What did you see on the road today?

If anyone is looking for a conversion idea for this kit, you might google the Ford B-100, a Mexican SUV version.
-
I recently found a box of old unassembled kits from the 90s and found a few of the issue with the camper shell and the one with the dually wheels. I also found several of the 90s F-150 kits as well. I'll buy a few of the new issue anyway because I like to encourage the kit manufacturers to keep on with the issues, but don't really need them. Anyway, I've started making plans for future projects.

Great, another kit from my youth that I'll have to buy! Honestly, I'll be fine if it's a curbside. My patience and eyesight are both at the point that I'm happy if my builds look good just sitting on the shelf.

It's nice to see some kits I really want to buy. The Supra is a for sure purchase, I'll probably get several. The Monte Carlo is another, mostly because of the Honda and the trailer. My son bought a Honda Bobber a couple years ago when he turned 18 and Mom could no longer veto his plan. Luckily for her it turned out to be more of a project than he realized and so he traded it for an old Dodge Dakota. I'm thinking I can modify the Honda to look like his bike. The Mustang will be another one to get a few copies of. I recently found the 1994 unassembled promo kit version I built back in the day. It'll be fun to do another.

What would YOU like to see as a model
oldcarfan replied to JeroenM3's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I love muscle cars, but they've been pretty well covered over the years. If anything, how about the less common cars? Falcons, Mavericks, Mustang coupes, and maybe a new Javelin kit would be nice. For muscle cars, two door sedan versions of the Roadrunner, Chevelle and such would be a nice alternative. I'd also love to see more exotic and tuner kits, or at least tuner parts for regular kits. Something along the line of the Liberty Walk cars, or the RWB Porsches. Maybe tuner parts that could fit any kit with a little work, such as low profile tires and wheels, flares and spoilers and such. Another area would be Ford Transit and Mercedes Benz Sprinter. You could offer them in commercial livery, and then do Overlanding versions, too. How about versions with big tires and wheels, roof racks with ladders, kayaks and other roof cargo, bull bars for the front and lots of lights? -
I've been wanting to order some Porsche decals from Patto's and wanted to know if there are pictures of the products? How do you order? It seems to be a confusing site.

I'm looking forward to this build. I had this kit as a kid and gave up on it when I broke many pieces. I have a reissue that I'll be getting to, 'one of these days' which means I have no idea when it'll get built. Anyway, looks like a good start.

There was also a placeholder for one I didn't know was coming, the 1937 Ford truck reissued with surfboards? That could be interesting!
-
Probably a misprint.
-
They don't have much variety, but at least there's some new stuff coming. I went by today and got two of the new AMT 1978 Bronco release and they had the Sunoco 1934 Ford truck out as well. I noticed they had labels on the empty shelves, but the only ones that caught my eye were the 1970 Olds 442 and the Revell Porsche 911 Coupe. The Porsche is one I'll buy many 40% off copies of to put in my Porsche pile.

Something interesting to me was this Toyota Hilux with Mexico plates. I actually prefer this truck to the American Tacoma. Photographed today at a Walmart here in central Texas. -
Old AMT model kits... why not to reissue those?
oldcarfan replied to Drago's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I've been wondering about that. I have no idea about 3D printing, but if they could turn out parts with it that were about the same cost or cheaper as doing them the old way, that would open up some really cool versions and would allow them to respond quickly to market demands. -
Great build! I didn't know anyone made this model.

Old AMT model kits... why not to reissue those?
oldcarfan replied to Drago's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
My suggestion for AMT would be to leverage the kits they have, such as the Ford Pinto and the MPC Pinto Wagon or the Caprice. They could invest in backdating the tooling or create a new version based on the current tooling. I would buy many copies of a 1971 Pinto or Vega. As they were popular in the SCCA, they could even add some Minilites, racing tires, a simple roll cage and some period decals for another version. As for the MPC vans, how about recreating the early issues of the Dodge and Chevy vans? Maybe add the high top for the Chevy and add window van versions along with the extra seats and such. The Dodge pickup could be changed with a new grille and hood. Also how about versions of the Trans Am? With a little new tooling they could have a 1976 version, then they could do a flat hood and remove the side vents and do a base model 'Rockford' Firebird. All these things would be (relatively) inexpensive to do and give them new variations to sell. -

It's been a while, but didn't he do a set of sports car mirrors and gas caps and stuff? -
I'd love to have the Dodge van conversion but my computer won't let me access the site.

AMT 1/25 2021 Bronco First Edition
oldcarfan replied to Jordan White's topic in Truck Kit News & Reviews
I really love that this Bronco kit is coming out. Maybe it'll be a big seller and we'll get a Maverick and some other cool off roaders. My only other wish is that someone would offer a set of accessories. Maybe some steel bumpers, aftermarket tires and wheels and especially some roof racks with accessories would be cool! -
Nice! One question, is the hood scoop molded to the hood or is it a separate piece?

Porsche GT3 Road Version and Racing Version Differences?

Thanks for the input. I'll probably go ahead and buy it anyway as it's a good price.
