    Yeah maybe a bit of tail down on the 57. Soon mate soon, LOL Used Mr Hobby Super Metallic 2 from the 10ml jars Valve covers, Super Chrome Silver 2 and Intake, Super Fine Silver 2. I thin it 1:1 with Mr Levelling Thinner and apply with airbrush at around 20psi

    Far out thats some chunky resin. The things we do to get them low. The mock stance looks just right. I cant help but think and wonder how these wheels would look under it. Only bring them up as the yellow 1:1 on the 5 spokes in your opening post looks sweet.

    I reckon its all good Bob, the exterior chrome will break up all the green. And once the interior tub is installed it will compliment the body.

    Mock Up Monday. This is something I like to do when not wanting to start a new build but want to suss out an idea I might have for a future build. After seeing Ray aka cobraman builds of the Revell 57 Snap kit, it got me thinking about ideas for the kits I have in the stash. So it got the better of me and dug out the kit for a few wheel mocks. Bonus is its already molded in my favourite colour combo. Pity im not thinking of going with those colours. Pegasus #1121 Mini T's, liking these for the old school street machine, hot rod or Lowrider style. Pegasus #1123 Sovereigns, again would be good for the old school style's. Pegasus #1274 and #2301 Chrome T's 19'/23' combo for the more modern style. This is my favourite as id like to go custom and shave the body smooth. And this is the colour ive chosen for the 57.

    Last update for 62 Bel Air. Should have it under glass in a few days. BMF done and windows installed. Body has been waxed now. This is what I use.

    Thanks mate. Yeah, bald, glasses and grey beard LOL! How can anyone not like the bubble tops, such a cool style and design, especially the Bel Air. I think the same with black wheels the rim can get lost in the tyre and the inner fender. Appreciate the feedback on the ratio of chrome to black. Was hoping someone would back my thinking of having it just right. Can see myself using Guthmiller's tape trick more often with foil work, certainly helps having a guide line to follow when there is no defined trim edge or when you cant see the trim edge. I usually pre scribe around all the trim to help have a cut line also. I think doing both methods will make cutting and trimming the foil a bit easier.

    Good to see a progress update. tidy work on the exhaust. Many of the street car's I remember that dumped straight out the box's had that sweet sounding lumpy cam deep rumble.

    Yep, liking those wheels Tom, are they the Pegasus Mini T's ? Are you going to stance with some rake or level it out ? either way its going to be a great looking old school Lowrider.

    Good to see a progress update Steve, wise selections with colour separation on the components. Pre foil on the intake manifold turned out good, its a very effective technique for sure. Judging by the test spoon, its going to look sweet that colour.

    Seen the title with Impala and Lowrider, so you have my attention. Liking the inspiration pic, the TS-59 is a very close match for the colour. Going curside will allow you to get it super low. Look forward to seeing a mock with the white walls and Cragars

    Very clean build. Certainly gets your attention painted the TS-52, cant say ive seen one of these kits painted that color. Amazing how different those wheels look painted silver, compared to usual black. Well done.

    When applying BMF to some small details, like those star's. Pre foil would be the go especially with the latest batch of BMF. Apply a piece of foil that would cover all three at once, then cut a some what rectangle shape around them as close as possible to the tips. Then paint over. Once the paint is dry dip a tooth pick or cue tip in some thinners and scrap the paint off. Brrrrrrrrrrr, I feel for ya dealing with snow and those temps. My operating temp is 77 and up LOL! thankfully it never snows where I live.

    Always interesting to see how you problem solve, with materials, tools and techniques. And then keep it looking very scale accurate.

    Didnt quite get all the foil work done today. Lower rear window trim is tricky, no edge to follow when cutting the foil. So used Guthmiller's technique using masking tape as a cutting guide. But I put the tape down first then put the BMF over the tape. Cut a thin strip of tape and layed it down following the shape. BMF applied over the tape. Its a great technique that works very well and is super helpful. 10-15 years ago I could have free hand cut the foil. No way I could do that now a days. Just need to do the side trim BMF, dont think I will do the trim on the rear tail panel . Like the clean look it has now. There is enough chrome with the tail light trim rings to break up the black I think.

    No worries Bob, sometimes its all about experimenting trying different techniques each time you use the Tamiya spray paint. Eventually you will become familiar with how to apply it just right. Practice, practice.

    Another great looking build of this kit Ray, the colours you chose are a nice combo. Well done. You have pretty much influenced and inspired me with your builds, I will dig my kit out tomorrow for a suss.

    I cant help but look past the said issue's, the body shape of this particular kit is what appeals to me. So look forward to following with your build.

    Yep same as Bob, really like the 55 Bel Air. Amt kit builds up alright too. Sounds like a solid plan for a sweet looking build.

    Thanks Bil and Bob. I posted this in another topic, but here it is again for this thread. After the above pic. Had some micro orange peel, so today polished the body with Coarse and Fine using the Tamiya compound sponges, and then polished the Finish with a micro fiber polishing cloth. Rinsed with warm water to remove any left over residue and to remove static. No clear, no wax. Just Tamiya TS-14 Black, polished with the compounds. BMF tomorrow.

    I very rarely get heavy textured orange peel, but I do every now and then get micro orange peel. Which I deal with in the same way as Roger but I dont wet sand, just use the Tamiya compounds. When polishing with the Coarse and Fine I use the Tamiya compound sponges, much more control using them and are like block sanding but with compounds. Then switch to a micro fiber to polish with the Finish. Then finally rinse under warm water to remove any left over residue in door gaps etc and to remove any static. Sponges are washed out with dish washing detergent after each use, so they are reusable. The 62 Bel Air im working at the moment has been 3 staged with the compounds, no wax has been applied yet.

    Agree with everyone else that the paint job is an eye catcher. Looks amazing in the sunlight with the pearl shimmering. Well done.
