How often do you visit Hobby Lobby?
2000-cvpi replied to dantewallace's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Yep, same Diablo kit. I like the Avanti kit, just not at the price they are asking, 16.79 each. Maybe around ten dollars each and I would get several more. -

That's very well said. -

It was a joke. based on the fact this thread has more than jumped the shark. -

Lighten up Francis, it was just a joke. Nothing more than that. -

Alright, everybody move along. Nothing to see here. Ben called in other truckers for backup. Dozer kits are the wave of the future. Buy lots of CAT yellow and John Deere green paint. -

Something we both can agree on. -

A reissue costs way less than a new tool, how hard is it to understand? Reissues does not relate to sales. -

Prices of out of production kits have no basis for the popularity of a new tool kit of the same car. Using your example of a Pinto that is newly tooled versus a oop kit version of the same car, the reissue costs less for the company and carries much less risk. It's a simple concept, eBay value doesn't mean squat. If it did there would be lots of Johan kits from a new tool, and there isn't. A new tool Pinto would not sell well enough to justify the cost to the company that makes it. Especially whenAMT could reissue it for practically nothing compared to a new tool, version. -

Big difference, those are reissued kits with the tooling cost paid for. Much less cost and risk to the manufacturer than a full detail new tool kit. I'm smart enough to see the difference, and I can see both sides of this issue without a bias either way. It really is a simple idea that these construction kits are not popular enough to justify a new tool kit. The model car companies are run by some really smart people and if they thought it was a profitable idea, they would do it. -
Is our hobby, growing or skrinking?

My seven year old daughter asked for a cell phone, I told her when she gets a job, she can get a cell phone. Of course she is building theMMustang snap kit right now. So she better get the building bug, I have way too many kits that she could help build. -

You're a one also, the simple fact is they won't sell. Not in the slightest, several hundred modelers world wide can't support a niche kit to be tooled. I like almost anything model related and a construction kit would be a very slow seller. I also like oddball car kits like most of the Johan kits. But I understand that if they made a AMC Matador kit today, it would sell like BLAH_BLAH_BLAH_BLAH. It's just the truth. -
Stopped at Hobby Lobby again. I still can't believe that the tire packs are only 7.99 retail and under five bucks with tax and the 40% coupon.

This is pretty revealing fact, the topic started in the general truck section about what truck modelers would like to see made has only twelve posts. Several from the same guys. Must be a lot of closet construction modelers. Also the first page of posts goes back to the beginning of August. Not much of an online presence for such a huge market. -
Did you read the posts in this topic before you asked that? The odds don't look good you would ever see what you ordered.

I went to both of my local Hobby Lobby's and bought these.

I went there again yesterday to check out the clearance kits. The word is out about them. All that was left was six Avanti's and Lamborghini kits. -
Nice job making all of the older guys here think every person under 35 is a idiot. I am four years older than you and I would be ashamed to come across so poorly as you have. It's not a grammar Nazi thing, it's very hard to read what you type. Another thing to think about is the mental picture that others will make about you based on what you type. My mental picture of you isn't too flattering. I read my post after it was posted. I found an error, and corrected it.

Yes I do, it's called an education. Sometimes my phone auto corrects a word and I miss it before I post. I also will edit my post to fix any errors.

The one here is the same. It's got more good looking women than any dating web site. -

I don't understand all of the animosity to towards a store. What exactly is the problem? The owners religious views is the only thing that I could think of, and it's not radical at all. -
Is the Rat Roaster at Hobby Lobby?
2000-cvpi replied to Matt T.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
At my Hobby Lobby, the Petty Charger was 34.99 so with the coupon. it was just under 21.00, can't beat that anywhere. They also restocked Lindberg kits for the first time I have ever seen. -
I went back to Hobby Lobby today, I bought the last Ford van and 61 Ford on clearance, and one of the 57Fireball Roberts kits.

Bring more than one coupon, they have a lot of new kits.
