  1. Pete- I agree on country of origin for tools. I have 2 dial calipers. One is a Mitutoyo I got for free from work, back around 1990. It still works fine. It does get dusty on my work bench, so I bought a Starret off Craigslist to use in machining. Models aren't tools.
  2. AFAIK, there is only one kit available. It's in 1/76 scale by Giesbers Models; a resin kit from Europe. If you want the standard armor scale of 1/35, you'll have to do some scratch building. The TOG II uses the same turret as the Challenger A30. SKP makes a kit of that tank. The TOG II has skirts that hide its road wheels, which means you would not have to build those. The tracks could be an issue, if they are unique to this tank. I don't know, but I suspect that it needed giant tracks to support its 80 tons in mud, so probably did not use tracks from another tank. If you are not picky, you might get away with using tracks from a 1/25 tank. The hull is all flat sheet and rivets/bolts. It's old school scratchbuilding with Evergreen sheet styrene and rivets/bolts from a source like Tichy Train Group.
  3. Wow. This was predicted on the show "Beyond 2000" about 20 years ago.
  4. Nothing. I like to buy American made tools.
  5. My employer. I requested to get off work early today, so I can pick up something at a freight terminal. I was told yes, but that changed this morning. Now I'm trying to arrange having a friend meet me at the terminal with his pickup and trailer. The whole reason I have to go to the terminal is because work wouldn't let me have it delivered to our shop. It's big enough, we have forklifts and a dock, but the answer was no, because they were afraid my freight might get damaged. The friend with a pickup and trailer is a field supervisor. He had a bathtub at the shop and management gave him a hard time, for the same reason. There's a manager at work who keeps his personal trailer in the back lot. I think I'll look for a new job. Management doesn't seem to understand that EVERYBODY is hiring plumbers these days.
  6. I'm confused about lack of information in this thread. Why does everything have to be a link to some other site? Why can't people just write a quick summary of what they read somewhere else?
  7. Except that magazines are BLAH_BLAH_BLAH_BLAH unless they're stuck in 1969. Yes, I'm being sarcastic.
  8. Just curious. The LHS has the Revell kit. Not a huge deal. The car will get chopped up.
  9. A couple of seasons ago, I was watching the first new episode in a long time. Before Jeremy Clarkson could say "Tonight!", I shouted it myself. My dog, who thinks the only reason to get excited is a squirrel in the back yard, ran to the door, barking. Fast forward a year or so...she heard the theme music and started barking like crazy. She NEEDED to go outside NOW! Yeah, of course I crank the theme music once in a while <grin>. Funny dog. Funny what they remember/associate with memories.
  10. It's a stinker. Proportions are wrong all over. It's like someone designed a kit using an artist's rendering for reference. Regarding the value of the car, I think the recent sale of another 275GTB for 27 million bucks will drive up bidding on this one.
  11. We ought to make a pool. The person who gets closest wins...a 275 GTB model.
  12. I once airbrushed flames onto the helmet I wore inside the M1A1 tank...tactical colors, of course. I had to take them off because my helmet was no longer like everyone else's.
  13. I'm guessing more than 10 million
  14. A deer once ate a jalapeƱo plant of mine, peppers included, all the way to the ground.
  15. The Revell Miami Vice Daytona is a model of a kit car; small-block Chevy andI think it has a Corvette chassis.
  16. I built a second keyhole garden in the back yard. It's a 6' diameter raised bed with compost basket in the middle. It is supposed to be "fed" from the compost and need very little water. Last year, we got plants, but no veggies. This year, I got the idea that the whole compost/little water idea is hokey. I laid soaker hoses on top and...wow! I'm about to have more Poblanos than I know what to do with! I think I have 9 plants and they sprout more peppers every day. The biggest is only an inch or so long, but I think it will be more than we can eat. Also growing bell peppers, jalapenos, onions, shallots, tomatoes, zucchini, spinach, etc. I really can't wait to make home made Chili Rellenos with Poblanos from my own back yard.
  17. That paint is beautiful.
  18. I'll send my donation tonight. I hope to visit GSLMCC and the museum one day.
  19. Kind of a bummer.
  20. Ted's Holdover
  21. Something more affordable in real life would be a Porsche 928. It has a 5 liter V-8 and rear transaxle. It went out of production in 1996. A lot cheaper than a Ferrari. If your donor can be American, get a C5 Corvette. It also has what you're looking for.
