Update 4/7/2024 - The Engine Pretty got the engine as detailed as I plan to do it. I kept it reasonably period correct starting with the kit flathead. Some Replicas and Miniatures of Maryland Flathead pieces added realism to the engine. I borrowed the twin carb manifold from the AMT 49 Mercury and added Model Car Garage carbs/linkage and Parts by Parks air cleaners. Some additional aftermarket pieces plus some pieces from the parts box finished it off. Paint is Flathead Green from MCW.

Revell '56 Chevrolet 1/25 scale Bel-Air sedan chrome body trim
Exotics_Builder replied to horsepower's topic in Wanted!
56 BelAir in 1/25? Would that be the much older version? The current Revell 56 is a 210. This picture is from the web (not mine) but is this what you seek. -
2024-03-31 Update - Wheels and tires. For this project, I decided on Replicas and Miniatures of Maryland Big and Little Whitewall Resin tires. Wheels came out of the parts box. I believe they were originally from some MPC 70’s kit, but don’t really recollect. To dress up, I added some valve stems from USCP that I recently got. I do have different valve stem sets, but decided on these to try out. Wheel backs were from the parts box as well and integrated with the kit’s to fit the mountings.

AMT vs Revell 69 Camaro
Exotics_Builder replied to Brutalform's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
The Revell 1/25 scale 1969 is the best option. And Revell did issue a Yenko version of it. Keith Marks also offers a Yenko decal set for the Revell kit. The Monogram 1/24 is very misshapen. https://public.fotki.com/mofobow/chevy/camaro/69_camaro_yenko/69_camaro_yenko_a-1.html -
You got it. If you are using the 66 GTO engine as the base, then the Firebird manifold is best. Blobular is a good description of the AMT manifold. PM me your snail mail and I will get it out next week. I'll ping you with a tracking number.

Not to complicate things. I did find the Revell Manifold. I also pulled out the Prestige version 65 Bonneville and 64 Tempest I have. They both have a single carb manifold (appear to be exactly the same). It gets down to what engine are you using. I did a quick match of the Revell manifold to the engine in my 64 Tempest and it is a bit wider, needing some added surgery for fit. Let me know which would work better for your build.

I should have one lying around as I did this with my 68 Firebird. Will have to go through the Parts stash though.

What Do You Think?
Exotics_Builder replied to StevenGuthmiller's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
As much as the OHC six is great, you're then in Day 2 mode. I'd aim for the 326 2BBL as first option, 4BBL as second. -

My club’s 2024 theme for our May show is the AMT(Lindberg) 34 Ford Pickup. This is somewhat unfamiliar territory for me, but I decided to try my best to do one for the event. I got the Lindberg version with the stake truck option to fit what I want to do with it. It will be a custom, with a special commercial twist that will become evident as it nears completion. I have already cleaned up the body, made some mods, applied the color and first clear coat. I also have the wheel/tire package built up (more info later) and in the process of doing the flathead V8 detailing. Here are the first of the in-progress photos. More to come soon.

'66 Chevelle emblems
Exotics_Builder replied to Chuckyg1's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
If you check the Model Car Garage PE set for the 66, it does have almost all of what you're seeking. Can't quite tell what the last emblem is? -
Off the top of my head, the Revell 32 Fords with the Small Block Ford V8 has one. Called a Pump in the instructions, Part Number 70. The Revell 66 Chevy has the AC Delco style, part number 30 AMT 68 El Camino has one, part number 10 Other model car kits have different styles. More modern GM engines have the rotary AC compressor. Late version 62 AMT TBird has the Ford piston version.

Round 2 Can We See The Chevette and stock Vega Again?
Exotics_Builder replied to oldcarfan's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
You can get the Cosworth Vega engine and wheels from Canuck 3D, in the USA it would be through Geroge Bojaciuk (who posts on this forum). I have those parts and they are excellent quality. Got the decals from Keith Marks (I believe). This is the base kit I'm using -
Before moving back to Washington state, a club I belonged to in Illinois did a bulk order so folks wanting only one or two parts could benefit. We had a focal point collect and make the order then distribute it to the parties in the order. A tad of work, but helpful to those of more limited means. For me, I build up an order for myself and go as big as I can. That was especially true when a lot of the Ferrari focused parts were available from Norm.

Audi ETron GT, Revell, 1/24 (EasyKit)
Exotics_Builder replied to Matt Bacon's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Loving it. I got some Geromino wheels to finish mine (still on the shelf) -
Just to relate what kind of person Norm is, he contacted me recently when he read my write up on Custom 48 Ford. In that, I had mentioned the grilles being rubbery. He wanted to know about any other problems there may have been and see about digging out the mold to recast. This was on a product that is almost 30 years old. I have interacted with him for years, but never actually met him. Yet, he was willing to try to help out because of who he is. I declined the offer as I have found out that the grille is very similar to a 41 Lincoln. I happen to have an unbuilt Monogram kit on the shelf and, sure enough, with some surgery it can be made to work. The Monogram kit is now a parts kit (everything there but the grilles). I have scads of his product, including the Ferrari pieces he did years back. And I will continue to order from him until the day he decides to hang it up. A GENTLEMAN, pure and simple.
