I'm torn, I prefer period-correct modifications, but I also like pro-touring. One thing that can be forgiven are modern parts that add to driveability and safety such as fuel injected egines that start and run everytime and disc brakes that stop everytime.

For me it is both nostalgia and an outlet for creativity. If I had the money and skills I would be building the same things except with 1 to 1 cars.

I have been wanting to build a couple of '32 Ford pickups, one stock and one hot rodded. I know that the Lindberg kit is not well detailed, but can the cab and bed be used with the Revell '32 Coupe or maybe the '34 pickup to get what I want? Any opinions?

Ralph Nader saw an opportunity for publicity and rode it into a career, for better or worse. Bad press aside, if any one thing can be said to have killed the Corvair, I think it would be the difference in platforms. The Chevy II, Falcon and Dart among others made the Corvair redundant. At the time GM, Ford and the others basically built front engine rwd cars. Compact or full size, the general layouts were basically the same which meant shared parts across several product lines, which in turn meant greater profits. The Corvair was essentially a standalone product requiring many unique parts which economy of scale couldn't justify. The Corvair was an attempt to copy VW, down to its suspension. Regarding its handling, in one of my dad's old Road and Track magazines of the time, I remember reading that a swaybar that would have cost very little at the time would have stopped the dreaded "tuck-under" which caused many accidents in Corvairs, VW's, Porsches and Triumph Spitfires.

Is Chimneyville still around? I built a BFC (Barney Fife Car) years ago using a MOdelhaus '63 Ford 4 door and C-ville's Mayberry Sheriff decals.I think they also used to carry an Andy figure too. Oh and a long whip antenna made from guitar string.

I saw a silver 2015 Mustang with Michigan manufacturer plates driving in North Austin today... Good looking car. Also while picking up my kid at school, someone was picking their kid in a Lamborghini.

As a child I learned that they will melt in a closed car while sitting on the dash.... :-(

I recently read that Tesla was originally considering calling their car the Model T. T in that case being for Tesla and Ford jumped all over them. So they called it the Model S.

We moved to Austin in May. Going from a house with garage to a small apartment means it will be a good long while until I am in a position to build anything so I thought I would share this idea with you guys. Confession time; I have a soft spot, possibly in my head, for the old crappy multi-piece Lindberg and Palmer kits of the 60's and 70's. In my defense, my love for them is tied in with memories of my grandma's five and dime store rather than the kits themselves. She always had those kits on the shelf and would give me one to keep me quiet. My uncle also would build them and give them to me. I don't have any of them anymore, but would buy and build some if I came across them. Does anyone have any of these that they have built or are they mostly curiosities now that are put on a shelf for the box art?

Could be the market is bigger. I wish that if nothing else the diecast makers would do like Revell and release their stuff in plastic too. There is so much cool stuff out there.

Is the body from the Monogram 37 Ford flatback or is that a resin body? Sounds like a great project!

After going through various online catalogs I am left with one question. Why is there such variety in diecast 1/24 model companies? Is it simply that the detail and subsequent development cost is less so they can produce more products? I bought a 1940 Plymouth pickup and have seen many other obscure vehicles that I would love to see as kits, detailed or curbside.
