  1. A HUGE opportunity for reference photos for building models is tomorrow ( July 28th) at the Turning Back Time Car & Bike Show in Sycamore , Illinois as there will be 600+ cars and bikes. Bring plenty of film or memory stick with you.
  2. Modelhaus offers scale woodgrain sheetsls that work like BMF in three different flavors such as walnut, mahogany, and blonde maple. I've seen these sheets and have some on order myself.
  3. Both builds are lookin' good!
  4. I have about 40+ automotive books in my collection and sometimes use them often for reference on a current or future model build. Here are pics of a few of them.
  5. That panel is lookin' good as I just saw a bunch of "gassers" at the strip this past Sunday. I know I have one of those kits in my "stash" somewhere, but who knows when I'll get to it?
  6. Although I keep the instruction sheets, the boxes do go in the recycle bin as I don't have room to store empty boxes.
  7. I believe that you can get a '63 Polara from MCW, I was lucky enough several years ago to get an original unmolested kit but I did pay plenty for it.
  8. I'm a former long time member of The Old Town Escorts and a friend of mine and ran the model contest at the Hillside Holiday Inn Swap Meets for Tom Lima Jr. I believe the Escorts broke up in '86 if I'm not mistaken and I should look it up as I have a lot of paper work from my "Escort" days.
  9. The Monogram Big Deuce kit.
  10. Nice build as it is one of my favorite year 'Vettes and I just picked up one of those kits two weeks ago to add to my "stash."
  11. Back in the 60's and 70's that used to be an awesome shop for model car builders. Not so anymore.
  12. I avoid the humidity by spraying in the air-conditioned house in the morning while my better half is at work. By the time she gets home, the smell is gone.
  13. Yes I know and I haven't been to that show in a few years. Just went to an all Mopar show last month.
  14. The Meltdown Drags were held this weekend at Byron Dragway and they were AWESOME to say the least. The cars on the drag strip were '66 and earlier and the cars in the show were '72 and earlier. This was a great nostalgia event and next year I plan on going on Sat. instead of Sun. as it is the better of the two days. I went today (Sunday) and was NOT disappointed at all. I shot up two rolls of film quickly and wished that I would have brought my new digital camera with me instead. Now I'm "jacked up" and want to start on even more model kits. LOL! You could say that I'm motivated.
  15. Some people like their model cars, die-casts, and also their 1:1 cars signed by celebrities and living legends, but I'm not one of them. To each their own.
  16. What year is the Ford pick up truck in the movie Gran Torino? Thanks!
  17. That came out lookin' real good Scully. I have the Hooters car in my "shash" somewhere.
  18. Model Empire is my FAVE hobby shop for model cars as they have an awesome selection of kits including older issues. They also have a LOT of aftermarket parts as well. Right behind the "Empire" is Greenfield New & Hobby which has 12,000 square feet of space and has something for everybody as well as many tools, supplies, air brushes, parts, etc. The magazine rack leaves nothing to be desired as many publications grace the racks. Both of these places can be found in south eastern Wisconsin.
  19. My better half went to work so I spread out a flat sheet and covered a few other items, laid down newspaper and stunk up the house. With air-conditioning and the help of a ceiling fan, the paint smell goes away in about three hours. I'll do it again tomorrow morning as I've got to clear-coat the painted body.
  20. Welcome Jeff as this is a great place to be.
  21. I saw a couple of Steve's builds at Toledo in 2011 and they were "over the top."
  22. I remember Lee Baker, a great modeler and good guy.
  23. Wow, not only did the Attack of the Plastic Contest & Swap Meet look good, the 1:1 car show along the northwest shore of beautiful Lake Delavan had close to 800 cars registered and most were really nice rides. I can't wait 'til next years show. I also got to cruise around the lake with a good friend of mine and his wife in their boat. A great day.
  24. Attack of the Plastic is THIS Sunday and should be a great time as all the vendor tables have been filled and the 1:1 car show should be 600+ cars. Be there, and bring your camera too.
