  1. Fiat Barchetta. I saw these in Germany when i served there in the '90s. Fujimi makes a model Here's another vote for a Ute/El Camino
  2. I thought of a better way to ask the question: How wide are the grille shell and cowl? A quick search showed roughly 20 1/4" inches for a '29 grille shell (if the one answer I found is correct). Ford's 4.6 DOHC is about 29 inches wide. Nothing wrong with cutouts, but good grief, having 5-6 inches poking out of each side is just ridiculous. I think the 928 engine is 2-3 inches wider. I have never sat in one of those old Fords. I'll take your word that they are cramped.
  3. I know, lots of different answers, and most will start with "it depends". I'm talking real world, which may or may not be the same when scaled down. I like DOHC V engines. Will Ford's 4.6 DOHC need hood side cutouts? Is a Deuce grille wider, making for less taper/wider engine compartment? Bonus question: Is there a 1/24 or 1/25 Porsche 928 with a good looking 4cam engine?
  4. Back in 1990, I bought a Nissan mini truck. A Japanese truck, assembled in Tennessee, with engine and trans made in Mexico. My aunt wanted to know why I didn't buy an American car. She had just bought a 1st gen Ford Probe. I asked "Why didn't YOU?". I had to show her the sticker in the door jamb that said "Built by Mazda for Ford".
  5. Nice! PM your address and I'll get it out as soon as I can.
  6. Thursday at the latest. I requested that day off. It's my birthday and (hopefully) the start of a 4-day weekend. I'm a plumber. I get paid hourly, with ten hours or so of overtime a week. It's tough to give up an hour or more of OT to stop at the Post Office.
  7. Mustangdude made a deal with me in PM. I would like another GT500 engine, though. If you want to make the same deal, I'll trade for a Revell '29 Ford, when it gets released. Just agree to it here. I'll take your word for it and send the Mustang. Send the '29 when it gets released. If you have an airplane stash, I'm looking for 1/48 B-29s, B-24s, and 1/72 B-36s.
  8. Specifically, magnesium. I'm wondering about getting a real car part polished, but I don't want to look after it daily. Can clear powder coat, or some other clear, keep the shine up, or will it dull because of the clear?
  9. Just better looking pulleys. The detail is soft on the kit parts. I'm building a show rod/street rod with exposed engine, so it's easy to see, not like under the hood of the GT500. BTW- if you want a GT500 minus engine, let me know. The engine is all I'm using out of the kit.
  10. ...and if so, I'm wondering if it's affordable. Thanks. Lee
  11. Look for tires from a Lamborghini Countach. It had 345 series tires. Also look for a Koenig Ferrari Testarossa.
  12. Whoa. A tire 24" wide? I was going to recommend a tire from a Fujimi exotic car, but I don't know of any that wide.
  13. I'll have to look for that back issue of MCM.
  14. Get one kit with a wheel you like. Have a machinist make a racing slick that fits. Have the combo copied in resin, either in one piece or two. I contacted a big player in the resin biz about copying parts for a project of mine. I was really surprised about how reasonable the price was. WAY cheaper than the learning curve if I tried it myself. The price request was for a set of four identical fenders/wheel pants for a 1930s art-deco looking "what-if" land speed racer in 1/16. The fenders are about 5 inches long and an inch or so high. I can't buy an Alumilite starter kit for the price I was quoted.

    GT 500

Tell us about those wheels. They look pretty wild.
  16. I should have added that modern (EFI) would be better. A water-cooled Vee engine. I may just look for a GT-500 engine.
  17. It's for a hot rod with an exposed engine. Would prefer a V-engine. Something besides SBC or BBC. Wondering what is out there. If only someone made a 1/12 Porsche 928 4-can engine. That would be awesome. Thanks, Lee
  18. Does it have to be unbuilt? I've gotten some real bargains in 1/6 scale Tamiya built up bikes.
  19. THANK YOU. I WISH I COULD USE A BIGGER FONT TO SAY THAT. If you find yourself in the Austin area, I'll buy you a beer for that. Yes, that one post and nothing else.
  20. I'll provide the details later. Just dust off that checkbook.
  21. I have a great investment opportunity for you.
  22. That's why I buy stuff at the LHS. It's worth paying a few dollars more to HAVE a local hobby shop. I always check to see if I can get it there first.
  23. I put tuna steaks on the grill last night. First time for that. I used a marinade recipe that I found online. Turned out pretty good.
  24. I got it on vinyl at this great little store. You've probably never heard of it. But seriously- they don't show all of the people who say they've never heard of X band.
