Haven't checked it in a while so I reset the mpg calculator for the trip from Indy to the SCIMA show as I came down I-65. 2009 G8 with the 3.6L (91,000 miles on it)....31 mpg for the hour drive. Not bad for a 4,000lbs car

Stop the world.....I want off! P&G, the maker of Pampers, started quietly replacing the Sesame Street characters this summer. P&G customer service representatives have reportedly said the changes came after parents complained of too many male characters on the diapers.

1997 World Series....I think it was a Cleveland Indians relief pitchers was coming into the game. They zoom in on the guy as the flash his regular season stats down the right column. Suddenly he puts a finger to side of the nose to close off a nostril and proceeds with said ''farmer blow". That close and bright lights of the stadium light, you could see a rainbow!

A department in our office had a gender reveal party for a lady who was having her second child. A young man in my department is originally from Ghana and looked at me, shaking his head, 'you Americans celebrate the stupidest of s***'. Yeah I gotta go with him on that one!

I've been searching for the lone color I didn't have in the case. Even the on-line search was not proving fruitful but I stumbled onto a dealer last weekend who actually had two of them. Paid a little more than the others but it filled the last slot.

When George Strait sang 'Amarillo By Morning', he was not shipping an envelope from Cincinnati via UPS Ground! I know they have their high-tech systems, but it just doesn't seem that efficient when it stopped four times and still had not made Amarillo. (I apologize if I got that song stuck in your head now). 2019 GMC Sierra ( UGLY Truck)
HomerS replied to ranma's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I'm still in shock from the 'grin' of the 2019 Camaro.... -
When I was looking for a used Pontiac G8, a local GMC/Buick dealer had one. As with the usual "I have to take this to my manager" I was encouraged to walk around the showroom and see the latest GM had to offer. I don't want an SUV....I don't want a Crossover....I want a car. Especially as they shorten the wheelbase the driver side wheel well cuts into the dead pedal space. I'm 6'0" so I prefer to straighten my legs out, not sit upright like I do at my desk all day.

Is that the SCIMA show? If so I think I have the flyer -
Some shelters care more than others. One of the dogs we have, we went in and filled out the paperwork. We were approved and had to get her later in the week from their vet after she had been fixed. Another one, we had to bring out the other three dogs to see how the potential fourth dog got along with the current threesome on semi-neutral ground. That helps cut down on the chances of an animal being returned. However, they didn't take just a few minutes to cut the badly overgrown fur off his butt so he could 'drop some friends' and not have skidmarks in his far. My Aussie came from a shelter that used the foster system as they didn't have a location equipped to handle dogs. If I travel out of town for a model show, I raid thrift stores and rummage sales for crates, cages, towels and other things that rescues and shelters can use but don't always have the $$ for. If I can drop $10 for lunch or $20 on a kit, I can give back to the folks that take care of our furry friends. Final tally from the event......Thank you adopters. Because of you, 455 animals found heir furever homes this weekend. Not bad for a first time event (the winter event is six years old....this was the first try in the summer).

Six years ago, the area had an animal adoption event know as My Furry Valentine where shelters/rescues (some over an hour away) brought their animals to a suburban convention center for a common cause...finding homes. Although it's usually on Valentines weekend, they are seeing what happens if they go twice a year...... From thier Facebook page..... We are so happy for all the dogs and cats that went home in the arms of their new families on Day One of our My Furry Valentine Summer Event, including more than 300 adoptions, and our 5000th adoption since 2012!

Auction find.....about 30 1/64 mixed lot and the General....total less than $10. Nothing missing. There's several accuracy issues with this one but the one that causes the heartburn is the black interior. I may leave it as is as it's in perfect condition.

I learned the benefits of Rain-X when I had my Stealth and in monsoon rains the wipes even on high couldn't keep up with the size of the windshield.

I know I've morphed into my parents, but autograph prices.....WOW
HomerS replied to HomerS's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
I didn't think about that as most athletes charge even more for an inscription. -
The schedule below is for the Comic Expo coming to town next month. Not my kinda thing but I stumbled onto the Facebook page and was curious about who was coming which lead to checking the autograph schedule/prices.....WOW....In order from L to R is the price for an autograph, a picture and then a selfie. I think the most I paid for an autograph was John Gruden (he came to Dick's Sporting Goods for a MNF awards program for a local school) but the money went to his foundation. No charge for the a pic and got to meet him (I was working there part time and being a Bucs fan begged to work that night). Other than him, my max was $3 for a former college basketball player who was a huge fan fav. He was a stray. He has two chips but neither had current owner info. His fur was so overgrown that his first trip was to the groomer/vet and they cut over 4 pounds of fur off him! His fur was so bad that he couldn't even even have a bowel movement without it sticking to his butt (the shelter could have at least trimmed THAT) Too many humans failed him!

From the Facebook event page of a local event My Furry Valentine.... Today we celebrate mixed-breed dogs, or mutts. This special day was created to be celebrated on two dates per year, July 31st and December 2nd to raise awareness of the plight of mixed breed dogs in shelters around the nation, as approximately 80% of dogs in shelters are mixed breeds. Most pure breeds that end up in the shelter are generally rescued quickly by either the public wanting a “less expensive” purebred dog or by a pure breed rescue. The day’s mission is to educate the public about the sea of mixed breed dogs that desperately await new homes and to celebrate the amazing characteristics that the mix of breeds creates in each individual dog. Here's three of my foursome (all four are rescues) Turner...Jack Russell/Sheltie Bear....Pekingese/Border Collie Brian....Husky/Aussie Not shown only because she turns every time I try to get her pic....Jamie, purebred Aussie
