  1. maybe 'cause it's a pic of a real one?

    Audi R8

Yes the clear red paints make them look just like real lenses...makes a huge difference.

Also....don't use plain red paint for tailights...use a clear red from Testor's or Tamiya as it looks far better.
  4. very nice!
  5. I don't recall (or care about) those gasser parts...but I'd sure like to have that hardtop back!
  6. I don't think you understand the term "new tooling"....
  7. Dogdish (hubcaps)? You guys know that those are just called hubcaps vs. wheelcovers... right?
  8. It's always a good thing when someone knows how to research a subject.... and I'll bet you didn't even have to leave your house
  9. Yep chrome wheels look much better.... never cared for the beauty rings but no hubcaps look and the red wheels clash with that style of a paint job. You did the right thing....
  10. Well that clears that up,thanks!.. .but no mention of any of the Toyotas?
  11. yes I know they were clear (well not really clear but white/frosted) actually asking about the dot in the middle, locating pin or ? the amber lenses/bulbs began in 63 (in the US)
  12. looks great...but 2 questions, are the parking lights missing or ? there seems to be far too much chrome in the grille areas? (not enough open space)
  13. looks great!
  14. For those of us expecting the "old" Leno's Garage shows, I find this showing disappointing, ok compared to other car shows, but not as informative or interesting as before.. How many people even get CNBC for that matter?
  15. I prefer the old version, focused on the vehicle "of the day". The editing of the new show is surprisingly poor and has too many commericials for me (compared to none on the other venue) but I'll keep watching, I didn't really care for the Tonight Show but I like Jay when cars(etc) are the focus..
  16. Those look great!!! maybe even better than the 29...
  17. Ever feel misunderstood Greg? I think both of your examples are/could be inspirational...I like the black duece in particular.
  18. If only Revell had put as much effort into designing that kit as you did in building it... oh and it's a 210 sedan, not a Bel Air
  19. Those 69s are fairly recent and very nice kits....largely the same as the one you have already. you already know about the old and poorly done Mongram kit (which was a 69 and, fortunately, it was obvious from the box art that it was poorly proportioned).
  20. Sorry to hear that..it still looks far better than Moebius' clumsy attempt at measuring/modeling the grille for this truck. I sure wish they respected their customers enough to fix such a glaring error...
  21. We have a pretty good hobby shop in Redding...it's on East Cypress. All Round Hobby 222-5679. They are focused on RC stuff, but they have a good selection of model kits and supplies .
  22. Yep assembled the brake/spindle pieces look fine (but the spindle by itself not so much because of the brake locator).. .but lowering it beyond a hair or two..would be a fairly big project by my standards (this being my point)
  23. I'm not sure on this particular kit but...I'm thinking its likely square in shape with with a raised portion to locate the brake rotors with a hole inside to mount the wheel , that has locatng pins (think ball joints) at the top and bottom. I don't think they look much like the "real" parts...maybe the poster will take a pic?
  24. On the Aoshima wheel kits I have the "spindles/pin" is on the wheel itself (like Tamiya kits) with a hole/brake locator on the uprights that would be hard to move up or down.. Also the off-set of modern wheels often put the a arms inside the wheels which limits how much it can be lowered as well. Anything more then a scale inch or two turns into a fairly big job of reworking of the locations of the various suspension pieces...
