Ahh... ohh well. Might still try to build one.
-
It's coming.... and you'll want to do one up too..... C'mon, Uncle Jesse!!!! Now all we need is the right reissue of a certain wrecker and CJ and we're all set!
-
I know... and the flip front hood makes it even more awesome. Now I've got all new ideas on what to try this on.

DOH Charger snap kit repurposed...

Yeah... that car is SICK. That formula hood would be a serious money maker on the resin market. Outstanding stuff!!!!

Please post pics of builds you painted with any hobby-type gold*
Drake69 replied to Monty's topic in Model Cars
I know you don't care for Inca Gold, but if done the way I did it then it can look more natural. I sprayed Inca Gold on Tamiya Flat Black base and my El Camino came out this way... I think it gives the gold a chance to dim down a bit in brightness and not so brilliant like when it comes out of the can. My 2 cents. -
Wow! I fuss when I BMF window trim! Excellent work!

I think I beat you by 6 minutes on that...

There's an old joke that I fall back on when I come across something that I think I might not be able to handle...... and it's pretty apropos to this situation. "So how do you get to Carnegie Hall?" "Practice, son. Practice." When I got back into the hobby (when I built my '84 Toyota Supra, don't remember how far back exactly...), I looked at... 1: Bare Metal Foil 2: Photo-Etch 3: Decal handling 4: Clean, even layers of spray paint 5: Scratch-building 6: Customization And thought "There is no HUMAN WAY I'm ever going to figure out how to use that stuff!".... And now I try to work a little bit of everything into each new build. It's all about learning what others are doing here and trying it out... by practicing. I'm no expert, and many of my builds aren't award winners, but I'm pretty satisfied with how the majority of them turned out. And there's still more to learn. I'm still waiting for the "modelling fairy" to come visit me and delicately tap me on the back of my head with her glitter-covered ball-peen hammer and grant me the ancient wisdom of airbrushing.

Nice work!!! The dual carb setup you're looking for can be found in the AMT '57 Chrysler 300c kit. It includes the right manifold as well...

No prob! And yeah... I REALLY NEED to do another one....

2'n 1 kits good or bad?
Drake69 replied to Luc Janssens's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
No brainer... extra parts = Gud... -
I've built one, it's a pretty neat kit but still long in the tooth (kinda old). I'll post up some pics later! EDIT: Here it is... http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=45628&hl=%2Bkiss+%2Barmy I definitely want to do another with my new decal paper.

Lock knobs in door frames = AWESOME. -
When I was younger I was as much into the sponsors as I was into particular drivers. That "Hawaiian Punch" car just flipped me back to those days again. Amazing.
-
It reminds me of a Hot Wheels concept car done RIGHT. Nice work!

I SERIOUSLY need to do up a lead sled. Wow. Awesome stuff!

I really didn't think this publication still printed anymore. I haven't seen it in an LHS for over a year now.

modifying or adapting wheels
Drake69 replied to thatz4u's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Wheel backs and spindles are a necessity with swapping sets. They can be lost and forgotten in a box of spare parts, so you should make sure to keep them close to the wheels they came with. Another thing that happens is tire sets can get confusing if you keep them separate from your wheels and backs. Paring up wheel sets to tires can be just as frustrating if you can't find the right fitment, and don't forget that the backs need to fit tight and snug as well! Third thing to be mindful of is the axles they need to go onto. Pegasus wheels look great but can be a royal bear to fit onto axles that aren't metal. Shaving, drilling, and reinforcing wheels onto axles happens quite frequently, and when this happens you have to keep alignment and balance in mind. One cock-eyed sitting wheel and your model's stance teeters back and forth. Sitting them up too high or too low can also screw things up. Using a homemade jig can help with keeping your wheels aligned and balanced correctly, so do a search on how to build one. Good luck! -
Everything is upside down...

Only thing missing is fuzzy dice. Otherwise this car is BEAUTIFUL!

Thanks all! It sits high on my shelf as one of my favorites, and I plan on building another more like an actual drag car as soon as I get some good Fred Cady or Keith Marks decals for it. Appreciate it!
