Absolutely. I honestly don't know what Monogram was 'thinking' (and, I don't mean that to sound negative) when they tooled up an outdated-by-1980s-standards hood for the '71 "Satellite" (truly, a Road Runner without naming it as such). Possibly it was something that they were toying with before the kit was retooled to represent a 440+6 GTX? By then --c.1993-- the nostalgia kick was in its infancy; perhaps a Pro Stock-type '71 R.R. or even GTX was considered? That'd be around the same time as the Sox & Martin '67 RO23 "GTX" (name and 'GTX' embellishments applied by S&M to their '67 Belvedere Super Stock) -- maybe the plan was scrapped (S&M didn't campaign a '71 B-body that I'm aware of... only the 1970-come-1971 Barracuda P/S, which is an E-body; maybe a '71 Duster?) I still think that R-M could capitlise on these parts, and offer a replica of Don Grotheer's '71 E/MP 'Runner. -

@Casey: I didn't see anywhere on the runners where the prototype tunnel ram (intake only; no carburetors nor air cleaners) would've been vs. the c.1994 GTX parts. I can only imagine that the tunnel ram would've been on the same runner as the prototype hood (and, maybe, a rollbar and/or traction bars and rear suspension risers -- all similar to the 1971 'Street Machine' Hemi 'Cuda parts, ostensibly). IF the tooling still exists for the hood, tunnel ram, etc., and is on a separate runner (tree, et al.), then it makes sense for Monogram-Revell. to add them to a release of the 1971 Satellite-Road Runner-GTX. Throw in a set of headers, period correct custom wheels (NOT Centerlines nor Cragar S/ST's) and tyres, and the rest of the reinstated 'Satellite' tiller, etc., that're in the recent F&F kit. -

My first thought exactly. Vehicles rust differently here (coastal regions) , typically from the top-down (I've seen otherwise clean vehicles with completely rotted roofs -- gotta love vinyl tops!). -
The Ultra Bright Chrome BMF is super thick; like, twice the thickness of regular BMF. In my experiences, the Ultra adhered quite well, but it does not like fine details (emblems and the such) and it splits/cracks if it's pulled/burnished too snugly to the surface. For the one-eighth scale kits, you may be better off by spray painting the brightwork. I've had great results from the Krylon and Dupli-Color chrome aerosols; your results may vary (and may not be available in Europe, etc.

I came this close |<--- to buying one of the AAR versions. What'd stopped me --silly as it sounds-- was the incorrect rear axle: Dana 60. Then I'd reconsidered: I can dig out a the correct eight-and-three-quarter axle from my parts boxes. Then I saw how poorly executed the trademark 'AAR' strobes were, and again relented. I wish that the Sox & Martin Pro Stock was up for re-release -- even if it's sans the S&M livery. -
I've used Molotow for touch-ups and blending on plated parts, and have recognised much success with that process. I've blended scuffs --mild abrasions-- on plated parts with a Molotow, and even I can't tell where the plating starts and the Molotow ends. Judging by the quality of the rest of your work, I'm sure that whichever repair process you employ will be satisfactory. Keep up the great work!

I plan on keeping my 2004 'P71' Crown Victoria until its wheels fall-off. Since it's a police-spec model, it lacks all of the techie garbage (power windows and driver's seat is about all) -- manual (analogue') climate controls ; actual key which inserts into the ignition and doors; no cruise control (I do like cruise control for longer trips). Even the odometre and trip-metre are analogue (digital odo came along for 2005 or 2006). Nice, basic -- albeit, contemporary -- transportation. No 'Heß' ( "31-G" ) rubbish to contend with.

Camaro-based Buick sounds awesome. Too bad that G.M. is "run" by college kids with soft hands whose collective vision is for wrong-wheel-drive, techie-filled "global" vehicles which'll expire before the 5 year lease is up. -
I've found old Thomas Bros Guides (1969 L.A. & O.C. , 1973 L.A. & O.C.) which is something I collect (oldest I have is 1957 L.A. & O.C.) . Two of the best scores were (1.) Renauld Spectaculars sunglasses from c.1965. Grey-green lenses with silver frames. I gave $5.00 for them... lost 'em at a party months later. (2.) Brand new suede Hushpuppies slip-ons, in my shoe size. Those were $50.00 shoes back then -- I gave $2.00 for them.

I'm unpleasantly surprised that Moebius would mount that rear bumper attachment-points-up on the runners!

YES! Make that rascal an LHD, U.S.-spec version, too. Don't hassle with that garbage IFS 4WD generation, either! Solid axle is what we need! Oh, and how's about a sixties Stout while we're at it. -

Those hoods resemble P/S hoods of the era, and maybe even some of the Direct-Connection offerings. I wonder if the interior tub was irreversibly modified to the GTX / Satellite Sebring version? MPC didn't get it right with their 1971 Road Runner annual (barely even passing as Sebring-GTX pattern). -

I wonder why Monogram et al. didn't go forward with that??? I wonder if they had Don Grotheer's 1971 Road Runner E/MP in mind? How cool would that have been!! Ostensibly, the tooling still exists -- Ed Sexton et al.: Do it to it! I'm sure that Grotheer would approve of having his car's livery on one of your kits! -
I've been to Julian once, some 18 years ago. Me mum and I travelled there via CA 76 & CA 79 (both easily accessible from I-15 for out of town visitors) on a lovely Spring day. I recall seeing what appeared to be a Bobcat kitten crossing the road-- it was actually a Bobcat queen; she'd stopped in the middle of the road to the Palomar Observatory and was 'trilling' and 'chuffing'. Soon after, four kittens scurried across the road and up the adjacent hill, mum in tow. I'd forgotten how small Bobcats are... that's why I thought that the queen was a kitten. Beautiful scenery, wonderful drive.

Arroyo Seco Parkway (formerly, Pasadena Freeway; originally part of Route 66 -- oldest parkway in California if not the nation). Too bad that time and "upgrades" have eroded its architecture. Those Figueroa Street Tunnels are works of art in themselves!

It's similar to the MPC 1971-1976 Duster-Demon-Dart Sport annuals and subsequent reissues (most recently, the '1976 Dart Sport'): every issue of that kit --well, at least from 1972-onward-- has an offset front wheelbase. Initially I'd believed that to be a result of eliminating the torsion bars (1973 & later kits), but that's not the case: my unbuilt 1972 Duster 340 annual has the same offset front wheelbase. Certainly, the offset has become exaggerated with time and ad infinitum reissues; yet, it's gone 'unnoticed' by the Q.C. folks. While there are other issues with the otherwise nice MPC Dart Sport et al. kits (manual trans, but automatic shifter & console, and no brake master cylinder), at least the offset front wheels are an easy fix.

An all-new Squarebody would be awesome! All years could "easily" be covered, at least 1973-1979; then 1980 (cowl was separated from the hood for 1980, IIRC); then 1981-1987 (1992 [?] for the heavy duty iterations). The only reason why the (ancient) Monogram et al. K-20 sells is because it's the only game in town (for the 1973-1979 guise). The MPC et al. c.1982 K-10 ostensibly sells well, but is also long in the tooth (and is a short bed with goobered lines from the Fall Guy ad seq. releases) -- even its SBC is so-so: not terrible, but outdated even by 1978 standards. Moebius! I'm --we're-- addressing you! Round2! C'mon, man! Backdate that Mile High Club (or whatever it's called) pickup, and reinstall the 2WD parts; uninstall the outdate SBC app (or at least run updates to its belts & pulleys to represent the correct 1969 & later arrangement). -
Thanks for the correct terminology -- I used the term "core-shift" in the sense of misaligned die cavities. I don't remember what the prior Racing Chumps release (the one with the 1975 dashboard and chassis) body is like, as I haven't touched one since I did a commissioned build some 20 years ago. At that time, I didn't recognise any outstanding A pillar misalignment -- just the slightly-bowed pillars, which was an easy fix. Thus far, I believe that I've remedied the right-side pillar issue. I knocked-down/eliminated the parting lines before I attempted to repair the pillar junction. Next step is reinforcing the repaired area, then it's on to primer. Thanks for your input .
