  1. I have NONE of my original Revell Snap-Together models that survived outside of my childhood since we lost the house that had all of that stored in the attic. This includes my favorite Star Wars vans I kept on display beyond all the others. I loved the Glow-In-The-Dark Vader and Luke vans. They were awesome.
  2. Thanks! Next update... decal striping put down... And into final assembly... CB radio installed... After drying, then the final decals will go on. NOTE TO THOSE WHO HAVE YET TO BUILD THIS MODEL: 1: If you intend to use the stripe decals, lay them down prior to attaching the snorkel and door handles. You will need to punch holes in the appropriate areas to finish assembly, but it makes the process MUCH easier than trying to affix those stripes with everything put together. 2: The door pieces are wide in height, the slots for them are NOT. Shave the door latches with a knife before trying to jam it into the recessed hole for them. 3: There is a pin on the back of the door latch that is supposed to go into a hole in the door. CUT IT OFF to save yourself a ton of aggravation. 4: There are two holes in the hood to attach the hood latches on. Widen those holes slightly with a pin vise before trying to push them in. Consider clipping off the pins in the back of the latch and just glueing those on as well.
  3. Next update... mostly together... Firestik II fiberglass antenna (need to source a suitable CB radio!) Seat belts and seat belt retainers alongside center console Warn 9.5ti thermometric winch with cloth weave cable spool...
  4. A search in Tips, Tricks, and Tutorials came up with all this.... http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=73265&hl=%2Bmaking+%2Bdecals http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=75661&hl=%2Bmaking+%2Bdecals http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=72781&hl=%2Bmaking+%2Bdecals http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=72520&hl=%2Bmaking+%2Bdecals http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=71031&hl=%2Bmaking+%2Bdecals http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=45405&hl=%2Bmaking+%2Bdecals#entry482839 Mine is the last one in the list. Read them thoroughly for ideas.
  5. No... there is A LOT of interest in this. I've been wanting a box XJ for so long now, I'd about given up hope on it.
  6. Finally got a new photo printer, new photo decal paper, and proper ink cartridges. Trying this one out now, a topic I've wanted to do ever since the first movie came out....
  7. I had to order my 5 bottles from Amazon (I lost my last stash when we had to move...). The local stores stopped carrying it completely. Walmart acts like they have it in stock but it's never on the shelves.
  8. If it's a fuel-injected turbo hamster wheel, it's still a hamster wheel.
  9. I would assume so, I mean, this would be late '40s to mid '50s, so they really didn't have a lot of fat tires back then for these cars... And talk about "ironic"... And a car from someone else's build... I think I got it pretty close as far as accuracy goes in the way of suspension and tires.
  10. And now... paired up with Henry's "Sparrow".... This is the Lindberg kit. I stole the large flathead air cleaner setup from this very kit to make the Sparrow engine and still built a not-too-shabby racer out of the rest.
  11. Unlike my father-in-law's racecar, this one does not exist. At least that I know of... One of my wife's relations wanted me to build a "companion" NASCAR racer to go along with her dad's car, so I took a few liberties with the build... I didn't use a "dust catcher" on the front of this one because if the driver had left the front grill on the car it would not need anything... I actually had to clip a small triangle in the middle of the front of the bumper bar to allow it to fit in the front.Talk about "Moonshine Engineering"! This one is named "Cherry Bomb".... I used Tamiya Dull Red and Semi Gloss Black for the paint scheme....
  12. Dude, you're off the chain. Killer build!
  13. If I could ride, this is what I would have....
  14. Good recovery!
  15. Sweet custom ride!
  16. Thanks guys! Yeah, when I got the Chevy Van kit and saw that "For Sale" decal in the sheet, I knew I had to put that on strip styrene and seal it so it could be used over and over again. I wish we would see more decals like that, or something like dealer window sheets for new cars.
  17. Love the subtle two-tone and stance. Looks like a Saturday night cruiser.
  18. So when are you gonna take us for a ride in it? Sweet!
  19. I hope I got this close. My only gripe with it is the "high-low" carb setup which messes up the hood alignment. Also, I wish I had done more homework before painting the intake manifold. It really needed to be the same hemi color.....
  20. Sick.... Absolutely SICK..... I want your skills.
  21. It's on my must buy list. Need to build some more before I overrun my work area...
