I know the kit well. I first got this kit in the early 2000's when it was released as a Dick Landy car. That first issue had the body with no marker lights molded in and those side marker decals. All following issues ; the bodies had no marker lights molded in. But, there was also something else in the kit , on the chrome tree. There are two chrome plated disk shaped objects on the chrome tree that look like marker lights. They are very small and hard to notice. If you were to look closely at the chrome trees you will find them. The instructions make no reference to these.

Round 2 , in the last few years have been either repairing/updating tooling and doing new tooling. Case in point, the 63 Chevy II wagon. That's a brand new tool Round 2 just did. I think our chances for an all new kit of the 68 Coronet and 71-72 Demon are very good. Keep writing to the model kit companies. Eventually it will happen.

What I did when I wanted to make round marker lights for the AMT 68 Roadrunner kit; I used light duty aluminum foil, placed a piece over the marker light on my MPC 68 Coronet. Pressed it down to make the impression of the marker light. Filled the backside with a mixture of superglue and baking soda. Now you made a casting of the marker light. The foil sticks to it so all you have to do is just trim off the excess on the sides and your done.

Awesome build. How did you do the round side marker lights?

I'm with you on that. Revell could do a 68 like they did with the Chevelle. They did a 69 Chevelle then later on did a 68. Same thing can be done to the Coronet. If Revell does a 68 Coronet; it needs to be in 1/25 scale. It's going to mean a massive retooling. The kit companies are now retooling some of their older subjects. Now could be the right time to do this.

The Monogram 69 Superbee needs a facelift. It's been re released numerous times as the same 6 pack car since 84. Would love to see Revell change this one to a regular 69 Superbee with either the power bulge hood or the twin hood scoop ramcharger hood and add the twin side scoops to the body. Maybe even do this one as an all new 1/25 scale kit like they did with the 70 Barracuda or Cuda kit recently.

In reference to your first paragraph. The search feature does not work well on this site. To sit there and go through pages and pages of info to see if something has been discussed takes too long and just not productive. There are new people that come on this site. They would have no idea that what they want to bring up has been discussed before. That's why we see this repetion. In reference to your second paragraph; I don't know if just people who build kits from the 70's. It probably comes from people who build kits manufactured in the 60's 70's, 80's 90's, etc as well. Now , things are changing very fast in the car model hobby. Kits are coming out faster, new kit manufactures ie Salvinos, Atlantis , etc are coming on board. So yes, these out dated threads will come up more frequently. -

I totally agree. But others don't. I see others commenting in the negative when someone brings up an old topic for the umpteenth time. Maybe their negativity is because they think their word is the final say. Well sorry to break their hearts, but that's what this forum is all about . For people to talk about topics whether or not they have been duplicated already. That's how we get more up to date info. If we didn't have that there would be no purpose for this message board. -
I know that the 72 chevy truck racers wedge; the truck kit and wedge in the box is coming out. But, the other version of the 72 Chevy pickup coming out; will that be the Coke a Cola version? What will be in the kit?

amt 1202 1/25 AMT 1963 Chevy II Nova Station Wagon - Craftsman Plus
GMP440 replied to Casey's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Here's an interesting angle on this. Round 2 sees now that their target market are the older builders. What have the older builders been requesting? A lot want to see those subjects that were released back in the day again. Just a guess; I think Round 2 is trying to do one final run of everything. Kits now are coming out faster than they used to 10 or 15 years ago. Just a hunch.- 599 replies

In reference to the last paragraph; this is apparently the direction Round 2 is going in order to get those oldies out again. I take my hat to them for retooling and recreating subjects we haven't seen in over 50 years. To all the naysayers that stated over the years that model kit companies were not going to invest money to re do tooling of 50 year old kits; I guess they were wrong. I say to Round 2; please keep them coming. You can count on our support.- 599 replies

Whitewall decals on vinyl tires
GMP440 replied to Oldcarfan27's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I used to use the decals. It was tedious. Stopped using the decals and just bought tires that have the whitewalls. Modelhaus is still in business, but they only sell tires. They have a very nice selection of whitewall tires. -

In all likelyhood, this probably will come out in the future. Round 2 already has the AWB Nova, the trailer and soon to be released 63 Chevy II wagon is on the way.- 599 replies

I agree. I think a lot of more surprises are on the way. Round 2 is even fixing and modified old tooling. Lot of people have stated that this tooling and that tooling are gone forever. Looks like in some instances they have been wrong. -

Right on. Finally, Round 2 is starting to get kits out that have not been seen in over 50 years. People are still complaining. I bet if you gave each complainer a million dollars they still would complain.- 599 replies
