  1. For those that missed this. this is what I'm working on. based on on our truck. started with a 378 GW 379 hood and sleeper parts from 359 with miner mod's too fit. Fuel tanks from PVC,flat sheet stock and old tank parts. Intake made from a ink-pen cut on a 45 and flat sheet stock for detail. P&P lights, lost count(Think there's 48).Ooo Motor from P&P.
  2. After looking at photos now this I'm wanting to get the bench clean off from these 2 well maybe 3 builds from last year so I can get this started. 2 of then I can't remember were I left off at cause there so much to do on them.
  3. Me too,For me the hard part will be the curves and points/tips of the stripes.
  4. Kinda working on one now(I think, not sure yet  Well got it started does that count? ). Off hand I think the cab and sleeper-box or separate. I'm thinking leave cab as is. If it's cold and raining I for one would not walk 8 too10'. But a custom cab would be nice too. I keep going back to this idea for me. (got it from the NET who did this don't know.) I wont to shape the roof so it's has the same shape of cab. Seeing the corners of the sleeper stick out is a big focal point.
  5. Well you do live at the the end!!! of the World!!!
  6. and black for power. or at one time.
  7. What about the tires and air ride?? What would be best too use??
  8. Cool, been wanting to do the same.Taking photos last year and got to close ,guess the magnet killed the camera.
  9. There was a guy that was casting "The big job ford' by the time I could order he stop. Now my Pc went out and lost his addy.
  10. Would be nice to see the COE make a come back. Or even some new names on the road could be nice(I think).I know how about someone building a model of one with LH drive for the fun of it.
  11. Think your rite it was the mid 70'S when front brakes came out. Remember dad having a few trucks with out brakes when I was little.
  12. Double Eagle sleeper (CLOSED UP) up this Summer.
  13. IS this a Lego kit or did you pull from thin air??
  14. Like the way you cut the fame looks good.If you don't mind I like too try that some day. "Low ri---der!!!
  15. Start with the Long hauler kit,I under stand it is a bit more up to date than the 378 conventional that I used. From looking at the photos from the link you will need motor from the Revell 359 snap kit. Yep lots of work, I been working on this almost 2 years now, spent most of that time rounding up parts. So far the only hold up is door hinges ,fuel tanks and decals then done, that will not be long from now.
  16. You in for a lot of work, Optimus Prime looks like a 379 with flat top walkin sleeper , What you will need is a 378 kit, hood conversion from P&P or GW Resin, air cleaners and Revell 359 sleeper. For a Working hood a set of hinges from a 359 will work at lest for me they do. J&J lite brackets from P&P(His are real close) also the 359 bezels. From what I can see from your photo there is a set of extra toolbox's so the frame will have to be made longer there also. add about 3 or 4MM to the frame however long the hood is,(cut between the springs and cab mounts). Trim the cab mounts on the fire wall to 2MM(I think)Have too look. Look on the floor pan there is a tab it shape like a V from what I can see, shave down the sides so it is square and floor sits lower. Cab wall will have to be reworked too fit sleeper.(maybe) Have not seen the LONG HAULER kit. The 359 sleeper is a 1/25,the long hauler is a 1/24 about 1MM or so difference. And too do that it will need to be longer, wider and taller. You can do 2 things leave sleeper as is or make it bigger to scale. (Could be a after market sleeper by now) you would have too ask around. Link too Optimus Prime photos. http://www.autoblog..../#photo-2129615 here is my 379.I used a hood from GW Resins and the 378 conventional kit for a base. Sleeper Humm done forgot were it came from.
  17. that sandpaper tricks great, been doing that for years.
  18. I used Duplicolor for years till it got costly then went back to krylon or so(have too look),never used the Fusion paint. Make sure you keep every thing the same (IE) enamel on enamel and laquer on laquer or acrylic on acrylic. Laquer is hot so it will cook the enamel or crack it. I use the gray primer filler and I do sand with 2000 grit. one time had to start all over, laquer over the enamel acrylic and had to strip the paint. And use the 12oz cans those little 8oz don't go far.
  19. If you are asking about the Plaid paint from wal mart I used good old water. use a fine coat and let it build up. then let the paint dry a week or so. (THINK) I used a enamel clear over it,it too fine mist and slowly build up or try the floor wax idea for a clear. use a junk body too see what happens and too get idea's.
  20. Too find out the scale" I just divide by scale. there are a few other ways of doing it too be more pinpoint. Divideing is faster and real close. 24"/24 scale =1". I do a lot of big sleeper so a 144" sleeper/24=6''. Since you are working with a snap it is a 25 scale so use 25.
  21. Also seen Erics work, great stuff. And a guy names GW he is good too, wish I could remember the others I hve got resin from but can't.
  22. Been looking myself, got a few too work on this winter(maybe) Have not found this site yet thanks.
