling up through the pavement at the entrance to a private business and it's coming pretty good. There is no one coming the other way so the choices are slow down and use the suicide lane to go around it or drive through it......or a third option of stab and steer. Yeah, number 3 kinda won out. 245 series tires really displace a significant amount of water! I watch in the mirror after I did it and two cars behind me used the suicide lane to go around it but the semi behind them had the same idea I did and, well it was an awesome display.
  11. The Vietnam War Traveling Wall came through the Cincinnati area last year. Second time I've seen it and I got to take my youngest (10yr old) to see it as he is getting of the age that he can understand its significance. Inside the union hall, a vet had a collection of artifacts that he has amassed through the years of various wars. He does this so people can feel what it was like for these heroes to wear this and carry the gun/ammo versus locking it up in a museum. This is Garrett as that young soldier. He had a much greater appreciation for DOING this versus just reading about it. (It was July 4th weekend so he understood how the heat took its toll as well). My oldest (20yr old) and his girlfriend spent the night the first night as security for the memorial wall. My father (a 7.5 year veteran of the Air Force/deployed to Berlin during the construction of the Berlin Wall) had just passed six weeks earlier. He did this as a tribute. Just when you can't be more proud of your kids, he goes and does this and I never knew about it until days later. Thank you Vietnam Vets and all the vets for putting their butts on the line for all of us!!
  12. I've only taken a couple of the cars out of boxes and put them in a case, but I tossed the screws. Recently I bought two Ertl AMX's still in the box but they were not mounted. I have some screws from cannibalized diecasts that fit diameter wise but certainly not long enough. Anyone have some they can measure or give me a rough guestimate of the length?
  13. So the merchandise is now down to MSRP or the price you can buy everywhere else.....
  14. Now THIS is how to spend a snowy Saturday! (renamed Brian Griffin by my 11 year old son, he is one of my four rescues) His eyes are barely open as he thinks if he doesn't look at me, I won't ask him to share the couch!
  15. Nope, you are not a spoiler....I appreciate the information! I relied on the staff of Firestone who apparently only knew what corporate told them. Mine are 245/45R 18's...'gatorback' tread pattern. When the 'yet another snow event' passes, I will have to check the specific model.
  16. Primewell are made by the oil company Getty. They were sold/installed by the local Firestone. I bought the car with Kumho's at 35,000 miles....they were okay but not the best in wet traction. I've had Goodyear Eagle's on a Stealth and their all season tires were some of the worst I ever had. These have been better in the snow than the Kumho's. The seal failed on the inside of the rim (facing the chassis) this time. Last time it was a back wheel and on the outside of the rim. They said they inspected the other tires back in November.
  17. For the second time in four months, I had a Primewell brand tire lose the seal between the tire and the rim. When I called Safeco roadside assistance, the operator could not have been any nicer although i think i blew his concentration when I told him the car has seat warmers and I'm in a safe place so I'm good to wait my turn. The tech that came out was the same guy I had in November! He probably jumped on the dispatched call as I tipped him $20 both times for what he did in the cold/snow.
  18. There's plenty of blame to go around on this......
  19. The hockey team moved to the other arena downtown to a marginally better arena. It was built in the mid 70's and had some very minor renovations in the late 90's. There is a proposed plan to demo it and replace it with a state of the art facility but the taxpayers are having a cow over more $$ going to another sports venue. The city is missing out on concerts, conventions and other events with a sub-par arena but being on the hook for two stadiums for a poor baseball team and ever worse football team. The entity that bought it overpriced the seats thinking people would pay big bucks like the demo of Riverfront stadium got. They only sold about 1,100 seats out of the 10,326 so the rest are being victims of the demo. Wanna buy a scoreboard?
  20. Which area HL has the new kits?  The one in Hamilton didn't have any of those last week but has gotten in the Revell Olds 442/FE3-X

I'll be sure to check it out. I love it out here - there's so much more to do and so many more places to go than there ever were in Connecticut.

If you are into Hot Wheels, the Cincinnati Hot Wheels club is having a show on Saturday.....

The 2018 GCHWC Diecast Show & Swap (March 24, 2018) will be held at the American Legion Hall #530 located at 11100 Winton Road, Cincinnati OH  45218

This is the first show they've had in a long time so I don't know what to expect.  $3 admission.

I'll be at the Horrorhound Convention at the Sharonville Center on Saturday. I have too many interests, Homer!

  21. 1) Hobby store or model show 2) On Line (had a couple things damaged as I the carrier plays pop-a-shot putting it on the front porch) 3) Chain store (as I hate the upselling of rewards card, their credit card, push other products, sign up for the frequent seller e-mails, etc)
  22. VW - minimal assembly.....body primed Cadillac - mostly built but unpainted...extra hood and chrome front end Didn't "need" two more projects but for less than the cost of a Hobby Lobby kit I couldn't let it pass
  23. Constructed in 1949 as a smaller version of the Gardens in Toronto, the Cincinnati Gardens is finally meeting it's demise. Homes to various concerts, car shows and other events, it was once home to various minor league hockey teams and the Cincinnati Royals (now Sacramento Kings). I got to know it with yet another effort to bring hockey to town in 1990 with a two year AA league known as the ECHL (Still in the league today but at the downtown arena). Lots of great memories (taking my now 20 year old son to get player autographs after a hockey game, taking mom to a game as she wanted to go but dad had no interest, one of my last father/son moments actually talking dad INTO seeing a game). No taxpayer $$ to build it.....no overpriced private boxes.....no $10-20 parking a country mile away.....sat 10,326 for hockey, not a bad seat in the house
  24. I've had to do it three times.....it doesn't get any easier! My greyhound was the most heart wrenching as his life was cut short because of the care they DON'T get at the racetracks when they are young. You can take comfort knowing they knew they were loved and had a great home for most of their lives. Far too many other animals don't get that kinda home.
  25. My wife and I have the Dysfunctional Family Olympics. I've been married 20 years and it seems that when one of our families does something stupid, the other ones family somehow manages to out-stupid it!
