  1. '98 Acura NSX Mugen Tamiya kit built box-stock. Painted with spray can VHT high-temp flat alum....then cleared. Kit went together very well. Fun build. Thanks.
  2. Getting closer guys...finally moved the team into the new garage, need to get them boys some tools to finish this ride! Made some pretty good progress over last couple days. Made some interior chassis tins, some interior detail...no pix yet, will work on that. Chassis is painted semi-flat black. I'm using a parts-box rear end, think its from the Pro-Stock Olds. I scratchbuilt the wheelie bars from 1/16" dia aluminum and styrene, mounting points are .032 dia, brass pinned. Rear end is painted. Tires, frt and rear, are close to finished. Thanks for looking!
  3. Super, super sweet....great job so far! Keep it up.
  4. Hi all.....another freezing day here in the mid-atlantic, kinda sucks because I would love to paint something, got that itch and you all know what I mean! I just wanted to say I thank you all for commenting and following this fun little build, I'm loving it! Couple questions you guys wanted me to answer.....here you go. Thanks for posting your Camaro "James2", that looks awesome! 1 - I started with the Monogram STP Firebird chassis and I'm using the AMT 70.5 Z28 body. 2 - The tires are from that STP kit and they are the two pc deal. I kinda took a "shot in the dark" with this process hoping I would not cut through where they mate together, and it worked out ok. I used super glue for mating the two pcs. I really don't have any shots of the process for cutting, I'l try to explain....once I have the tape wrapped around the tire, I make 3 angled cuts from the contact patch to the opening for the rim, this helps with keeping the curve of the sidewall. If you can imagine peeling an apple....very similar, and I shoot for the removed material to be consistent and come off the tire in one pc. I then use a sturdy, rough sanding stick and a 150 grit 3M sanding block to smooth it all over. I think they came out well, not perfect, but a lot closer than anything I could find. I think the tire diameter may be a little big, but thats fine with me. I hope that helps....couple updates for the week. I've curved the rear bumper fascia for wheelie bar clearance. I do have the rear end mounted, the wheelie bars need some rework although they look kinda cool in the "transport" position. I finally settled on the rear rims, they are mounted and will be painted soon. As I planned, this will not have a motor, but will have interior work and suspension. The front wheels are mounted and my ride height is finished. Next, scoop for the hood and locking the chassis to the body....only thing doing that right now is tape for placement. I'm really enjoying this. Thanks for looking!
  5. HI Chris...every time I see an update, it is outstanding....man, you are meticulous, but the great part is you have a vision, execute and succeed in a real big way! You look to be getting very close to the finishing stages....how bout a mockup shot of the whole thing? That would be great motivation for me as my next build after my Z28 Outlaw is a "Newstalgia" funny car tricked out somewhat. Not sure on the body make yet though, body work should be fun for that!
  6. Been able to get a little more stuff done on this one. I've trimmed up the headlight area, scribed the new door lines and worked on my rear tires. I also got a new coat of primer on the body, which is very close....need to work on the grill area and a little window treatment. I may wait till next week on that, moving on to some chassis stuff and hopefully painting that sometime soon. I trimmed the headlights with an brand new exacto on an angle, then smoothed with 320 lightly. Be careful when trying this and go slow, amazing how sharp those new blades are! I then smoothed the back of headlight lenses and constantly checked the fit....when the lenses seated properly, I applied Plastruct Weldene to keep them in place. I will smooth them over a bit, use decals for headlights and trim in chrome to resemble the bezel. Tires - Started with stock Monogram slicks. After some research into the true width of a 10.5, really depends on width of rim used, tire pressure and tire diameter. From what I've read, this could be anywhere between 10.5" to 11.5". I based mine on a scale 11" wide (.44"). I trimmed a pc of tape .44" wide and wrapped around tire, then trimmed with exacto blade and sanded with a 150 grit sanding block to blend the sidewall curve. Thanks for looking and commenting, greatly appreciated!
  7. Great pix Chris... Good luck on the build Tom, looking great already! One of my fav Vette bodies.
  8. Ty, the engine you have mounted looks great. I hear ya....parked myself on the couch for playoffs the past several weekends!
  9. Well Dan H, there you go.......you done yet? Just kidding, please post if you build, would love to see your progress! Terry, beautiful pix!!! Thanks for sharing with us...
  10. Hi all...this is turning into a fun little build. I've made a rear wing, rescribed trunk opening, rescribed front/rear window molding and made some little wedged side skirts. I've filled the molded door scribes, will redo those a little bit....did not like the placement. I plan on making a hood scoop and doing some more chassis work this week. Thanks for looking!
  11. I don't think I've ever seen one of these....good luck, not a bad looking car.
  12. John....That is pure craftsmanship there and a crazy subject to show them mad skills you have. I love all your builds!
  13. This is just cool...looks great, from paint, to stance, to weathering, all of it. Great work!!!
  14. Started this ride couple years back in between doing Pro Mod bodies....picked it back up last week and working on it while checking into producing copies of the Challenger and Vette PM's bodies. Anyways, I started a chassis...has a nascar front section mated to a pro stock mid and rear. Also been doing the bodywork, filling and smoothing front for that smooth one-pc look. I could not find my rear bumper, so scratching that up to try making it look cool. This will not be fully detailed nor conform to any rules, may not even have a motor.....will add some detail to the interior and go from there. I just want a quick build that looks descent, ready to spray some real paint instead of primer. Please forgive me....one of these days I'll have a complete ride to show. I hope you like.
  15. Love this build...
  16. I gotta agree...AWB cars are cool. Been wanting to build one for 3 years now, a little Ford Falcon or similar. Looks like a great start Roger!
  17. Looks awesome Brett
  18. Outstanding attn to the details Scott...looks great
  19. Yes sir Roger....looks great so far!!!
  20. Finally....resurrected from the dust, been a while since I touched this one....I'm hoping to try finishing this body at the same time as my Challenger body. I'm really at the same point now on both. This one has had a recent, fresh coat of primer to re-evaluate and start the finishing stages. Thanks for looking in.
  21. Thanks for the comment guys...have not had much time to work on this week, couple small things though. I think I'm getting closer to finishing this PM body. I've done some filling around/smoothing the headlights and the tailight section. Also, I've re-shaped the lead-in to the bottom of front window, not sure if that noticeable in pix but in now flares up with a curve. I also decided to redo the air opening between the fog light recesses, changed that to protrude out instead of extrude in and squared the ends instead of tapered. Next - still need to finish the window treatments and evaluate....fill, sand, primer, repeat! Door lines will probably be close to last.
  22. Hello all....few updates for this week. I've worked on the flares for bottom of sides and fender wells, they also wrap around the back to the wheelie bar cutout....got a slick coat of primer on too. Much, much slicker now. I've got some more window treatment to go before that is wrapped up. After that, I'll have some filling work in the headlight and tailight areas and this will be pretty close to final finishing....I hope! Thanks for looking in and commenting. Everyone keep up the great work.
  23. Enjoying this one....keep it up.
  24. Shayne...wow, that is slick. I do like that plain testing look. Certainly makes me want to build one. Great job!
  25. Thanks for looking in guys, means a lot to me. I really love doing this bodywork stuff and glad you like it! Wayne, thanks man, means a lot coming from a master like you! Wish I had some updates to post, will be working on finishing the front and side window treatments this week....hopefully I can finish the flares for bottom of sides that will wrap around the rear wheel opening and the bottom fascia. Tyrone, I started this chassis for another build, all styrene glued with Plastruct Weldene...I think it just might work for this one. I'll keep you posted.
