  1. It could be worse. It could be relatives who always need free plumbing. If plumber tells them No, it could cause problems with other relatives. Oy Vey.
  2. R.I.P., Top Gear. It was a great show. My 67 year old mom, who is not into cars, loved the show. Like the commercial said, "You don't have to like cars, you just have to like having fun". Having said that, I don't blame BBC one bit. I can't stand people who always want to stir up trouble. He was always trying to piss people off. He pissed off the wrong guy.
  3. Hmmm...daydreaming...'26-'27 Model T roadster on the Z'd Model A chassis. That sure would be nice.
  4. If the wheels and tires are exposed, it's a lakester.
  5. I like the way you think. Sounds like a cool project.
  6. A 1/8 scale P-38 drop tank. It's vacuum-formed, and includes one copy in clear plastic, so I can make a model of one like the Markley Brothers had, with clear nose for better aero. I ordered two complete tanks + clear parts. One for me and one for a friend. Ordered today. They have not arrived yet.
  7. Will we EVER find out who these clowns are? This game is getting old.
  8. All this 1/24 vs 1/25 business relies on model companies making perfectly sized parts. Just give it a try. See if it fits. Maybe it will fit. Maybe it needs a little finessing.
  9. Sounds good to me, too. Good for everyone involved.
  10. I'm not sure what the LDO comment means, but the initials stand for long distance operator. It was a screen name I gave myself when I was an M1A1 tank crewman. I also had a rifle custom built for 1,000yard target shooting. Not offended, I just don't get the comment.
  11. This kit could be a huge seller. Revell is working with aftermarket suppliers who will offer parts specifically for it. I think a magazine contest could be a good promotional tool for Revell. They may even donate prizes. One category could be for cars that use the aftermarket parts made with Revell's cooperation.
  12. I think it would be a cool idea. Lots of options for box stock, maybe a second category for modified/kitbashed. Why, shoot, I might even get one finished.
  13. Ferrari Daytona.
  14. Oh OK. Is there a 1/12 engine that you could use as a pattern?
  15. It was Chuck Jordan's car. His coworkers at GM did that as a joke while he was on vacation.
  16. Tamiya's Testarossa has had one for 20+ years. Revell/Monogram also have one, but the Tamiya looks better. Where to put one? A model of Bob Norwood's 288 GTO drag car, of course. It had a flat-12 up front, making crazy horsepower. It was fed by a massive centrifugal supercharger which was really a turbocharger with the exhaust inlet side cut off and converted to chain drive. Crazy car.
  17. I was deployed in the National Guard a few years ago. One of the other guys was a cop. It was a really boring deployment, here in the states. We had lots of spare time on our hands, and watched a lot of movies. The cop told me he never had any idea how many cop/donut references were in movies. One that stands out for me is the super slo-mo donut falling to the ground in Con-Air.
  18. I've only used mine once, for that belly tank project. If you want to work out a trade, we can talk.
  19. I can't claim credit for it. I read it somewhere, possibly Fine Scale Modeler. I don't remember. It's been years. Darn sure works, though. The frame to hold the plastic was just two pieces of corrugated cardboard with thumbtacks holding the plastic. good for one or two uses, but that's all. Wood is a much better choice. It does show that you can buy a few parts in an afternoon and be making model parts that evening, with the most complex tool being a hole saw.
  20. You can build a vacuum former. It doesn't have to be big enough to make 1/48 scale bombers. I built this one a few years ago The brown "platform' is Perf Board from Radio Shack. It's super-glued to a Project Box, also from Radio Shack. The white pipe on the left of it is PVC pipe and fittings, put together with "blue glue" (very strong PVC cement). Get PVC that is as close as possible to a vacuum cleaner hose. Make up the difference with duct tape.
