I think it looks nice for a quick build. At least that is better than some of those motorized kits I've seen. I have a 1979 Trans Am from Fujimi that has a steering wheel that goes have way though the floor boards! The battery tray is under the interior, so the "floor" is actually half way up the doors!

That look very nice! By the way, if you would ever want to make it completely stock, AMT made a Cadillac Escalade EXT, the one that looks like an Avalanche, that did have stock wheels, if I remember correctly.

I second that! I drive a 1990 Ford F350 dually 4X4 with a diesel with 181,000+ miles on it that uses almost as much oil as is it does diesel! Even when I had fuel pouring out of an injector on the exhaust, which got fixed VERY quickly, it never went up in flames! Of course, Eric, I think I might know what you are talking about, though, just the years are a little off. When I was working for a local towing company around 2001, they bought a brand new F550 wrecker. Another company we were friendly with also had bought a similar wrecker, and one night it went up in flames parked in front of the owner's house. Those diesels were recalled because, somewhere in Ford's genius thinking, the alternators were mounted at the very highest point they could be on the engine. Well, with the hoods closed, the alternator TOUCHED the underhood insulation, and the heat was causing the insulation to catch fire. That's really the only problems I've ever heard of Ford pickups going up in smoke.

Oh, by the way, even though we can't get a delivery comformation tracking number on trades going to our neighbors to the north, I found out today at my post office, they can track it through the customs form. There is a number on the form, and on the small green form, PS Form 2976, the post office you sent the package from holds the custom form for 30 days. For anything over 1 pound, I also found out they have a new, much larger form, Form 2976-A, that you will also have a copy of. The lady at my post office said that this tracking is ONLY available to them, you can't look online like the normal tracking number. I'm not sure how detailed the tracking is through the custom form numbers, but if you get really worried, go to the post office you sent from before the 30 days are up and see if they can give you any information.

I wouldn't worry yet, Lee. I have a regular trade partner from that other forum that lives in Edmondton, and it usually takes a week to week and a half from WV to there. There was even one we did that took almost two weeks for him to get his end, and almost three weeks for his to find its way to my house.

Drew, also, here is how I store my tools that I regularly use on my desk, and sorry for my latest project sitting in the way, I'm just too lazy to take a new pic right now! You can see everything, though, so just act like the truck wasn;t even there! The blue cup is a freebie I got from a neighboring club's contest, and is just an ordinary plastic drinking cup, and I use that for my sanding sticks and files. Next to that is another freebie, my better half's cousin works in a doctor's office, and it is a desk clock organizer that was from drug rep visiting the doctor's office, and I have my hobby knife, sprue cutters, and scissors in it, the there is another one to the right of it filled with pens and Sharpie markers. Finally, the clear tube next to the organizer with the pens is my paint brushes, and guess what, THEY WERE A FREEBIE, TOO!! I won those in a show's kit raffle, and came complete with about 12 or 15 artist's brushes, the blue roll up fabric case, and the clear two piece tube they are in. I've seen similar sets at Michael's for maybe 20 bucks. In front of those, you can't really see these because of the truck, but I have all my paint thinners and glues lined up in front of the storage organizers. You can get a little idea what I mean by looking above the rear tires of the truck, you can see my Model Master glue and Tamiya thinner jars in front of the blue cup. The background of this pic will give you a better idea of the thinner and glue jars. Behind the paint brushes, you can also see my visor hanging from its nail in the wall. This is my little slice of heaven, and I also use the drawers and shelves of the hutch for storage of my lesser used tools, and also found it makes handy storage for my clamps, too. If you look closely at the far right side of the hutch, you can see my multi colored small clamps going from top to bottom.

Drew, here is what I use to store my paints in, and it's on wheels so it's also easily transported if need be. It is a Stanley Mobile Work Center, and has a tray in the top and enough storage under the tray for Testors size spray cans, and larger cans in the bottom half. Under the tray: The bottom half: I got this at Walmart many years ago, mainly since I go to a friend's house quite often for "Model Night" and also when I was still in my former model club for our build nights. The club is no more, but it still rides to the friend's house almost every week, being on wheels makes it very easy! Walmart still carries a version of this, but it does not have the lift off top, but has a door on the front instead, and looks like this: By the way, if you look close at my second pic, you can see the foldable handle in the closed position that unfolds for transport. The newer style also has this same style handle.

I fell out of my chair laughing!!!

Did either of you use primer under the paint? Also, Mike, I have never had any luck using Krylon paints, the few times I have used them, they either gave me problems like you described or the last time, it would fingerprint even after three weeks! I faithfully use DupliColor automotive paints with no problems at all.

That's looking good, Gregg! I think the metallic black might be a better choice, since the red is metallic. Either way you go, though, it will look nice.

looking for a resin part.
highway replied to Ken#5fan's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
I don't know, Jose, I thought Ken was looking for one like these. The one in a real 2006 GT-H: Let us know which one is the right one, Ken. If it is the one Jose put the link up for, I could help you out with one from the GT-H kit, because it has the one with the round filter, but the square air box is also in the kit. -
X2!! I want to be like you when I grow up!!

You did not offend me, and sorry if I offended you, that was definitely not my intention! I'm sorry, I was merely stating facts, and I'm truly sorry you took them the wrong way.

My latest in progress
highway replied to loghauler70's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Thanks for the info and the numbers, Mark. Thank you, too, Daniel, for showing the technique. That should make my next long frame truck much easier. -
The Moebius Lonestar
highway replied to Art Anderson's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
The info is that it will have an engine, I forget what type, but I think it is supposed to be a Navistar. -

SWEET!!! I see it didn't take very long for them to get Dale Jr's Nationwide car in there! I love that car, it brings back so many memories! I like the Rusty Wallace car where he "leaned on" DW to win the race, too. I was a diehard Rusty fan until that day, not to say I stopped liking him, but that was when I seen the light and became a diehard Dale Earnhardt fan, too! -
I finally found my entry kit. Hopefully I'll have some in progress pics soon.

Where do you think Harry would find the pictures at? I'm sure he doesn't have a picture of every car ever made! By the way, Harry, I'm not trying to hijack your thread, just prove a point, even when you google (I prefer Bing myself) images, that does not mean they're pics of real cars! If I Bing images of Ford LTL 9000 , I find pictures of my current project, but it shows in the image search anyway!!! By the way, chopt, I don't remember seeing a real name anywhere in your post.
-
I don't see what you have to make clear to me? I didn't even need to do a search to find that it's real!! All I had to do was look at the picture closely!! If you reread my post, I said I had a REAL 1979 Pontiac Firebird, which anyone knows is basically the same car as a Camaro!! They both share many features, including the poor fit issues!!!
-
That looks sweet! I have the same kit, but doing it as the stock car in silver. I think I may have to rethink that, though, I love the black!
-
I guess it's a 1978 Chevrolet Camaro Z-28, oh wait, wrong game!! You've been fooling me with your little pro built 1/8 scale diecasts the past few times, Harry, but not this week!! The poor fit of the front and rear bumpers and the door alignment issues I seen when I zoomed in on it are all just like they were on my REAL 1979 Firebird!!!

Build off ideas
highway replied to remingtonbox's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Would they have to be fresh unstarted builds or could they already be in progress? I have a couple in progress builds that would definitely be good for the Bonneville build! -
The funny thing about my local Michaels, the new kits are usually around $19.99, and the clearance models are usually $19.95!

Looking very nice!
