Is the Kyosho RC 1/12 Porsche 962 injection molded?
LDO replied to LDO's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Well that's a bummer. -
I wonder if you might be remembering Eddie Hill's 1989 crash. His car lifted and body panels flew off. I found a video clip but am having trouble posting it using my phone.

Love that Twin Mill. -
That's what I meant to say. The one in which Icewave just got shredded. That episode could have been a "greatest hits" compilation.

Friday's episode DELIVERED THE CARNAGE. I love the show. There was one match on Friday that had parts scattered everywhere. The other fights weird incredible, too. It was an awesome episode. I prefer the Fembots from the Austin Powers movie.

BIC "White Out" for White Walls on vinyl tires..
LDO replied to Deuces's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Years ago, I also used artist's acrylic paint for the white shoe polish markings on funny car tires. That application was okay to have streaks and be imperfect. I mixed in a tiny bit of yellow and brown to get the look of sun faded shoe polish. -
I had not heard of that car. Cool idea and brilliant execution. But...6 years. Gee, I wonder what it cost. Gotta be 7 figures.

What was the highest speed he reached? -
No pics, but I made steak fajitas last night. The recipe was from an episode of Good Eats about steak. They were not very good. I don't know if I did something wrong or if I just don't care for his marinade, but it was still a bummer. If I try it again, I'll use something other than skirt steak. Maybe wait for ribeye to go on sale. I think I'll look for a clone recipe of Taco Cabana's fajitas. I really like theirs.

I'm sitting here watching this on cable TV. During the scene in which the Auto Destruct sequence is initiated, passageways from the bridge open, to let crew members evacuate. Each passage has door that lowers down like a ramp. The lower surface of the ramp is a cowl induction hood scoop. I wish I could do a screen grab and post it here.

Scale Engines that run...
LDO replied to Ace-Garageguy's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Yeah I'd like to see a scale R-4360 pulling a race plane around the sky. -
Stand alone engine kits
LDO replied to Greg Myers's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I think the Pocher Volvo truck engine would be a great start for a 1/8 scale pulling tractor. Two would be even better. -
I have used a paid Fotki for around 18 years. IMHO, free hosting is obsolete.

Jessica Chastain. Especially in The Help. Wow. I didn't even recognize her.

Darryl Greenamayer's "Red Baron" civilian F-104 could be another option. -
I hope food and drink are both welcome here. I started 2 different infused vodkas tonight. One is garlic, the other is garlic and jalapeño. The idea came from a discussion on another forum about the liqueurs I'm making. A guy said the best infused vodka he ever had was with garlic, and suggested it would be great in a Bloody Mary. I had a heck of a time finding a "how-to" that actually gave quantities. Many simply say put garlic in Vodka. These have 9 cloves in 750ml. There is one jalapeño in the second jar. You can see that one jar needs more Vodka. I'll add more tomorrow. I've never had a Bloody Mary. I'm looking forward to trying it. I'll be using tomato juice from our garden. I've also read that this makes a pretty good shot.

I opened this thread to ask if he wrote that. Great episode. -
Another snack. Not really sure what it call it. The idea started with a discussion on another forum about frozen tater tots. Someone suggested "Tot nachos", which led to this: Baked hash browns (30 min at 400 degrees on a greased cookie sheet. I greased with bacon grease.) Flip them halfway through. Shredded cheese, sour cream, green onions, crumbled bacon, and pickled jalapeños from the garden. It was darn good. You can see that some got kinda charred. I suspect that can be avoided by simply making a thicker layer of hash browns. I didn't know they would shrink so much. They lose A LOT of volume. I think I'll make more later today and try to improve it.

I did make more liqueurs. Black walnut, more blackberry and raspberry, 2 other cherries (I now have tart, sweet, and mixed), tutti frutti, and cranberry. Two others that I will make soon are almond and peach/ginger. Maybe that garlic idea as well. I think these would be great added to seltzer water for making hard sodas. Ok... maybe not a garlic soda. Anyway- I tried a couple of them today. Wow! They are great. It's a real fruit flavor, not like a mass-produced, overprocessed commercial product. I think they will be great, however they are served. I find this whole thing just fascinating. Now I need to find cool bottles for storing and serving. If you can find a copy of A.J. Rathbun's book "Luscious Liqueurs", pick one up. I got it for $6.48 at Half Price Books. A lot of recipes, along with serving suggestions. Also photos of the cool bottles he stores them in.

I think it would be cool with a tube chassis under it and a supercharged Ford 5.2 flat plane engine pumping out about 700 horses. It would go like a scalded ape and sound insane. Look pretty wild, too.

That is really cool, but do real trucks like this actually haul cargo, or are they just for show?
