  1. Thanks Steve, plan to try different things out on each of the 57 snaptite kits I have. And also using them for airbrush paint practice.
  2. Applied the TS-24 today, got some issues with the roof, hood and bed. So going to colour sand and apply another coat.
  3. Tires look really good, wheel chocks are a great idea. That you are. Generally if you can learn one trade, it's not that difficult to learn another.
  4. It goes to show the products, tools and skills you use and have developed building Gunpla easily transfer over to the Auto's. Nice job detailing the brakes. Keep at it, look forward to the next update.
  5. A well planned a executed build Steve, impressive effort to capture many of the elements of 1:1 inspiration. Bravo! Look forward to seeing the glamour pics.
  6. Not really into muscle cars and I find factory stock dead set boring. But I can certainly appreciate the time and skill involved to produce such a thoroughly detailed model car. Well done and congratulations Steve. You da man
  7. Yep, world has too many pretenders.
  8. Not much of an update, applied white base coat. Used Gaianotes paint which is excellent. High gloss, fast drying, very durable. Thinned 1:1.5 and used the Vision with .38 @ 25psi.
  9. Thanks David, removed them for something different. And thanks for sharing that info of how they did it on the 1:1's back in the day.
  10. Lots of variables to cause the pebbling. Probably not thinned enough, shot to far away from the surface. Psi bit low around 20 be a good place to start. 1:1 is the go with lacquer paints, primers and surfacers 1:1.5 Airbrush and needle size would be good to know as well.
  11. Surprising how good it looks with those 350Z wheels, good idea using them.
  12. Looks decent for 48 hr build, dont think I could build one that quick. Well done.
  13. Done well, quick simple builds are good to help keep the hobby fun. What is the colour ??
  14. Yeah can see where you are coming from. Some parts would be quicker and simpler to scratch build. Thats the benefit of being an all rounder like yourself you can pick and choose what skills to use where and when.
  15. Excellent re working of a kit to suit your vision.
  16. So cool seeing the 3D tech being incorporated into builds, possibilities are endless.
  17. Good job on the paint recovery, fingers crossed the clear works out for you.
  18. Pretty cool idea, something different other than the usual Ecto or hearse. Sometimes the ideas cant wait and need to stray from other builds to suss out fresh idea's. Happens to me all the time LOL!
  19. Done a bit of rough body work, flattened the hood and removed the rockets and also flattened the entire side trim. Then wet sanded everything from 600-2500 with Infini sanding sponge. And applied another coat of 1500 gray surfacer. Im hoping one more round of wet sanding to tidy up the rough spots where I got lazy, another coat of 1500 surfacer, a final round of wet sanding and should be good for paint. Thats a spot of 500 surfacer on the headlight surround, chasing a pinhole thats giving me grief. Also a few other spots of 500 here and there but not as noticeable as that one
  20. Was liking the blue in the wip thread, but the change to this colour combo does get ones attention and so does that engine. Done well.
  21. Can relate to collecting more than building. But thats half the fun when passionate about this hobby. Liking your approach to getting back into building and what you have on the bench. Look forward to seeing more of the Supra and Silvia, like what you have going on with them so far.
  22. Still as impressive as the first time I seen it all painted and assembled. The weathering is my favourite part looks very realistic.
  23. Got out the Pen sander to make short work of removing the quarter panel trim. Used a couple different sanding heads and self adhesive 240 grit. Also pre scribed around some of the trim, deepened the door, trunk and hood lines. Quick rough sand up to 600 then put on a coat of 1500 gray surfacer to see what else needs work. Not bad for the first lazy go around.
  24. Thanks David, wont been seen once its on the shelf. So didnt have to do anything fancy, just kept it simple to serve it's purpose.
  25. Got the stance set on the 57 Bel Air. Lot of cutting and mods to the undercarriage to get it to set so low with the Pegasus 19' and 23' wheels. Oob Chassis. Very limited how much it could be lowered with the wheels I chose to use. So out with the Dremel and sanding drum. It all had to go. Started of with a masking tape template of the floor pan and re built from there. Sometimes you got to do what ever it takes to get them slammed. Stance matters.
