  1. I didn’t see Kenwood blue at MCW. It’s not a color for something for something wildly popular like a factory 1969 Camaro color, but I saw another seller with two shades of blue for a 1930s Bugatti “tank” race car. I’ll have to keep looking. If no one sells a good match, it’s not the end of the world. It means no one can say mine is inaccurate. Pretty much.
  2. Was anyone doing it back in the 1960s? Maybe folks like Michele Conti? Was the metal grille in Tamiya’s old 1/24 Lotus Seven made of photetch, or made a different way? I remember being really impressed with that as a teenager back around 1984 or so. To be fair, information traveled a lot slower then. We didn’t have all the answers at our fingertips. Thanks. Lee
  3. I would like to be more accurate than Tamiya’s recommendation in the instructions. Thanks. Lee
  4. If advance payment would help make it happen, let me know. I would REALLY like to have several of these. Thanks. Lee
  5. P-51 Mustang. At speed
  6. I had that made into a solid 8 1/2 x 11 sheet of decal years ago. I’ll have to see if I can find it. I’m not 100% sure it is accurate for an original Royale. I believe that pattern is from a replica that is or was in the Sinsheim Auto+Technic museum in Germany. I could be wrong on that.
  7. You’re welcome. I don’t remember what markings were on the plane, but it was all white and the pylons had rearward facing ECM pods. They looked like cylinders faired into the back end of the pylon, with that pink/purple glass on the back end.
  8. When I was deployed to Macedonia in 1999-2000, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs Of Staff, General Hugh Shelton, visited the base. That guy had a lot of rank, responsibility, and clout. He showed up in a 707. That’s a whole lotta plane.
  9. I gave mine Purina Beneful topped with gravy made from chicken scraps, boiled chicken liver, a little bit of carrots and apple. Put the ingredients in a blender and there you go. I also made “jerky” in the dehydrator. It had chicken, boiled chicken liver, and dried blueberries. When dried, the pieces looked like Chihuahua turds, but she loved them.
  10. I did listen to this in between calls a few days ago. Definitely worth a little bit of your time. The part at Reagan’s use of the Blackbird over North Korea was great.
  11. It’s just about bedtime, but now I have something to listen to on the road tomorrow. I have seen him in a documentary about the SR-71. He mentioned hitting some pretty high Mach numbers on an operational mission. Possibly after strikes on Libya in 1986. My memory is a bit fuzzy on the dates. Btw there is a guy in Europe who is 3D printing a 1/24 scale SR-71. That would be an awesome ceiling hanger.
  12. It seems hit or miss since Chrome Tech USA shut down.
  13. I wondered if you might weigh in on this. Would you happen to know where I could find an old 3.4??
  14. Can the early chrome cam covers replace the ugly, ribbed cam covers on later engines?
  15. It just occurred to me that I never see tool trucks when I’m in the field. I leave the shop in the morning and get on a tollway, exit and drive to new subdivisions that are not far from the exit. Not really tool truck territory. I’ll talk to the mechanics again and ask them to check with the tool trucks.
  16. I’m looking for one that is straight, no curves.
  17. I’m hoping to find a tool that is made in the US or Europe.
  18. I have one. The knockout plug is a flat plastic disc that gets wedged into the wall of the disposal. It needs to be pried out with a little force. The wire-fingered grabber can’t get it out.
  19. Good idea, but they get to the shop 2 hours after I leave. Now that you mention it, I have pulled up to a tool truck at a gas station to buy a tool. I can try that again. It’s been ages. No reason I can’t do that again.
  20. I have the junior size. They are useful for removing debris from shower heads and taking apart aerators. I need the king size one for reaching way down into a disposal to pop out the stupid knockout plug. The appliance guys bust out that plug during construction and then leave it in the disposal. It gets stuck and then makes a horrible racket. The plumbers always get sent out for it. We charge the appliance company for that, but still, a tool that makes it easier would be great. I have WAY more tools than any of my coworkers. It gets me extra work. The boss knows he can send me to calls without having to go back to the shop to sign for a specialty tool.
  21. The mechanic where I work has one. It’s about 18” long (my guess). He says he uses it for removing radiator hoses. Neither of us knows what it is called. He just bought it off a tool truck. I need it for removing debris from garbage disposals (I’m in the service department of a construction plumbing company). I can only find a tiny set of hooks and picks, or larger tools that are not a plain pick. Can anyone here tell me what I need to look for? Thanks. Lee
  22. Thank you for the advice. There is a gap to fill, but otherwise, it’s a pretty good fit.
