First, I apologize for putting these in the wrong category, they should have gone into the Trucks section. Second thanks for the compliments. The red and white one is a Modelhaus kit. The black one started out as an Ebay special. The bed section wasn't in very good condition and I prefer stepsides anyway, so I cut it off and used the 53 Ford bed and various other parts.

I have been following this site for a long time and wanted to put some of my builds out for everyone to see. I used an iPhone, so forgive the quality.

Very cool! It looks like it should be in a Quentin Tarantino movie.

I have been wanting to share a few of my builds for a while and couldn't until the new format came into effect. Forgive the quality and background they were shot on the fly in the backyard with an iPhone.

Love it... Great subject, great model!

I grew on the Texas coast, so I remember the older guys driving around with the back jacked up with wide tires and mags on the back and stock wheels and hubcaps on the front. And being in a rust prone area, there were the obligatory spray can primer spots and Bondo. And the JC Whitney mail order or local Western Auto chrome parts.

stock bantam
oldcarfan replied to bobthehobbyguy's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Great pictures.I like to uild pairs when I can, so I bought two of the Monogram '40 Ford pickups. I converted one of them back to stock using the parts from an AMT '40 Ford car. Not 100% correct, but close enough for me. Sorry, guys, wrong photo, guess I don't have one of '40s. -

These are cool. I would love to see conversion kits to build one of these in a stock form. For that matter, it would be neat to have one for the Henry J, the Topolino and the other drag kits. -
1965 Ford Falcon Ranchero (Trumpeter 1:25)

I wonder if the Monogram 1/24 64 Mustang or the 1/25 Amt 67 Mustang would offer a better chassis or parts for this kit? -
We need a '27 Tee Roadster in plastic.

I would soooooo like a 2n1 stock and hot rod version, however even just a body would be great. I really love that body style. -
Other than severely cut fingers, my only real mishap was at the age of 12 or so. I had gotten an MPC Vega kit from my parents and did a really good job on it, at least in my opinion. Anyway I was so proud of it that I took it with me when my mom went grocery shopping. I put it on the dash. I had painted it black, it was Texas, it was summer and the windows were closed. You can guess the rest.

Blue Bandito resin stuff?
oldcarfan replied to cooltoys1's topic in Truck Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
I could be wrong, but didn't Monogram's other Model A kits.. have the same chassis? If so you might be ale to mix and match. -
Let me be the first to say, good job!

Bonneville Class Guidance?
oldcarfan replied to oldcarfan's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I can't post pics, but here is a link to a built-up Typhoon model. http://www.silentthundermodels.com/ship_models2/russian_typhoon.html . If you take away the tower and the fins, you are left with a pretty good shell about 9 inches long. Plus the models are cheap to experiment on! -
Bonneville Class Guidance?
oldcarfan replied to oldcarfan's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Correction; The Kursk I bought is actually the 1/700 scale Typhoon sold by HobbyBoss, not 1/350th. These subs are essentially two submarines linked side by side so the hull is wider than it is tall. I think it will just hold a VW or Corvair engine. Incidentally, there are several 1/350 scale subs made by HobbyBoss that make pretty decent tank bodies if you shorten the length a bit. Their LA class and the Soviet Alfa come to mind. They can be found at most hobby stores for $10-15. I would post a pic, but I still can't seem to conquer that technology! -
Bonneville Class Guidance?

Thanks for the help. I found a 1/350th scale Kursk submarine and decided it would make a cool 1/25 lakester with a boxer engine. -
I want to build a VW flat four powered Lakester. Anyone know what class such a thing might run in? There used to be an online page that had the specs, But I lost all my favorites when I got a new laptop. Help? Anyone?

Is this kit back in production? I love what you are doing!

Resto-Mods & Modern Hot Rods
oldcarfan replied to afx's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I'm torn, I prefer period-correct modifications, but I also like pro-touring. One thing that can be forgiven are modern parts that add to driveability and safety such as fuel injected egines that start and run everytime and disc brakes that stop everytime.
