  1. Part pulled out of a hot mold too soon, maybe? I've often wondered about this myself...
  2. "Weird" for me.... never done one like this before...
  3. My first character/monster model. This should prove interesting since I'm going WAY out of my comfort zone on this one.
  4. I am still furious over this....
  5. Some interesting notes on those kammback kits. The chassis on each kit actually match up with the 1:24 '78 Firebird 3-in-1 and the '79 Camaro 3-in-1 kits perfectly. The bumper noses for each one can also be mated up to the body and chassis with some modifying. Gut out the fake, junky bay in the Kammback and you can build it with the proper engine! And since the chassis fits correctly... The hoods may have to be messed around with, but I'm sure with a little tweaking you can use the proper hoods from the Revell kits instead of the Kammback ones... But, without modding anything, the Kammbacks can still be built decently...
  6. If all the pieces are flat black then yes, priming all the pieces will make it easier to paint other colors on them. Priming will help with paint adhesion, plastic flash cleanup, and mold imperfections, so as a rule of thumb it probably should always be done at the outset, no matter what color it's molded in. The reasons most people DON'T prime their parts... 1: don't want to waste money on good primer unless it's for the main body or interior... 2: don't want to waste the time priming parts, just wanting to build the model quickly/simply... 3: too lazy to do it (usually MY excuse...) Hope this helps.
  7. Just completed! SS badging from the Monte Carlo SS kit... (hard to see) Trim - Gloss Black, Body - Inca Gold, Top - Black Vinyl... Hood stripes - '69 Camaro... "CHEVROLET" lettering - Chevy Pickup kit....
  8. Thanks everyone! The chrome in this kit is actually pretty decent and evenly put on. It's not blobby or shallow at all and looks good, if not too shiny. I plan on blackwashing the bumpers some to tinge them down more so they won't blind everyone looking at them for long periods of time.
  9. Thanks! Had to paint the trim, I haven't picked up some new BMF yet. Trim is done... Already have front and back glass in and drying, along with the rear view mirror (no pix...). Will be doing body assembly and final touches like engine bay and grills tomorrow (later today!). (NOTE: second pic shows the only BMF I had left trying to come off. Looks like I'll have to peel that junk off and paint that too. Grrr....)
  10. Ready for a Saturday night cruise. Nice!
  11. The ONLY thing I see missing from this awesome build is cancer eating holes in the fenders. Other than that little thing.... incredible rust work!
  12. Excuse me while I wipe the drool off the keyboard. Wow.
  13. Sick. Sick. Sick. Sick. Sick. Sick. I LIKE THIS.
  14. Man.... I've just got to have SOMETHING to build!!!! (Pay no attention to the dresser drawers underneath... or the racks above them.... or the old toy box in the corner...)
  15. Lindy Ford.... It did take A LOT of cleanup to get her even halfway presentable (yes... and you can still see the seam on the front fenders...), but like it was said before, they make great vintage NASCAR and hot rodder builds.
  16. Thanks! Chassis is complete... Also coated the wheels with some Detailer Black to tone down the shiny chrome... Got one side of the car trimmed.... And drybrushed the "el Camino" emblem to help it stand out. More to come.
  17. Hobby stores carry them, and they are also available online. They are also available in jars for airbrushes....
  18. Aww yeah.... awesome car for that movie. Subscribed.
  19. This should be EPIC. Subscribed.
  20. Beautiful shark!
  21. Nice rich red color!
  22. Yup, I'm gonna try and remember to put something white back there when I take pics again... Speaking of which... Black Vinyl paint on top... Wood grained back deck... And stripes across the hood now... Stripes were sourced from the Revell '69 Camaro kit that I had left over.
  23. Sadist.... At least it's not "unbuildable".
