  1. Welp, things went sideways on my build. I was working on my build in the shop and had to come into the house for something. Absentmindedly, I brought the body with me and set it on the kitchen counter. Coming back, I couldn't find it. After a few minutes of wondering if I'd lost my mind, I noticed Fia the cat sitting nearby looking pleased with herself. Searching some more I found the Golf in the backyard in the pictured condition. Evidence in hand, my theory is that Fia knocked it off on the floor and Bernie grabbed it and took it outside for chomping. The suspects claim to have alibis, but they are shaky. Lesson learned, never trust a cat on the counter and a Corgi puppy. Luckily, I have the AMT Rabbit kit which is a reissue of the ESCI kit, but it's definitely knocked me for a loop. Now if I have enough Go Mango paint left. In trying to make the best of the situation, I just now ordered the VW Caddy pickup conversion kit from Hiroboy. Should have it in a couple weeks and I'll try to use it with the leftover part from the second Golf kit.
  2. I love what you did with this kit! Revell really did a good job on these kits. The tuner parts are a little over the top for these days, but they sure looked good back when things were fast and furious.
  3. Small progress is still progress, so I did some parts prep getting off flash and I've been doing some research into the 70s tech and looking at how Porsche and others were experimenting with turbocharging and intercooling. Looks like the Polar Vortex is paying a visit so it'll be interesting to see if my new shop heater is up to the task.
  4. My oldest builds from around 1994 or so. I bought a six NASCAR kits from a Kaybee Toys that was clearing out and built them in series. I got bored and bought JNJ decals to switch things up. These are the only ones to survive and I'm kind of proud of them.
  5. It's a nice change of pace to see a non-Trans Am Firebird. It would be nice to see Round 2 rerelease the MPC Trans Am as a Formula and maybe even as a flat hood base model.
  6. Some are, but most I've seen are pretty much unassembled promos. Just judging from this GT90 and from the recent AMT Chevy truck, they are simple but look accurate.
  7. A couple of freebies today. They were in a junk pile. The boxes have been wet and the parts will need to be washed, but it looks like everything is there. What's funny is last year I wanted to buy a GT90 but gave up because eBay was too expensive.
  8. Saw a Kia Amanti today for the first time in a long time in traffic and then at a store. This one was spotless, no dents, and the paint and interior looked brand new. Not a car you see very often anymore. Just proof that rarity doesn't always equal high prices.
  9. This is the start of my 2025 Cannonball entry. I'm using an old ESCI Golf Rally kit that I got from a now closed hobby shop. Just an FYI, it seems this is the same kit that was released by AMT a few years back. When I opened the box, it seems I had painted it gray and then put it back in the box. The paint was smooth but cracked so I polished it a couple weeks ago. I've been sick for two weeks now with something that isn't COVID, but won't go away. Anyway, today I pulled out the last can of Model Master Go Mango that hasn't sprung a leak on the bottom. It went on nicely, and I so wish Testor's would get their act straight and reintroduce their Model Master line! With the body painted, I won't be quite so tied to the weather so maybe I can get started on the engine.
  10. I made a start today. This morning I got some paint on the entry. I used the last of a can of Model Master Go Mango as it resembles a real color offered by Volkswagen back in the day. We should have temperatures in the 50s the rest of the week so I'll try to do a bit more before the weather cools again this weekend.
  11. Hope it helps, I had the same problem
  12. There is a niche to be filled since Testor's is abandoning the market. I'd love to see Revell step in and introduce a line of proper auto colors and gloss coats in spray and bottles in a plastic friendly lacquer or acrylic.
  13. If it helps, this is the post I found and it seems to be what I was looking for.
  14. And Revell has a Jaguar XKE on the shelves just waiting to donate it's suspension!
  15. I love they are able to rerelease these kits. There's a lot of nostalgia tied up in that tooling. I doubt they'll reach the point where they are able to do their own tooling for new releases, but who knows?
  16. Nevermind, I changed the search terms and found my answer. Delete if you would.
  17. How do you embed pictures within text? I seem to have forgotten how to do it and I think there used to be a tutorial but I can't find it. Any help appreciated.
  18. You have done an amazing job on this rough kit! It seems like all the Monogram kits from the 80s are hi-riders. I built one of the Diablos back in the day and it looked like it was set up for mud bogging. How did you get the stance so close?
  19. I love the MPC Camaro kit especially the widebody IMSA release, but this redo of the Monogram kit looks pretty sweet. I can't wait for it to hit the shelf. Glad to see they filled in the T-top as I never had much luck filling them in.
  20. Love to see these! It's about time for those IMSA Mustangs to make another release.
  21. Nice build, those Monogram Exotic kits really turn out nice and your's is exceptional. I wonder who owns the tools for that series? Maybe Atlantis of Revell can rerelease them.
