I have been working on a 1961 Chevy Impala SS for the past several weeks and thought I would post some pictures. I still have a lot to do as you can see but we are getting there. this is actually very close to the one I had many many years ago. Comments, as always, are welcome. Thank you for looking.

For the past several weeks I have been unable to get on the Model cars Magazine Forum at all. Every time I would attempt to get on this site my web browser would tell me, unable to load page. I checked every thing I could think of trying to repair the problem. During that time I joined two of the other sites and started looking for names that I thought might be a member of this Forum. I actually found several and contacted them asking for assistance. Finally I was able to make contact with harry and he told me to shut down my modem and computer and reboot everything. That did not work. He then suggested I download Firefox and see if that worked. I did that and also shut everything down and rebooted and here I am. I would have thought Internet Explorer was being updated constantly but it isn't. My entire problem was caused by an out dated Internet Explorer. Thankfully it was that simple. And thankfully we have Administrators here that actually care. Oh, those other sites. Nothing wrong with them but they aren't Model Cars Magazine Forum.

Growing up in Norwood Ohio there were quite a few of the tri-5 Chevys that were mild custom. You have done this classic car very well, It looks dead on the money.

Anything that promotes this hobby and gives us the chance to get to-gether is a good thing and one that I would support.

Yes Harry I did. And thank you for taking the time to help me out I really appreciate it.

Welcome aboard. You will love it here as I do. Great information. Great inspiration and Great entertainment.

I have not been able to get on this forum for at least two weeks but thanks to Harry I am here. Praise God!

Sometimes I look at a build that a person has posted and I am at a loss for words. WOW!
-
it looks good in my opinion. I painted a 1970 Barracuda five times before I could get it looking half way right.

Thank you very much, just what I was looking for.

I have been wanting to try trimming out the chrome on the models I build. I bought some cheap aluminum foil and started messing around with it on the chrome trim on some door panels. I am amazed at how great it looks and how easy, well not really hard, it is to do. But as always one question, at least, arises. How in the heck to I attack it to the door panel. Getting glue on just the window crank seems to be a study in futility. Help!!

Detail on this kits isn't bad but it could be better. I have an issue with bad places on the body needing repair and the hood markings are a little messed up. But it is a nice kit and workable.

Just in case you didn't see this at the Drag race forum
DRG replied to Greg Myers's topic in WIP: NASCAR
My first time as an adult at the dragstrip I thought I was having a heartattack when the funny cars started runnning. The feelings I had never experienced before are difficult to explain. It was absolutely the experience of a lifetime. I loved it. -
I am working on a 1961 Chevrolet Impala SS and thought I would post some progress photo's. Got the body primed I have a few issues to take care of on the body by the passenger door. And a spot on the hood. Got the engine finished, wired and plumbed. got the undercarriage done. I have a spot to touch-up with paint on the rear axle. I also noticed I run the gas line down the wrong side of the frame. I'm used to laying under the car, not turning the frame over. Oh well, I'll do better next time. And I got the interior painted and ready for assembly. Now if I can just get up enough nerve to try detailing the interior. Thanks for looking. All comments are appreciated and welcome.

That's a darn shame as I loved that car. Darn near cried when it got wrecked at the end.

I've done that on occassion and then couldn't figure out way I did not get any modeling done.

I have reached the conclusion that there is something in the water in California. That is one incrediable build.

Stalled projects; we all have them.
DRG replied to whale392's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
This is a great thread, though I'm not sure it's better than Workbench Saturday's. I have currently three builds that have been set aside because of different problems. I was feeling a little guilty about that and the fact that I have a stash of fifteen models. Not feeling so guilty now, thank's guys. You have more stalled projects than I have models. -
First time with flames and an Air Brush. WOW

Stalled projects; we all have them.
DRG replied to whale392's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I have projects that are stalled by my not having the needed skills to do what I want. Then there is the economy that interfers with purchasing the wired distributors and other things I feel I need to build a correct model. Then there are times when a model is coming to-gether and I will make a stupid mistake and not being sure how to fix it back in the box it goes. Then there are the stalled projects outside of the realm of modeling that interfere also. -
That is one great looking 66 ford, great detailing.

I use the blue for pieces I mat need to move around a little to position. I use super glue for easily placed parts and clear windshield glue for windows and lenses.
-
using putty to fill the gaps would be the only solution I know of, sorry.

I started working on cars when I was fourteen in 1964. It took me two years and a lot of part time jobs to restore my 56 Ford Crown Vicky. Next up was a 1961 Chevt Impala SS with a 409. Now I'm to old and stove up to work on cars so I build models instead.

A Thread for Trains
DRG replied to Railfreak78's topic in WIP: All The Rest: Motorcycles, Aviation, Military, Sci-Fi, Figures
I don't have a train layout anymore, Mom gave it away when I returned from the service in late 69. It was 32 foot long and sixteen foot wide, took up the entire attic. All Lionel 027 I believe. All I have left are some old metal cars that used to be on the trainset.
