Gonna have to get this one to go with my Convertible and my Woodie! Gregg, I say use the skirts, dress up the flattie with the included performance parts. As for the caps, I can't narrow it down to the style I like best... As for color? I think these old Fords look sweet dressed in Cherry Red...

I like the looks of the last pic you posted. That balances out the front fender nicely. This'll be a neat one to watch. Man, this thread brings back some memories. I built the Ghost Rider when I was about thirteen... I remember working my butt off to get those fender extensions to line up properly... That was back before I'd ever heard of putty...

Stretch Deora Hauler
Wagoneer81 replied to Nitrozilla's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
This is one of the craziest builds I've seen in a looong time! Special thanks to Joe and Luis for a much needed laugh, the BBQ grill incident was hilarious! I look forward to seeing this one done. Hmmm... You give me ideas... -
I love it! I've always been a fan of 'backyard racers', rough and tumble, diamonds-in-the-rough, that have got it where they need it (usually, under the hood...)! I love the junk in the bed and the interior detail with the ripped headliner... One question, if you don't mind; how did you simulate the cracked dashpad? It looks real.

snap pete project
Wagoneer81 replied to bandit1's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
If it were mine, I'd go with a multi-hue gray interior with charcoal gray or black floormat or flocking to simulate carpet... Gray goes with anything... Or am I just unimaginative?...lol! Maybe a bit of blue trim or blue seat centers to tie it in with the rest of the truck... -
This is a 1/72 scale, WWII, German BMW with sidecar. I picked up a second-hand 1/72 Fujimi Panzer II kit from my LHS and found the parts trees for this and a 1/72 Schwimmwagen in the box, as well as the Panzer II... I still need to weather this one, but here it is for now... We have all feared losing parts to the carpet monster... This was the first time I EVER worried about losing the entire model if I dropped it... I figured I'd better get it on some kind of base before somebody sneezed and blew it across the room... Believe it or not, this kit had around 22 parts in its assembly... Yes, that's a quarter it's setting on. Ok, new edit----> I see I was wrong here... It's sitting on a US half-dollar... my mistake... It's still inkie dinky...

Hello Everybody! It's been a while since I've been able to post. I've actually missed you guys! To give those who might have wondered where I dissappeared to, a short update, I moved again back at the end of July, Mom and Dad moved me home again. I'm physically unable to work, sometimes I'm unable to walk... and, at 38, I can't make it on my own... Less than three weeks after I came home, we lost Mom suddenly and unexpectedly to an apparent heart attack...She was 72. So now it's just me, Dad and two ornery Dachsunds and, after three weeks, life is just starting to look somewhat worthwhile again. I moved into much smaller digs, so I had to start 'thinking small'. Thankfully, I already had a pretty good collection of smaller armor and aircraft kits stashed back for a rainy day... Well, it's raining... This is the OLD Monogram F11c-2 Goshawk, box stock. I built it in two evenings and it was refreshing to actually finish a project for a change. These old Monogram kits are nothing to snub ones nose at. They're simply engineered and go together nicely. the decal sheet was as old as I am and was in perfect condition... This is a Beech AT-11 in 1/72. I can't tell you who made the kit as I got it without box or instructions. It's a bomber-trainer and I had to add detail to the nose section and scratchbuild a Norden bombsite. I had a lot of fun with this one... The finish is Model Master non-buffing Aluminum metalizer. The decals came from the spares drawer. The Dio base is a work-in-progress that I'll use for display when finished. This last one is an ICM kit. This is the Soviet I-400. This was Russia's first all-metal mono-wing fighter, produced in the late 1920's. Ya gotta love the corrogated wing surfaces. Can you say, "Brick-like aerodynamic chracteristics."? This was a pretty straight-forward kit that I finished in one night.

Aaron, this is thread is an awesome find for me! I have an original Monogram P-6E in my build pile... Yours turned out great! That's a fine looking P-26 as well. I love prewar Hi-Vis paint schemes! Yellow wings rule!!! I recently finished the Monogram 1/72 Goshawk and agree with you on the older Mono kits. I built my 'Hawk over the course of two evenings, it was refreshing to actually finish a model! How'd the P-6 go together for you?

Ajulia, I had a run in with this kit in my youth, many, many years ago. I will say this; Anyone who can do this basic kit justice has my respect. You, my friend did this kit justice! It looks great! I'm anxious to see the three sisters together again! My prewar 'Sweetheart' is Lady Sara, but I have the utmost respect and admiration for the Yorktown Sisters... and the men who loved them!

How angry do you get?
Wagoneer81 replied to SuperStockAndy's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Man, there have been some hilarious responses in this thread, and I have been guilty of several counts of 'Modelcide' in my day, but no more (The kits are just getting to expensive to wig out on...). Now, when I start getting frustrated with a project, I step back, maybe put it away and work on something else. Maybe that's why I have dozens of started projects sitting around now... -
2011 Revell-Monogram fall releases
Wagoneer81 replied to Luc Janssens's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
a 1/24 Huey Gunship..... Hmmm.... I smell another dropdeck load AND heavy commercial project here. Maybe a special carrier contracted to an aircraft museum... Also, Since I build basically everything, including aircraft, (I know, I know, call me a heretic and get it over with... ) the 1/32 Junkers Ju-88 will make a VERY nice addition to my 1/32 Revell FW190-8... I guess I'll just have to make that diorama a bit larger... In 1/32, that Ju-88 is going to be one BIG bird, and with that greenhouse of a forward fuselage, the cockpit details WILL pop... It's a great time to be a model builder, period! It doesn't matter what genre you build, everythings comin' up roses! -
some ebay sellers are stupid
Wagoneer81 replied to route66modeler's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
As somebody who occasionally dives into eBay as a buyer and a seller, I say, 'No truer words have ever been spoken!' Paypal makes it so easy to print postage and labels and to ship with USPS Priority Mail, I wouldn't think of doing it any other way. But.... some people think they're smarter doing it 'their way'... -
I was going through some models....
Wagoneer81 replied to ra7c7er's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I can imagine how you feel, reading that was a bit of a fist in the gut for me.... I wouldn't be a bit uncomfortable having those items in my possesion. They made their way to you, a fellow modeler, for a reason. They were part of someones life, maybe all that's left to remember that person by. I'd put the magazines and letters and such somewhere safe, with a note telling others their story and for now, just let things ride 'til the mood strike you to do something else... Maybe someday build a Mopar Drag car with his name over the door as driver. Just something little to commemorate things... Just my $.02, because I'm a sentimental old fool... -
Happy Canada Day !
Wagoneer81 replied to Eshaver's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Yes, Happy Canada Day to our Brothers to the North! I've been to Canada twice, London, Ont. and St.John NB, met some VERY friendly people along the way and wouldn't mind returning in something smaller than a Freightliner Columbia pulling a 53' trailer! <---Which means I'd get to stay a little longer...lol! -
Cars like this look good as 'Pro-Touring' rides, with the proper engine, stance, wheel/tire combo, etc... But, being a '69 Cougar, will look awesome however its built. I'm looking forward to seeing what you decide to do with it. I have this same kit that somebody before me started... and someday I'll undo his damage and finish it...lol!

BEST Wife EVER!!!!
Wagoneer81 replied to Pastor Plastic's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I love threads like this! After being married to a woman who was barely tolerant of my hobbies, (Yes, she's the 'Ex' now...) I can say that wives like these are more precious than diamonds and gold. Hold on to them for dear life and don't let go! I know that's what I would do... The good and wonderful thing is that you guys ACTUALLY REALIZE just how lucky you are. Life says that one must have the good with the bad. Without the bad, earth-shattering relationships that we've ALL been through, one might not really recognize or value the wonderful person standing before you like you do now... I wish all of you the continuing best in your lives and relationships! -
OK, So how dumb am I?
Wagoneer81 replied to Swifster's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
IMC... I stand corrected, George, thank you. I actually knew that but for some reason (I blame the pain meds...) last night, I thought MPC... JimB, I like that tractor, It looks good! Swifster, when I built the green stakebed, I added a .040 styrene strip between the front leafsprings and axle and removed about the same from the rear springs to get it to set properly. On a side note; Tim... The funny thing is that when I built that stakebed, I thought, 'Gee, the guy that built the box art trucks has to be a really talented modeler...' Until today, I didn't know how right I was! Good job! -
Painting Cars 1/32 scale to 1:1scale
Wagoneer81 replied to XJ6's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Personally, if I went into a paintshop and they were using a roller on a vehicle, I'd run the other direction... I have never heard of professionals using a paint roller unless they were applying bedliner... but I have seen the end result in amatuer applications and I agree, it is funny! I did know of a guy, about 20 years ago that painted his '68 Camaro with the same nasty blue paint that he used on his house. He used tha same brush too...
