  1. First car I bought for myself... I pulled the engine out and put in a 350 short block Corvette motor in her. Then out of necessity I sold her. Worst thing I ever did because I miss the heck out of her.
  2. Ever since my two vintage "NASCAR" builds I've been warming up to the old 30's~40's style of car/truck. And seeing nice work like this makes it even better. Great job!
  3. They've already started asking.... I'm thinking of charging $50 ~ $75 per model (not including materials or kit purchase)... and I don't even know if that accurately factors in time built.
  4. Let's see... 1: Requires putty to even build properly.... check. 2: More flash than the Bowery in downtown Manhattan on a Saturday night..... check. 3: Poor fitment..... check. 4: "Unbuildabe"?.... Maybe not, but a definite test of a modeller's skills and patience.
  5. I've got another Rubicon planned, this on being the Snap Together kit. I'll be looking at doing a "distressed" JP Jeep (read as "raptor thrashed"), either a tour ride or some other utility vehicle. Maybe even a paddock Jeep for "raptor feeding" that got a little too close to the animals... heh heh.
  6. Thanks guys! It was a fun build to do. A little hairy with the back panel to the cab, but nothing that was too painful.
  7. WARNING! WARNING! WARNING! WARNING! WARNING! WARNING! WARNING! WARNING! WARNING! WARNING! WARNING! WARNING! Be aware that the Ballzanos.com website is now shut down, and Stephen Balzanos just refunded my money. Not sure what's happened, but apparently he's going to be doing strictly eBay sales now. Anyone who has recently ordered from the webpage and received no responses from him need to dispute their charges if they can. I payed through Paypal and was protected in my purchase.
  8. Nice. This kit was a dream to work with, and yours looks great!
  9. Just completed this for my wife who works for VDOT...
  10. The Want is STRONG with this one...
  11. I know, they already found this forum, LOL! Still need the mirrors, letting a few things dry first before putting them on. Almost done....
  12. The one thing I hate most of all.... the "spazatic focus" effect. Explained thusly, it is the Murphy-ian Law Effect imposed on a person's activity where the upmost in razor focus during a highly sensitive part of a build causes the autonomic nervous system to twitch randomly, sending a jolting shiver across the human body. This has the added effect of causing glued parts to stick to plastic window glass, wet decals to splinter into millions of pieces, thin styrene parts to snap in absolutely the worst possible unfixable areas, or especially in my case, cause the smallest of most detailed parts to fly out of my hand and disappear into "the other realm", which I have deduced is somewhere between my legs. The "spazatic focus" effect is also known by another more common name.... "Michael-J-Fox-Poltergeist Syndrome"
  13. I only have three kits that I've started and not finished, all the others I have completed or never started. All three halted kits have one or two things that went wrong and stopped me cold in my tracks, so I put them away for later sorting out. I'm pretty meticulous about finishing my builds.
  14. Yup, and probably a case where I can put a background in and something close to asphalt pavement.
  15. No need for apologies, it's all good!

    Tamiya Supra

I love my Supras... Which kit is this?
  17. No, no... that's Tamiya Orange I'm using for this build. But Krylon Pumpkin is a match for "safety orange" and what I should have been using in the beginning. I didn't know that beforehand so I ended up having to use Tamiya Orange as my color. Like I said, it's not bad at all, but I'm sure the Krylon paint would have looked much better.
  18. Thanks! It was all Tamiya Orange. I wanted a safety orange acrylic paint and this was relatively close, although since I started building this I found Krylon Pumpkin which matches that color perfectly. Ohh well, this one's not too shabby, LOL!
  19. Next set of pics for today.... Leaving the rollbar white.... Tailgate installed....
  20. Tamiya clear spray paints are supposd to go over metallic paints and give it the tinge of that color, so spraying Clear Red over Silver Leaf would produce something like a candy color effect (candy-apple red). Get yourself some plastic spoons, spray them with various metal paints, then spray Clear Red on them to see what it comes out as. Obviously, more coats means a deeper color, and the same acrylic spray paint rules apply here (use misting/dusting coats only, don't wet spray or paint will run badly, etc...). EDIT: WHOOPS! This is for Testors paints, not Tamiya. Have NO IDEA if this would apply the same here. Confirm this before doing what I told you to do!
  21. LOL! I know. I had thought about painting them white but I decided to just make them as close to bare metal as I could get so it wouldn't have the chrome glitter to them. I sprayed a combination of Tamiya Bare Metal Silver (AS-12) and Light Gunmetal to get the glare out, then left them without a clearcoat.
  22. Yup, with a blue borderline. I just borrowed a logo pic to illustrate what it will look like on the side of the truck. Here's one on a white truck...
