  1. It's kitbashed so far from just a "55 t-bird. The back end is covered because it looks like a fresh kill with a dull knife I'm going to attempt to cast a 1/18th '59 Buick so I can get the rear quarters from it.
  2. Tips? That was my first attempt. I heated up all three cans of color.Put the model on a holder and sprayed away. I went with lighter color on the bottom and worked my way up holding the can very close and moving very fast . I believe thats the way to do a fade, wet on wet,but avoid runs.
  3. I started out painting this with The Kustom Kolors by Valspar,(not to be confused with the real HOK stuff) . I used one of the color shifts and didn't like it so stripped and re-primed in white and it sat and sat.I had some cans of the Testor's 1 coat so on it went. I decided to try and see if I could do fog/fade with spray cans. here it is with PPG dca 468 clear overall. The projects in the backround are the start of a 1/16th Predicta and a 1/24th Predicta backdated
  4. Not at all. On the '60 Ford after I trimmed off the two ends where the epoxy flowed down,280 grit dry was all that was needed. This filler, and Magic Sculpt (or aves) has become my goto fillers. I use the two-part polyester stuff more now as a skim coat. The epoxy/MB mix(I only recommend the 30minute type)can also be used as a backer in areas you want to reinforce and don't want sand or can't get at.I think it could even be used too cast some small parts.
  5. Hey all. Wayne Stevens Jr. e-mailed me his tutorial on correcting the ride height on the Revell F/C. wayne stevens jr FC chassis mods.pdf
  6. Don't really know, but I bought some stuff in 2009 or 2010 on ebay and it turned out it was him. i used to see him sometime at CARSIM,a club both of us were in back in Illinois. He was somewhat instrumental in getting me to ditch hobby type paints and go with regular automotive stuff like PPG and DuPont . Primarily the clear lacquers and thinners. Of course his colors were the BOMB :D
  7. What do I think? I think it looks great!! It is a shame that it isn't easier to get some of the unique projects I see here into a quality resin casting. Your model is another fine one-of-a-kind ;)
  8. Thanks, that does give another idea. I believe those dimensions I posted are squares,or blocks e.g. 2"- 4"- 6"-8" x 24L. I googled and found one that treated the calculations as wood (even with little pictures of wood!). One thing I noticed and this is very frustrating is why don't they just put up a price list of standard sizes! It's not like this is a commodity trading like gold or corn.
  9. STOP TEASING US There is always interest in something new.How is the Nancy wedge and the Breedlove dragster coming along. What is the material that you cut out the body from?
  10. They ALL look good at closing time
  11. I contacted a company that sells a 15lb density modeling board for $8.26 per board foot. The available sizes are 2-4-6-8 x 24 inches. Anyone know how to calculate this? (yeah I flunked math..twice)
  12. Wayne, Please send me a Pdf. of the technique to my e-mail below. I'll try and figure out if I can post it. mkucaba@q.com Thanks
  13. Sooo...If someone was to buy some, and offer it up to people here(using emodelcars and paypal) what would be the most desirable size to order? just asking.I'd like to try it myself.
  14. I never realized this car had such intense paint work! WOW John, you sure did this model justice. Greg, crank up the casting machine,I think you will be seeing some orders
  15. UH-Oh! I have one of these in the stash . You did a nice job with it. Hope I can do the same.
  16. Ballast for the off-the line-launch?
  17. Scale auto had an article about that years ago by Drew. As I recall you file the notches in the bulkheads and/or make new ones from sheet plastic. Someone said there were tips on this in the F/C packed in the tins.
  18. Is that the proper wiper motor?
  19. I've been using strip plastic and 30 minute epoxy mixed with micro-balloons. Here's an example.(hope this works)
  20. How about the smaller the better? As long as the wire and tube can support the door I'd want the size that would keep it closest to scale.
  21. Times too here on the doors.Nice job on the scribing. What was your method? How about another in Bright yellow with a Bumble Bee theme, black stripe at the back etc.
  22. Everybody now change their avatar to the General Lee!!
  23. I looked at the album earlier today... then had to go and take a nap Really great stuff there and thanks for sharing
  24. The comment about warping and packaging is meant as a generalization about large scale model cars. While there does appear to be a real gaffe here by Revell on that roofline, you have to ask yourself "if this model were built by a reasonably competent modeler with no accuracy corrections, would it be mistaken for anything but a Mustang"?
