  1. Yeah can see where you are coming from. Some parts would be quicker and simpler to scratch build. Thats the benefit of being an all rounder like yourself you can pick and choose what skills to use where and when.
  2. Excellent re working of a kit to suit your vision.
  3. So cool seeing the 3D tech being incorporated into builds, possibilities are endless.
  4. Good job on the paint recovery, fingers crossed the clear works out for you.
  5. Pretty cool idea, something different other than the usual Ecto or hearse. Sometimes the ideas cant wait and need to stray from other builds to suss out fresh idea's. Happens to me all the time LOL!
  6. Done a bit of rough body work, flattened the hood and removed the rockets and also flattened the entire side trim. Then wet sanded everything from 600-2500 with Infini sanding sponge. And applied another coat of 1500 gray surfacer. Im hoping one more round of wet sanding to tidy up the rough spots where I got lazy, another coat of 1500 surfacer, a final round of wet sanding and should be good for paint. Thats a spot of 500 surfacer on the headlight surround, chasing a pinhole thats giving me grief. Also a few other spots of 500 here and there but not as noticeable as that one
  7. Was liking the blue in the wip thread, but the change to this colour combo does get ones attention and so does that engine. Done well.
  8. Can relate to collecting more than building. But thats half the fun when passionate about this hobby. Liking your approach to getting back into building and what you have on the bench. Look forward to seeing more of the Supra and Silvia, like what you have going on with them so far.
  9. Still as impressive as the first time I seen it all painted and assembled. The weathering is my favourite part looks very realistic.
  10. Got out the Pen sander to make short work of removing the quarter panel trim. Used a couple different sanding heads and self adhesive 240 grit. Also pre scribed around some of the trim, deepened the door, trunk and hood lines. Quick rough sand up to 600 then put on a coat of 1500 gray surfacer to see what else needs work. Not bad for the first lazy go around.
  11. Thanks David, wont been seen once its on the shelf. So didnt have to do anything fancy, just kept it simple to serve it's purpose.
  12. Got the stance set on the 57 Bel Air. Lot of cutting and mods to the undercarriage to get it to set so low with the Pegasus 19' and 23' wheels. Oob Chassis. Very limited how much it could be lowered with the wheels I chose to use. So out with the Dremel and sanding drum. It all had to go. Started of with a masking tape template of the floor pan and re built from there. Sometimes you got to do what ever it takes to get them slammed. Stance matters.
  13. High ride..........mmm.... if it was to be riding high , would be Donk style for sure. If I had two kits, would do one as a Donk. These are the wheels.
  14. Well bit disappointed, going to put the Mercury Comet back in the stash. My kit is missing the grill. Contacted Moebius, awaiting a reply, but even then USPS has stopped shipping to Australia. ☚ī¸
  15. From sprue frames/trees, this topic has some good examples.
  16. Sorry Jason no updates, thanks for the interest. Still on the bench. Should make it back into rotation after I finish up another build first.
  17. Excellent tutorial, thanks for taking the time share the process.
  18. Stance looks spot on mate. That 1500 black surfacer sure does lay down super smooth. Whats the plan for colour ??
  19. Very impressive detail painting on the under carriage.
  20. 1500 gray surfacer applied, going to let it sit for a week.
  21. Nice one Jim, all the extra details up the realism. Like the tail lights on the rear fender. Its great to see someone building the RM chopper kits, they are very enjoyable to build and customize.
  22. Thanks Martin, knew the Lowrider builds would get your attention. Here is another pic trying out a different arrangement.
  23. Messing around setting the stance on the 76 Glasshouse. Got it to the roller stage. One good thing about the old metal axle kits, its super easy to lower the ride height. Oob stance. Stock axle locations. Front Rear. For the front the new axle hole locations, 2mm above stock for lowered. 2.5mm below stock for raised. New axles made from 2mm brass rod. Rear. New axle location 3mm above stock to lower. Looking much better now. Raised front. The inspiration.
  24. LOL! could also build this version. Think I will stick with my plan of doing a Lowrider style. With the size of the kit stash, aftermarket products, paint and supplies I could open a small hobby shop.
