  1. HA HA HA HA HA !! I despise those stupid stickers !!! It's like those infamous "DO NOT REMOVE !" tags on cushions ... ... but much more irritating . The best is when some-one adds tint film over that dumb sticker !! When-ever I get hold of a new vehicle (typically a work vehicle) that sticker is the first thing to hit the trash .
  2. Here's what I feel is lacking in the MoPar arena : - 1967 Dart and or Barracuda - 1971 / 1972 Road Runner ( I'd be content with the MPC versions being reissued !) - 1974-1975 Monaco Police - 1977-1978 Monaco Police ( not too hip on that MPC kit ... ) - 1972-1978 D/W Pickups - 1970-1971 Challenger ( those Monogram-come-Revell 340 T/A kits are ancient ! Don't get me started on that caca diecast-come-plastic "thing" from a few years ago ! ) - 1958 "any-thing" with the Bendix Electro-Jector fuel injection ! - 1965 Coronet - 1970-1975 B-Van
  3. The Revell Dart chassis and suspension are nicer for certain , especially if one wishes to employ the nice (other than its distributor !) 383 / 440 with the Torqueflite . The AMT 1971 Duster 340 chassis will only work if one wishes to keep the 340 (needs to be modified to 1968-1969 water pump , "bubble top" radiator , and rocker covers format to be correct for pre-1970 340 applications) and the 4-speed . The trans tunnel will need to be modified for Torqueflite use , as it's too narrow . The hood from the 1969 Barracuda was indeed used on 1973-1976 Darts ; however , the fenders were definitely specific to the 1973 & up Dart (witness the cheesy 1972 & later "universal" side markers versus the 1969-only reflectors ; totally different .).
  4. Back in 2009 , the will-remain-nameless auto parts store I work for "accidentally" received a case of "49 State" carburetor cleaner , and a case of "49 State" brake cleaner . I swooped those 2 cases up so fast ! Couldn't buy 'em fast enough ! Ha ha ha . Next day an email was sent out ; its message was to the effect of : ATTN : Southern California Stores : a mistake was made at the warehouses and "banned" cleaners [ part numbers 'x' and 'y' ] were sent to the following stores ____________________ . Please remove them from your inventory and send them back to the [ distribution centre ] ASAP ." Too late !! Ha ha ha !!
  5. Presenter for the British T.V. programme Ready ! Steady ! Go ! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cathy_McGowan_(presenter) That lyric is from Generation X's (Billy Idol's first band) Ready , Steady , Go !
  6. As alife-long resident of the Golden (Showers) State : I think that the Republick of Kalifornia has bigger fish to fry vis-a-vis Porter Ranch ... That last Governor we had ---what's his name again ? Arnold Poopants ?---- is the architect behind the banning of cleaners that actually work . How about the 100% wortless brake cleaner ? Carburetor cleaner ? Parts wash ? Then there's the unavailable high gloss clear coats that many new cars have ; one can get the base / colour coat , but no-go on the clear (!!!!!). My brother-in-law goes to Nevada or Arizona to get the real stuff . BTW , that stupid "Prop 65" garbage has been around since 1986 .
  7. Those are reprints of Plymouth's psychedellic illustrations of the 1969 Barracuda Rapid Transit System advertisements . Those style of psychdellic illustrations ran from 1967-1971 .
  8. Did you use the Dart's engine compartment as well ? The Shear Panels are completely incorrect on the Barracuda (not to mention its 1966 & earlier brake master cylinder , too !) ; the Dart's boiller room is 100% perfect for the B'cuda !
  9. Spectacular 'Vette , Shane ! I love the contrast of dark-coloured-wheel centres and the pop of the body colour !
  10. Thanks for your responce to my inquiry regarding the colour(s) you used , Terry . Perhaps lightly-scuffing the base / colour coat prior to spraying the clear / top coat will help the latter to adhire .
  11. Another term that needs to die a horrible death : "Pre-Owned"
  12. I really , really like its colour ! What is it called ? Nice work on the details
  13. I'm quite looking forward to the 1980 Volare "Road Runner" and the 1983 GMC Pickup (only for its bed , really . I have a 1978 C10 Annual and I want to give it a "fleetside" bed) . I wonder how the Vega and Monza tools are ? Would be nice to see those in their colse-to-original 'annual' releases (e.g. , stock building option) . How about the 2-wheel-drive and stock parts for the 1/20 scale c.1971 Econoline ?
  14. @ Keyser : "Is it safe ?..."
  15. Love it , Tulio ! Looks like some-thing that one would see prowling the streets out here in southern California !
  16. Just got mine today ! I positively LOVE it ! What really makes this kit so cool for me is : 1.) White Wall Tyres ! MPC hasn't had those since c.1971 ! 2.) Crossram Intake ! While I'm sure it was originally intended for the Hemi , it will most-likely fit the 383 . 3.) Hurst Dual Gate Console ! Yes , the kit has a 4-speed ; however , that console can find its way in the kit with a Torqueflite swap , or it'll work with the Revell 1968 Dart . 4.) Optional , Separate Console . Intended for the custom version , but I'm sure it'll work with the factory buckets . 5.) "Mystery" Wheel House "Tubs" . Were these in the original MPC Annual ? This version of the kit screams , "Bash me with the AMT Duster or the Revell Dart ! " . I highly recommend this kit !
  17. I believe that the rust / patina deal has its origins in early Hot Rodding (to add to what's been explained in previous posts) : buy a 10-30 year old car and transplant a new(er) engine and/or drivetrain into it ; maybe make upgrades to , say , "'Juice' Brakes" (Ford , et al. , didn't have hydraulic brakes until , what , 1940 ??!! Definitely the last holdouts with mechanical binders ! ) , grille swaps , etc. , etc. ; chop and cut the body to taste , and then leave it in its natural , oxidised state (i.e. , the funds for paint go into engine upgrades ). Those are the definitive "Rat Rod" builds . Patina ? I've always been a fan of leaving "beauty marks" , "character marks" , etc. , in their place . I suppose that it must be an exclusive --or at least originally-- a SouthWest U.S. thing . Why ? Our vehicles deteriorate uniquely versus "Rust Belt" vehicles ; our vehicles' vinyl , rubber , paint , etc. , gets blasted by the Sun and its effects ; the dirty , gritty winds blast the paint and glass ; and then the seasonal rains' moisture builds-up in the rockers , lower fenders , under vinyl tops , etc. , and rust forms . Ever seen a "beach car" ? Yeah , not exactly "rust-free California" , huh ? I rather enjoy seeing an original-albeit-aged , say , 1970 Swinger 340 whose dashpad is cracked , paint is faded-to-the-primer , and paint is rust-streaked , but runs and drives perfectly well .
  18. Here's some great photos of the car in its restored state : https://www.mecum.com/lot-detail/FL0115-204297/0/1970-Chevrolet-Chevelle-LS6-Convertible/Automatic/
  19. From the information I've gathered from reliable sources , it is indeed a legit LS-6 droptop . It was ostensibly modified with typical pieces : 6 cylinder front springs and the such . That car dominated SS/EA ! It's one of my personal top 10 favourites !
  20. Yep ! Those have been there since c.1988 . Those W23 wheels are even more rare in the A-body bolt pattern ( 5x4" circle with spindly studs ) !
  21. The Judy Lilly 1968 Hurst-Hemi Barracuda was most-likely cosmetically-updated to 1969 appearance ( as was the case with others' '69 Hemi A-bodies ) and then campaigned in either S/SE or A/MP . This is probably the case with the MPC kit , albeit an odd one ; why retool just the rear side marker lights ( '68 was round , '69 was a rectangular "reflector" . '68 Hemi Dart and Barracuda had fibreglass front fenders sans marker lights / provisions ) , but leave every-thing else alone ? IIRC , the shifter for the 4-speed is the (dreaded) "Inland" shifter . That changed by spring 1968 when Chrysler once again contracted with Hurst ( 1966-mid-1968 cars were "blessed" with the inferior Inland shifter ) . A "1:1" 1969 Formula-S 383 Barracuda is a rarety , more so in hardtop ( bodystyle "23") and convertible ( bodystyle "27" ) . Rarer yet is a '69 'Cuda ( factory named as such ) 440 ; again the hardtop being rarest ; no 440 convertibles were built . Looks like I'll be picking one of these gems up this go'round !
  22. Excellent DP23H6C , Steve ! Add me to the list of those whose wish is that the original tooling wasn't modified [ read : butchered ] . The C-bodies and B-bodies of c.1964-c.1970 were really closely-related in many respects ; of course , the C-bods being the only "Unitized" carline left after 1962 (and the D-body Imperial which was full-frame through c.1965) .
  23. Does that issue have the T-N-T 440 air cleaner / pie tin ? I can't remember if that was originally included in the Jo-Han kit , or if some-one's making resin "pops" ...
