  1. Dug out all my stalled wip that dont have a thread to asses which ones I might be interested and motivated to bring to the work bench and maybe put the time in to get completed. Thinking I will work on this one first.
  2. Great build of simple kit, you have a very clean build style. Well done.
  3. Good to see some of your new builds, simple clean build and very well detailed.
  4. As always super clean build, cant say ive seen a yellow R34 before. Its different for sure, I like it.
  5. Thanks Chris. Good to know you have found some information that might be helpful with your build. I need to get back to this one day and get it completed.
  6. Started this kit back in 2013 but it stalled out and I lost interest. But decided earlier this year it will get completed. For more details. Here is the WIP thread This build is a tribute to Richard Manson, aka Ramfins59 for his love of cars from the 50's.
  7. Teaser pic to show its complete, photo shoot and under glass tomorrow.
  8. The colour will go well with all the chrome and trim.
  9. Paint looks good from where im sitting Bob, I can see the pearl effect on the top of the wheel tubs in the lighting reflection.
  10. Thanks Pat, David and Bob. For body's ive always preferred the TS-14 Black from the spray can. But it can decanted and if applied just right it will come out just as good. Tamiya TS-49 bright red.
  11. Thanks Chris. Last WIP update, interior complete. Will be Under Glass in couple days.
  12. Thankfully got the last of the BMF done, applied New Improved to the trim on the interior door panels. Applied this flat clear the red section, then removed it from the trim using a small Tamiya cue tip moistened with levelling thinner. And for the chrome on the winder and handle used this paint marker, pumped a small amount into a mini paint tray and applied with a fine brush. Just need to detail the dash and then the interior can be assembled.
  13. Appreciate the comments thank you. Its workable and achievable with the Chrome version, I found a need to be more patient to get it in place and trimmed. And yeah have a few spare fresh blades on standby. Yeah ive read about the Matte, seems to be a solution. When I run out of New Improved and Chrome I will see if any is available in Australia. Challenging, but worth while. Once the remaining exterior parts are attached should bring it all together and hope its resembles a 1:1.
  14. Clean and tidy, looks good. Sometimes plain jane is the go, keeps it simple and continues the build moving along.
  15. Agree, all of this gentleman's builds are super clean and very precise.
  16. Looks great already in the mock up. As already mentioned by others excellent wheel choice, very fitting for the build style you have chosen. Whats the plan for a colour ?? Great kit that one, builds up super nice.
  17. Paint job looks great Bob, good idea with the colour selection.
  18. Been dreading getting to the BMF, havent foiled for ages. And after reading the issues many people had with the latest Chrome version of BMF, I thought why not give that a try to see what the issue was.......... Got set up and spent about 8hrs applying the BMF. I will say it is possible to get the latest Chrome version applied and I managed ok I guess. But man it is challenging to work with. I found you have to burnish way more than the New Improved. Also seems take a bit more pressure to cut. Can easily be moved out of place, it adheres but not a strong hold. Its definitely made from a different softer alloy, after cutting the cut edge is slightly raised, use to be able to burnish that down. It dulls the blade, normally I can do a whole car with one blade this did take two. And finally it leaves a lot of adhesive residue behind. Thats what I encountered. It does the job, but no where near as good as New Improved. Better than nothing I suppose and will take a few builds to get use to. Placed the quarter moldings on for a quick suss. And couldnt resist putting the body on the chassis for a mock. Certainly not my best BMF job, but thats what I get for using the Chrome version and being out of practice. Well thats my excuse anyways. Would really like to see Peteski tackle a 57 Chevy Bel air with the latest batch of BMF ?
  19. You are lucky to have the hobby to keep you occupied whilst you recover from surgery. Sometimes with builds they can be about just trying idea's or going with what is of interest at the time. So many ways to find enjoyment with kits. Doesnt take much to lower this kit, raise the spindle on the front and cut the springs in the rear. Drilling the valve covers was a bit nerve racking, the grooves help to locate the drill and if you drill in from each side it will make it easier to get accurate clean holes. I used .5mm kynar wrapping wire for the plug leads. Pre assembly and test fitting is a good idea to become familiar with how the kit goes together and see if there is any fit issue's. Thanks for your interest and kind words.
  20. Thanks Steve. Yeah the engine could be transplanted into a wide variety of subjects. Air filter was painted with Mr Finishing Surfacer 1500 black and this Vallejo colour.
  21. Great line up of builds, certainly a very productive 3 months for you. Like the style of all them using the Pegasus wheels. Well done Keith, keep at it and look forward to seeing what you build next and into the future.
  22. The alcohol in the Tamiya acrylic paint will eat into the Alclad. Best to go with craft paint like the Apple Barrel, think I used Plaid. Thin it down enough so that it will help flow into the crevices. Do some experimenting to work out the ratio.
  23. I painted the grill on this Buick with Alclad Chrome and used cheap acrylic craft paint(thinned with water) for the black wash. And used a cue tip soaked in water for clean up. Learnt the technique from John Teresi.
  24. Got a few more things done. Attached the chassis frame to the floor pan. Flat clear applied to the seats. Got out the masking putty again and done the interior door panel's. Airbrush some decanted Tamiya TS-14 black Unmasked.
  25. Thanks, used Alclad chrome. I tend to put it on too heavy as I dont like the splotchy look when applied lightly. So it does lose some of the mirror reflectiveness, but thats ok still looks the part to me.
