  1. I printed off a few of these in my last batch of decals just for this purpose....
  2. My wife wanted a model to display in her office at LAD (Land Area Development) at Virgnia DOT, so I decided to do up the Revell snow plow kit as a worktruck for her... Light bar from the Chevy Rescue kit... Parts bin air cleaner, carb, and proper intake manifold... Coming along pretty quickly.... More to come.
  3. Awesome. Now on my list of must-buys. Thanks guys!
  4. Has anyone ever compiled a relatively complete searchable spreadsheet, book, document, database, etc..., on model kits based on genre, kit manufacturer, car make/model/year, etc..., in the hopes of research? I know there are several models of musclecars that may not have seen the styrene treatment or may have only ever been released once in all the years of the hobby, and it would really help those of us who are looking for MIA years, specific releases, etc. I know there are several old timers here that could rifle off every Johan model ever made. or how many different versions of '69 Dodge Charger out there in the wild NON Dukes (LOL because it's such a touchy subject around here!), but for those of us that are either relatively new to the hobby or don't have the cataloging skills, it would really help the community out tremendously. Even if only to help locate that one elusive model year car you've always wanted to build but never knew it was produced.
  5. Ohh, without a doubt. I've bought quite a few of his sets and never had a complaint about any of them. But having another nicely tooled RR kit works as well.
  6. Anyone else think that humidity may also be a cause for concern? I tried some a week ago from a recently bought sheet, and I had the same problems I did on the 4 year sheet, and it was more humid than it had been in recent months. I work in a florida room with a vent hose for my paint hood, and it's been humid in here as well.
  7. Looks like I'm going to get a metal tin edition in the immediate future as well then. The Ballzanos kit is the Daisy reissue, but I like the idea of extra correct decals.
  8. Dude.... this car is SICK.... I was wondering how a black Daytona would look, and whether I would paint the fin or not. I have inspiration now. Thank you.
  9. Thanks everyone! Yeah, I learned that when I built the companion racecar to Yelinek's "Sparrow" as the 40's Ford had the same type of suspension. Live and learn... And now... paired up with Henry's "Sparrow".... This is the Lindberg kit. I stole the large flathead air cleaner setup from this very kit to make the Sparrow engine and still built a not-too-shabby racer out of the rest.
  10. Huh? Not for me.... I only paid $8 for two model kits to the same address. I've paid FAR WORSE in shipping before....
  11. Best way to answer this question is to go to these two sections: http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showforum=8 http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showforum=4 And do a search for "paint booth". There are multiple threads in there for paint booths, pros and cons of building your own, the dangers of using them, etc... The most important thing about paint booths is working with one that has a brushless motor for the fan vent. The brushes in a motor cause static electricity that can combust flammable gases that come from spray cans and airbrushes. You will also need to consider HOW your paint hood will vent the fumes out of your work area. You don't want to use one and not have suitable air circulation in the immediate area, as this can cause asphyxiation, light headedness, and the obvious buildup of volatile vapors that can explode. Usually a dryer hose through an open window and a good brushless fan with filters will do the trick nicely, provided there aren't too many bends in the piping.
  12. Another classic show car from my youth done right. Nice!
  13. Yeah... there's not much more I can say that hasn't already been said here, except I could SWIM in that blue colored ocean you painted that car with. Incredible.
  14. This build NEEDS a hookah! Very cool!
  15. There is soooo much beauty in those pics. Just..... WOW.
  16. Not a very accurate piece. Head is located incorrectly, needs to be swapped with posterior.
  17. Awesome. I've already got the RR kit coming from Ballzanos ($15.00 plus shipping) along with the Monaco kit (also $15), so now I just need to find a cheap '71 Charger kit and contact Keith Marks for some decent decals. I was just "sticker shocked" by the price I kept seeing for this kit which I still thought of as new. Amazing what happens to a price when a kit becomes "RARE" or "OUT OF PRINT" or "DISCONTINUED". I know it's just like everything else we buy on FleaBay, but still gets to me.
  18. Ok. The MPC rereleases of all the Dukes vehicles have been out there for some time now, and you can't walk into a Hobby Lobby, Hobbytown, or Wal-Mart without seeing a few of these kits. At least, that's the way it WAS. Now for some reason the Road Runner has all but disappeared from shelves, and the MPC repop tin out there is up to $60+ in price! I understand Daisy's car is now discontinued, but that is a major skyrocket in price, like a $45 jump from the average $15. Is there something I'm missing? Or is it because JUST NOW I decide to try and pick one up, only to realize there's few left out there? Roscoe's Monaco, on the other hand, is slowly starting to dry up at the hobby stores, but is still readily available online. I just found both at Ballzanos.com and took care of my problem that way, but it's astonishing how fast a kit can get marked up like that. Ohh well....
  19. Subscribed. The '71~'73 Stangs have always been on my list of must-builds, but I never knew what the problems/pitfalls were for these kits so I steered clear of them. This thread definitely answered my questions. Thanks guys!
  20. So pretty....
  21. Things I to do in the immediate future... 1: Get a VW Baja 2: Build it Another one of my "must haves", and the idea of merging with the "Love Bug" is killer! Great job!
  22. I've got this weird craving now for a candy apple. Wonder why? Beautiful shine!!
  23. I love "plain Jane" Chargers. You almost never see those anymore. Awesome Mopar work!!!!
  24. Just finished this one.... Items different from the kit: 1: Self-printed decals - all "JP" decals came from pictures on the web. 2: Spot lamps - dug out of parts bin. 3: CB radio/Firestik II - parts bin. 4: Seat belts - cloth ribbon and PE. 5: Medikit - balsa wood glued together with sheet styrene, then painted blue with medical logo decal. 6: Jerry can - from another Jeep model kit. A nice kit overall, but it really shines when the builder takes the time to add detailed items to it. I even thought about making my own "Hi-Lift" offroad jack and plate attachment to it, but decided to keep it like this. Thanks for looking!
